  1. Only 11 pds since September, nothing in past two months. Did not gain anything back. Thank you, !!! Went to new doctor today. Nice and nurse was great. Dr. Lopez. I am now 3ccs. Said no Protein Shakes. Said to eat a "beach bar" or a snicker bar. YEAH!!! I would of been very depressed if I had not went to the doctor this week. Old doc could not get me in until April. I am hopeful I will improve.

  2. Just got my second fill, two months to late, but I am so happy and full today. Good Luck and great work.:clap2:

Well only "7 Days" and the Band will be on! So far so good. I'm also a Type II Diabetic, and the past week my levels have been on Point, from 80-108 and I cut my Lantus (Insulin) down 80%!!! Do I smell a Needle Free Future?!

I went to my PCP to get my Final Clearance this morning, all the Paperwork stuff. They took my Weight, I'm down almost 14lbs!!! I didn't believe it, so I weighed myself on two other scales there, but that's what it said. I really can't see a difference tho. I just have never felt this good about anything I've ever done, I mean done just for me. And I'm actually following through with it. But I have to say this Forum is what's getting me through. I have gained a lot of knowledge from you all, so thank you so much!

    Your Friend,

    Rocko~~:welldoneclap:

  3. I have not lost in almost two months. I went to Dr. Lopez, new to me today. I learned so much. He gave me my second fill. I am now 3ccs. I am so positive now. I could fill the difference within 20 minutes. I am full to the top even though I only drank today. I am on Clear Liquids today, smooth creams tomarrow, and anything I can mush with a fork the 3rd day and then back to normal diet. He also told me NO Protein shakes for banders, only bypass, usually. He told me to get "beach bars or snicker go bar. I was surprised! I have never had the confidence to change doctors before, but because of this support group I knew I needed a fill, and the other doctor could not get me in until April. I am on top of the world again. Thank you everyone for sharing!!!!!:speechles

    hi ,

getting my second fill this sat . I was wondering if anyone gained or lost weight or stayed the same with the first fill ?

Also did you loose inches and no weight ? are you shrinking more than looseing weight ?

    thanks

    clau

  4. The doctor told me today if I started feeling hungary again, call and go in, usually need another fill. Especially when you loose that amount, things change around band. Maybe get an earlier appointment. Good work, you did better than me.

Hi my name is Rhonda I had my lap band surgery on 2/20/07, I am down about 21 lbs. I am looking for some advice on how to get the most out of my lap band. Currently I haven't noticed a major difference, I am not as hungry as I was before but I still feel I am able to eat more than I am suposed to. I am working very had to stay at the max amount I am suposed to eat but I am hungry again within an hour or so. (I am still trying to figure how much of this hunger is actual hunger and not just mental) How do I get a few more pounds off before my first adjustment on the 9th of April? Looking for any sort of advice to get me a jump start here.

    Thanks in advance,

    Rhonda:help:

  5. Don't worry. It will work for you. We are lucky to have the chance to change our life and appearances. You are lucky that you found this site before surgery. I did not and even though I read and read, went to seminars, and went to two different doctors, I was still out there by myself until I found this support group. Helped make a change in me. Good Luck!:clap2:

OK..SO IM READING THROUGH THE COMPLICATIONS THREADS AND HAVE TOTALLY SCARED MYSELF. IM GOING ON MARCH 30TH TO GET MY SURGERY DATE AND NOW IM SOOO SCARED. SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME THAT ALL IS GONNA BE OK....???!!! :faint:

  6. I got very discouraged because my doctor was to busy to get me in. I kept positive by day dreaming how good I am going to look by Christmas 2007. It was easier thinking of a long term goal. You are going to be so happy once it is done. Yeah for you.

Hello all... I'm Tracy and I'm starting this thread because I just found out that I'm scheduled for Surgery on April 26, 2007.

Now, this is NOT what I wanted... I thought I would for SURE be a March Bandster and hoped for February, but I'm taking the news with stride and picking myself up and dealing with it......

