I have a droid & the app I have had little icons on the top, one of which looks like little heads. If you click on that it will take you to some other tabs & you can choose "friends". At the bottom of that screen there's a blue tab that says "add friends". Click on that & you can send requests for friends. Also go to your profile & choose to share your diary w/ friends Hope this helps!! -

Aww I'm sorry that you're going through this. I really struggled on the 1st month, a lot of feeling like I'd made a mistake, hunger & I threw up daily which made me break down & cry on many.occasions. I felt like I'd.never feel good again.or he able to eat.anything again. The good news: it passed! I can eat now without getting sick & I'm thrilled w/ my decision to get sleeved. Hang in there! It gets so much better!! Like the previous.posters I think you should openly share how you're feeling with your support group....that's what.its for! And also, please be careful what.you eat at.this stage! I don't want you to hurt yourself! Just.keep reminding yourself it will get better soon. ((Hugs)) -

How Many Calories A Day Do You Usually Eat?
kayte819 replied to Michellefaina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lol! Well that definitely changes my reply! Join myfitnesspal.com & request some friends from here. You can then view different people's food diaries to get some menu ideas, caloric intake info, etc. At 1.5 mos out I was eating between 400-600, though most days I was under 500. If you join MFP feel free to send me a request - my user name on there is the same as on here! -
Movie Snack Suggestions
kayte819 replied to HopeThruFaith's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What about Popchips? I mean, I wouldn't eat.them everyday but they are.definitely better than movie popcorn! They.come in lots of flavors & have 15g of carbs per single serving bag, but.there's no way you'd be able.to eat.a whole bag, even the individual size. Well, maybe you could actually since they are probably a slider. That said, beware!! If you want more info on where to buy them, flavors & nutritional info go to popchips.com Good luck!! You CAN do this!! -
P.S. When I listed the foods I had to stick to I meant to include that I was uncomfortable.eating anything other than those for about 4-5 weeks But don't despair! It gets so much better!

Yes! I had a hiatal hernia repair during my sleeve surgery & I threw up everything I ate when I started eating more solid mushies, such as grits, mashes potatoes, etc. It is apparently a pretty major surgery all on It's own & the typical hospital stay after that procedure alone is 5 days. I cried a ton during my 1st 5 wks post-op thinking I'd throw up & gag on everything for the rest of my life. And, after doing extensive research on a hiatalhernia repair I felt my surgeon had been remiss in not having explained this more in depth. He kind of just mentioned it in passing like it was no big deal, but it actually is kind of a big deal. It takes a while for the swelling on that area to go down so it really complicates the earlier stages of eating, as well as making drinking more challenging than it is for other vsg patients. Be patient & listen to your body.....you just might not be ready for dense mushies like mashed potatoes. I pretty much had to stick to yogurt, cottage cheese, cream of wheat w/ milk, instant oatmeal w/ milk, soups & sf pudding & jello. It will get better, but I do think it is a tougher recovery. Hang in there & feel free to pm me if you have questions or just need support!

How Many Calories A Day Do You Usually Eat?
kayte819 replied to Michellefaina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I Didnt track cals at your stage since its either liquids or full liquids & the focus is getting anything you can down & keeping hydrated. Now I'm almost 13 wks out & I eat anywhere from 600-900 cals a day depending on what I eat. I aim for 60+ grams of protein per day, but there are still days that I don't reach it. I wouldn't worry about calories at your point. Trust me.....you are getting very few....probably under 300 per day. -
I also like power Crunch bars.but like triple.chocolate or choc peanut butter. Vanilla is too sweet for me, but you may love it. They sell little individual packs of raw almonds which are good. I hate alllll protein shakes other than rtd muscle milk light vanilla latte (cuz they don't taste like a protein shake & aren't thick) Even if you hate shakes I recommend trying it. Also the banana creme is good! Another idea....when I was doing doing Adkins I would make little piles of shredded cheese on wax paper, microwave until totally melted, then let it cool for awhile. It.will harden & get crunchy. You'll then have high protein "chips" that.are delicious w/ salsa or Greek yogurt mixed w/ a package of ranch, etc.

I agree that truvia has a weird aftertaste. I bought a huge bag of it post-op then went back to splenda. I don't use it much. I drink one sweet & low in my coffee, then plain water or plain iced tea for the rest of the day. I have made kool-aid w/ splenda & it was good.

Needed: Sleeve-Specific Grocery List
kayte819 replied to TheSkinnyCow73's topic in Food and Nutrition
Oh! And buy paper cocktail plates & paper bowls & plastic silverware. You can make anything in the microwave that way. Also forgot to add lean cuisine steak & Portobello mushrooms is high protein, low carb. I'm sure there are others that.are too, but I think this one is pretty good. -

I'm a huge fan of muscle milk light rtd in vanilla latte. I also love power crunch bars. They.are like cookie wafers instead of dense protein bars, but high in protein & low carb/low sugar. Also individual packs of almonds are good on the go. Peanut butter on whole grain crackers or melba toast (has protein). Canned beans. Hummus on whole wheat flat bread. Cream cheese w/ smoked salmon on flat bread. Just some thoughts -
If you go to subway just get tuna salad, no bread. I'm about 3mos out & I eat no bread at all. I tried really dry toast but it felt stuck in my throat. I find now I don't even miss it. Maybe go somewhere that has fish on the menu. I find that fish is the easiest on my stomach, especially white fish (like tilapia) because it is moist. Salmon is a little to dry, but seared ahi tuna is easy...goes down easy, tastes delicious & is packed w/ protein. Also, Ceasar salad is a good choice, but I'd only eat the chicken since you're too early out for salad. You can eat out & still stick w/ your plan! Good luck

Craving Smooth Egg Salad Or Great Deviled Eggs.. Help!
kayte819 replied to 4ALongerLife's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
I smash to eggs up with a potato masher, then a fork to get them really smushed. You could use a mixer if you want them whipped. I add mayo, mustard, garlic salt, pepper & a little paprika. I know some people add pickle relish too, but I don't like it so I skip it. -
I was told grits were a good choice during the mushy stage, but they were like lead in my stomach. I tried them twice during that time, about a week apart & threw up both times. Now that I'm further out I tried them again on Easter -abt 12 wks out- & they went down fine....a little too easy in fact, and I totally over ate. Thinking grits are a no! But the nut knows best!
