    Normal Bites

Your sleeve will like you better if you take smaller bites. And why take large bites if you are going to have discomfort or cause yourself to injest too much food and feel miserable. My new stomach always tell me when I have had enough. The fast you eat and the bigger bites that you take the great the chance that you are going to be miserable when you are done eating.

    Help!

I would try and start trying the protein shakes to see which one that you like the best. I would start to cut down on the carbs and eat mostly protein, veggies and fruits. Also if you are able to exercise even if it just walking start and do it at least 5 days a week. I know that this seems like a long time until your surgery but you will make it and soon be on your way to a new life. Best to you and your journey
  3. It is going to depend on what type of a job you have. If you do heavy lifting it is going to be much longer than someone that does not do lifting and has a more sedentary job like sitting at a desk. I would talk to your doctor and explain your job and what you do during the day and he will be able to tell you when you can return. It you job is willing to make some adjustments for you it may be possible to go back sooner.

    Switching Insurance?

Getting other insurance can at any time be difficult and may be impossible. I know that when I lost my job several years ago and tried to get other insurance besides the cobra that was offered with the same company many would not take me as I was overweight, had hypertension, was borderline diabetic, sleep apnea. When you have medical problems and the more medical problems that you have the harder it will be to get an insurance carrier to take you as a patient. And when you do find someone to take you the premium will be very high. Best of luck.....I know that I could not afford the cost of my surgery and they wanted close to $40,000. I started checking and ended up going to Mexico and have had not problems and my surgery was Dec 11, 2011

    How Are You Working Out?

I think that for 1 month out you are doing a great job. I want to get back into jogging but I still need to lose a few pounds so that I do not start to have trouble with my knees. They say that jogging is not that good for your joints and since I have been overweight for years I wonder if I will just be adding and doing more harm if I jog. I have been increasing the incline and speed on the treadmill at the gym. I will see how I get along. I also may try the cycle class as you do not get all the shock on your joints.

    Taking A Drink

I had my surgery on Dec 11, 2012 and yes I am able to take regular swallows of liquids. You will again get there but be patient and do not put any undue stress on your new stomach. It will let you know when it is ready.

    11Days Post Op

I think that the feeling in your stomach is the acid and not head hunger. I took the zofran for 2 week post op for the acid and then stopped as my stomach was doing much better. I never get stomach hunger......it is always head hunger. As far as I know taking zofran will do nothing to take away head hunger.

    All Your Protein In?

Well I for one did not get all of those things in at 2 weeks post op. I know that I was having trouble getting the protein and the water. I was not for sure exercising for 60 minutes at 2 weeks out. Hope you hear from others as to where they were at 2 week post op. I just say do your best and it will improve each and every day.
  10. I certainly would not just base my surgeon decision on the cost. I know that cost is a major concern for all of us that went to Mexico but that should be far not be the only deciding factor. I know that you will consider all different things before making your choice.
  11. That is so rude............I got rid of some of my clothes on Craigslist. I then gave someone on Craigslist that was in need of clothing as they were down on their luck and what they could not use I took to the Goodwill store. If all else fail.....help those in need.
  12. I think that after reading long enough you will find many things that people like about Dr Kelly, Dr Ponce, Dr Almanza, Dr Garcia and the list goes on. I think that you need to feel comfortable with your choice and that is only a decision that you, yourself, can make. I know that I initially was going to go with Dr Kelly but then change my mind to Dr Almanza and finally changed again and settled on Dr Garcia. I probably would have had a good experience with any of them but I made the decision to go with Dr Garcia. I am not sorry about my choice and very happy. I know that others on here also have nothing to say about their doctors but good reviews. I wish you all the luck on your choice of your surgeon and all the best on your surgery and your new journey.

    Seeds?

It should tell you on your diet plan that you were given by your surgeon or your NUT.....mine is listed under fruits and then it list the different ones and when you can eat them

    Fly

It depends on how far you are flying. If you are planning an overseas flight that would be 8 hours or more then I would say wait.....but I flew home 5 days after my surgery but it was only a 3 hour flight
  15. If it is an uncovered surgery by your insurance then it does not make any difference if you had the surgery in the US or in Mexico. Uncovered is uncovered..........so if you paid to have the surgery here in the US and have complications and has to go back to the hospital then you would still have to pay for the cost of the problems out of your own pocket.

    Is It Safe..

I take a stool softner daily and I also have a shake every morning that has benefiber. I have no trouble with constipation like I did immediately after surgery. Just make sure that you are getting all of your fluids as this will help also. remember you are not taking much in so there will not be a lot coming out but when it does it should not be painful for you
  17. I think the liability issue is just a front. If you have a general surgeon perform a surgery for you it is his insurance that covers that surgery. If you move and see another doctor he does not assume responsibility for any of your previous surgeries. The surgeons here are afraid that if the patient that are in their support groups or practice find out that you did fine going to Mexico and paid so much less than what they charge here in the US they would lose more business. Granted Mexico or any other country is not for everyone but for some of us it is the only option.
  18. Sorry for all of your problems but at least with them giving you the IV you are able to get your fluids and also the rest of the things that they put in the bananna bag. We used to give them all the time to people in the ER when they came in with dehydration etc. I am so sorry that you veins blow so easily as I know that this can be painful and IV's are not pleasant especially when they have to keep starting a new one. Fibromyalgia is a nasty disease and I am sure that it can cause a lot of problems in addidion to your surgery. I hope that the medications that they are giving you will help you get through this and that you will be able to get your fluids in without having to go into the hospital. An hour at a time and try and take those small sips every few minutes in order to get those fluids as they are most important.

    I Want To Eat!

Think that you fainting symptoms are from you not getting in all of your fluids. I think that if you get in your fluids you body will start to feel better and so will you. If you are depressed and food was always your way out then I would suggest seeing a professional. You may benefit from some medication to get you through this period. I think that once you lose more weight and start to feel good about yourself and your choice you will have a better outlook on your life. You will once again be able to cook for your family and also eat that food. It will not be in the same quantities that you were consuming before your surgery but there is nothing to say that you can never eat some of your favorite foods as you get farther out from your surgery date. Hang in there as things will get better for you.
  20. Not sure what you mean by bothering.....can you give us more info. Are you having UTI's. This could be because you are not getting in enough fluids. I have also found diet cranberry juice which I drink some daily as it seems to have replaced soda for me. I also drink generic crystal light and water.....no soda, coffee, tea. Just curious as to what type of problems you are having.

    Extremely Dry Skin!

I ate some saltines and peanutbutter at around 10 weeks
  22. You find me a surgeon in the US that will take you as a patient after you have gone out of the country to have your surgery because of the cost.....that will show me that they did not miss the money in their pocketbook. Does anyone out there that has had surgery in a foreign country that now has a bariatric surgeon that is willing to see them as a regular patient......just curious

    Extremely Dry Skin!

Now don't eat the whole jar......moderation. I am not sure how far out you are but I usually put mine on a couple of saltines and it usually satisfies my carbs also.