SO... what I've decided to do is get a head start on Spring (and my surgery date) Setting a goal to lose 25 lbs before April 26th. I have to do this because otherwise my "farewell to food tour" will have be tipping the scales in the wrong direction..

SO... any other April Bandsters out there let me know and I will add you to the list! But EVERYONE is welcome to post.... :)

    HEAD START TO SPRING!

  7. Thanks. I know what you mean. My Doc is gone, too. I am going to another office and Doc for a fill this week. I am going to have to pay for this out of network and cash. I had sorgery in sept, fill in late nov, and not seen since. They could not get me in until April. I called new Doc and am getting fill Tuesday. I am hopeful this will make a change in loss. This new nurse said I should be down at least 20 more by now. I felt like my other Doc Office was uncaring.Keep me in your prayers. I do not want to get more depressed about this.

  8. i have only lost 12 since September. My surgeon is in two days each of the next two weeks and to busy to see me. For the first time in a long time, because of this support group, I had the nerve today to call another surgeon and I am getting a fill next Tuesday. I am having to pay cash and out of network fee for this. At least I will not get to depressed before I see doctor. I know I need a fill because I am actually hungry. At first I could only eat a couple bites, now I can eat three bowls-going back again and again. My surgeon gave me a fill in Nov. for the first time. The fill hurt very much, the surgery didn't. I do not know what size band I have. I never knew about the sizes until you all informed me.

The good news I haven't gained, the better news is I am all excited again. Thank everyone for all the info you have shared. I really was out there on my own until this site!:faint:

Welcome to the "Slow Loser" thread on LBT.

A few orders of business to begin.

First, we need to elect a leader. Someone who will voice our opinion clearly and with wisdom and humor. Our Leader will support us in our efforts and remind us of our NSV's and to not be discouraged.

I nominate - Vinesqueen. I can think of no on here on the board more eloquent and positive in her day to day outlook. (she has no idea about this, by the way - this is my own little invention - but I still think she should be our leader)

Second - we need to define "slow loser". I would propose that a slow loser is someone who is losing (or lost) less than 1 pound per week (average) during the first year of banding.

Third - Our Mission. Our Mission will be to stick together as a group. There is always strength in numbers. As we see newly banded people losing more in a month or six weeks than we have lost in 6 months to a year, we will join together and remind each other of how well we're doing. We'll chant the LBTSL ( that LapBand Talk Slow Loser) mantra of "It's not a race, it's not a race" over and over again.

Will you join me? Will you, a slow loser, a turtle in the weight loss race, make your voice heard amongst all these rabbits? Mostly will you let me know that I am not alone out here in bandland?

Looking forward to hearing from all of you.

  10. Thanks so much. I started with a shake this morning. I once in awhile eat an egg. I am sure I have not ate 1200 calories a day. I am also counting Water and I will count my calories. I will take two shakes a day. Yhanks so much. It looks like you are doing great. I want to and appreciate all the help. Its not like my family wants to talk about it, just mentioning I have not lost much. SURGERY ALMOST 5 MONTHS. Thanks again!

  11. I am 52 and my spider veins went away for the most part after surgery. I had a whole area above my ankle. I am not loosing fast but I am not gaining and very happy to have a new chance at being a normal size. I am even thinking about one year from now and how good I am going to look. I was obsessed about it before hand watching every show about it and reading everything. Once you want it it seems you get driven. Good Luck and enjoy your life.

  12. I was very cold and tired for a month. Now I am fine. I have not had Protein Shakes since the week before and after surgery. I have been trying to eat small meals. I cannot chew beef or chicken enough to not feel terrible after eating. I started excercising but could not go last week. Did not loose anything for three weeks during the excercise. Only my blouses are loose not pants. I eat cottage cheese and Soup. I am going to try some Protein shakes and was thinking of starting diet over as if I just had surggery. Only one fill of 2cc and it about killed me. He was moving the needle around alot and the pressure was very bad when he pressed while filling. The surgery did not hurt and I was walking alot that night in the hospital, and no pain after the next day. The doc said that was because I was out during surgery. I thought fills were painless.
