I am a revision after lapband. I had my lapband surgery March 5, 2012 by Dr David Thoman in Santa Barbara. I never got a fill as I was plagued by persistent daily vomiting right from when I moved to solid food. After months of testing and wait and see, I finally had an upper GI that showed the band was put in right at my esophageal junction leaving me with under 1 cm of pouch. So mechanically I vomit, every day. I now have ulcers from the constant vomiting and it has been an overly long process to get care. My insurance would not cover a very supportive local surgeon, Dr Woodbury in Santa Rosa, CA, so I am now scheduled to have my revision at UCSF. Dr Rogers has been very good and seemed very positive that I should be able to get an earlier surgery date as soon as they have the insurance approval letter. Currently I am scheduled for surgery April 19, 2013.

Surgery moved up to April 11. 2013. Surgery went great, postop was 7 hours. Apparently my body does not like anesthesia and I don't like to keep breathing when I wake up. A saint of a nurse stayed with me for those 7 hours reminding me the breathe. I am home, one of the entry sites is extremely painful. What they found was that the stitches from the band surgery in March 2012 had failed. How does that happen when it is done by a skilled surgeon?

4/16 great bubbles have been gurgling through my abdomen. Parts of my belly still feel like an overfilled blimp. I finally have shed the bloating from all the hospital fluids and iv's. Bruises are healing, body glue instead of stitches is some amazing stuff. I had one incision leak a bit yesterday which I covered w some sterile burn dressing so it could breathe. I still have funky red marks where it looks like a chemical burn. I react to medical tapes and they may have used some in surgery. I am almost done with the morphine itchiness, I react to that, too! I was given a cooling lotion which helps soothe the itch. I was able to sleep in my bed last night, that felt so good.
