I had my surgery on Dec 1 and I am trying to eat as much as possible. I just came off a 2 week stall and I started to increase my calories as my body must have thought that I was starving. I am now back on the losing side of things again. I maybe eat about 4 oz at a meal but it all depends on what I am eating. I have eaten chicken and thin sliced ham and turkey. I have not started to eat hamburger or steak as they are a little tougher to digest. I have eaten scrammbled eggs and they work great as does cottage cheese. I also have been having some string cheese and sliced cheese. You will find what works for you when you start with more regular foods.

Do not sell yourself short. This is your life and his life is being cut short by all of the years that he continues to be overweight. Heaven forbid that one day he drops over from a cardiac arrest or a stroke because of his weight and the problems that it is causing. You are taking control of your life and doing something that will help to extend your life so do not let them tell you different. If losing weight was so easy then why are there so many obese people in the world and in the US. Those who say that they could lose weight if they really wanted to are lying to themselves. I have wanted to be thin so many times and have tried so many different diets that if that was the case I would have died from starvation but thin. Tick to your guns and do this for you.

I agree that everyone is different with the amounts of food that people can eat. I would say that I eat more than 3 times a day but I do eat breakfast, linch and dinner at set times as I do not get hungry but I know that I have to eat. It also depends on what I am eating and how much protein and calories are in the food that I eat at those 3 meals. If I decide to have a 100 calories shake with 14g protein then I know that I will be eating in between my regular meals in order to get my fluids, protein and calories. I was stalled for weeks until I increased my calorie intake and then I started to lose again. Guess my body thought that I was starving and did not want to give up the weight until I increased those calories. I am still under 1000 per day and I am going on 7 weeks post op. Depending on what I eat I would say that I get about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food at my 3 basic meals.....but as you will find out each person is different.

Meds Are Stuck! Help Needed Now! Please!
IowaAndy replied to Sunshine62103's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am post op 6 weeks and I still take all of my medications with a teaspoon of applesauce. I put the pills in the applesauce and it they are larger I take them one at a time. I have not had any problems with taking any of my meds. Please do not let anyone do any sort of pushing on your stomach as you just had recent surgery. If in doubt go see the doctor. -
Question For You Experts

I would definitely check with your physician on this one. I am not sure there is anyone on here with a medical degree that can answer that and keep you healthy and safe. -
Third Week - Having Problems With Solids Again?
IowaAndy replied to shellbelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
what types of foods are you eating that keep coming back up. I was not eating solid foods at 3 weeks post op. Just curious as to what your diet says that you are to be eating. I was on pretty much baby food and cream soups. -
Oh and to let you know I have had my fair share of constipation since surgery. I thought that it was because I might not be getting all of my fluids. I started to take a stool softner but that did not seem to help. Then I started to take a little benefiber with my morning breakfast and I still do not go very often but at least it is not like a rock.

Soda And Gastric Sleeve Surgery
IowaAndy replied to mommamea's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told that I could not drink soda gain unless it sat long enough for it to go flat. I think it has something to do with the gas and bubbles in the soda so when you drink the soda it does not bode well for your stomach. I have not come close to a soda and I am close to 6 weeks post op. And I can honestly say that I do not miss the soda at all. I have found a new friend and it is called "Diet Cranberry Juice" It has 5 calories in a serving and with lots of ice it is wonderful. Of course I still enjoy my crystal light but cranberry is my fav. I would check with hour surgeon about the soda just to make sure. -
