Band To Sleeve In Single Surgery?
IowaAndy replied to ChaChaBurch's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had the revision as I still had another 90 pounds to lose and my band was at the max fill. I was constantly vomiting after eating due to the high fill and I was not able to lose any more weight. The doctor told me that they should have probably done the sleeve in the first place due to the amount of weight that I had to lose. Good news but was a little too late. I had to pay out of pocket as my insurance refused to pay for the removal of the band or the sleeve. If I was looking to lose weight I think that I would stay far away from the lapband as it is on its way out in my opinion. And it has caused nothing but problems for many people. I would have the sleeve again in a heartbeat. -

When I get to feel like I want to graze or feeling down and out I get out. I get out of the house. Go for a walk, sit and people watch, take a nice long bath, do a puzzle......I find the secret to my not grazing is to keep myself busy with something,.......anything. Get a hobby or take up an activity.

How Soon Until You Can Drive, Mow The Lawn, Light Housework?
IowaAndy replied to Jafter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I waited a week until I drove and that was just local. I live in a condo so did not have to worry about the lawn but I would say a month and listen to your body. As for house cleaning it depends on what you mean. Anything that does not require any heavy lifting would be fine. I would be careful with vacuuming as you use a lot of stomach muscles. I guess trial and error would be a good rule of thumb. If it hurts then stop. -
I just have a question about the Protein shot. It says that it has 600 calories and .....how many grams of protein are in one shot. Have never used them and wondering. I know that you are not to consume a huge amount of protein at one time as the body can only absorb so much at a time.

New Around Here And Hoping To Get This Band Out!
IowaAndy replied to iwannabslim's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I never had a slip or erosion from my band.....it just stopped helping me lose weight. I was at the max fill and I was constantly vomiting foods not matter what I ate. I was never so glad to see the band go and to have my sleeve even if my insurance said they would not cover it. This was the best money that I every spent. I am thankful for everyday of my new life. -
Sounds good but I have the noodles. I do not eat that large of a serving and your body does need some carbs. Just like you body needs some fats. You can not deny yourself everything and if you eat in moderation then you can have these and feel like you are treating yourself.

600 # Man Cut From His Home, So Very Sad
IowaAndy replied to former_vbg's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It is truly sad and I do hope that he can get some much needed help. I was teased when I was a child and mean things were said to me all the time. This was mainly done by children but as we know children grow up....oh should I say they get bigger. Some people just never grow up and they always speak before they think. I think that this is sad and give a bad example to youth. It is no different than bullying in my book. Some people are just idiots and do not take others, others lives or other feelsing into consideration. Truly sad all around. -

My Job Is So Freaking Nosey
IowaAndy replied to FatGirlSlim's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would speak to your HR department and tell them that you medical issues are private and they are not to be shared. Also that others where you work should not be told anything more than what you are willing to tell them. -
5 Weeks Post Op And Feeling Bad. Am I Dehydrated?
IowaAndy replied to hope2Bfitand40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Never any issues here either and congratulation on your successful surgery. Take it a day at a time. I can not even remember when I was a few days post op......I am now 4 months and it is just a memory.

Massive Migraine After Hard Wourkout
IowaAndy replied to DisappearingDivis's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Have you had your potassium checked lately? Just a thought -
Wow.............this just shows that there is a great difference in diet plans given out by doctors. I am still not allowed to eat lettuce and the bagel....no way. To me it looks like you are consuming a lot of carbs and sugars. I know that most of my diet is still Protein, veggies and some fruits. I am now 4 months post op and according to my diet plan the lettuce and that much bread are still way out there. I also think that if you get away from the z bar there are other more things with a great food value for you to eat. If you are at your goal weight and can maintain your weight at this level then I say go for it. I know that I could not eat what you eat at this point and I still have a ways to go to reach my goal.

Do not spend a lot of moeny on a scale. Once you weight on a scale then any weight loss should be fairly accurate. Also just to be make you aware your scale can become your enemy after weight loss surgery. If you weight daily and are expecting a weight loss everytime that you get on the scale it is very easy to get discouraged. I have gone to weight bi-weekly. This way if I do not lost much in a few days or 1 week I do not get down on myself and start to eat things to make me feel better......like i used to do in the past.
