    Banded Yday And Sore!

Day 2-4 post op were the worst for me. Couldn't really stand up straight, horrible gas pains, couldn't lay flat, throat was killing me too. Day 3 I was seriously questioning what I had done to myself. Everyday I would get a little bit better. Week 2 I was doing pretty well, still had some soreness, not pain, but just some discomfort at the port site. My throat still hurt into week 3 though. Walk walk walk, it hurt in the beginning, but it is so good for you. At first I was only doing 1 lap in my house (only about 50-60 steps), but I would increase a little at a time. Pretty soon I was feeling up to walking outside. Make sure you are taking your pain meds. I took mine every 4 hours for the first 4 days, then only at night to help me sleep. I was off pain meds by day7 or so. It does get better, I promise. Everyday you will feel a little better.

    Post Op Diet

I had my first fill wed and I was on 2 days of full liquids, 1 day of soft and tomorrow I can advance as tolerated. Your dr should give you instructions when you get your fill.
  9. I also had my first fill on wed. My Dr put in 2.5cc, the max this time they would have put in was 3. Each doctor is different, so each will have a different idea of how much should be put in at each fill. Sounds like you are doing awesome even without a fill, so I can't imagine your Dr would be too aggressive. I was on full liquids for 2 days, now on soft foods for 1 day, then advance as tolerated. Good Luck!
  10. I know each insurance is different, but hown long did you have to wait between submitting to your insurance and when they approved it. I'm not talking about how long did it take to meet all the requirements (ie 6 months supervised weight loss...) but how long from the time you met all the requirements and submitted until you got the approval letter. Can you tell I'm submitting to insurance this week?

    First Fill Went Great!

I had my first fill today as well. I got 2.5cc, she started with 3 and had to take some out because it was too tight.
  12. I haven't had a similar experience, but I did want to offer support. You didn't fail your psych exam, It sounds like to me you passed, by getting a dr to confirm something you have suspected, hopefully you can get the help you need to make this process work for you. I know it must be disappointing to delay, but really you will be so much better off for taking care of this now. I wish you the best of luck!

    Protein Shakes

I love premier protein shakes, 30g protein, 160 Cal, and only 1 g sugar. I get them at costco.
  14. congrats on your success so far! You're doing great. I had that buyers remorse on days 2-3. It was horrible, but now I'm in a good place.

    Hi - I'm New Here

I'm so impressed with you for standing up for yourself with that first doctor, and for jumping back on the bandwagon with your new dr. He sounds great that he was willing to work with you and the band instead of jumping right into a revision. You're doing a great job!

Talk Me Out Of My Bummed-Outedness

you're going to be fine. You will just have to find something that you enjoy doing and works for you as well as the elliptical. Are there any other classes at the Y you can try? Do they have ellipticals at the Y?

    6Lbs Til My 1St Goal...

I totally understand. That's one of my goals as well. I was at 305 when I last weighed in as well. Won't weigh in again until Wed and I can't wait to see that 2. You are doing great, keep up the great work!
  21. I have three bags of clothes to donate. I've only been banded about 5 weeks, but I tended to wear my clothes loose to start with, so I have pants that are literally falling off. I also got rid of a lot of winter clothes that will be too big (hopefully) by the time it's cold enough to wear them again. I will be saving one pair of jeans as a reminder. I also arranged my closet with what I can wear now and a section for what almost fits. I tried an "almost fits" pants this morning and they fit!! I still have the spare room closet with clothes that are still way to small for me.
  22. do you have access to water aerobics classes? When my arthritis was flaring up it was the only exorcise I could tolerate. I found a class in a warm water therapeutic pool. It was great!

    Left Shoulder Hurting Some Today

try a heating pad as well. That helped me with the shoulder pain
  24. I'll second the Premier shakes. I tried a bunch of powders: Syntrax nectar, unjury, JayRob and I couldn't stand any of them, I thought they all had a horrible aftertaste. The premier shakes don't have that aftertaste for me. I also like the EAS advantedge carb control shake in strawberry. It only has 17g of Protein, so not nearly as much as permier (30g) but they are good for a difference. I've found EAS at the grocery store, target etc. As for Vitamins my doctor recommends 2 Flinstones chewables a day, so that's what I take. They don't taste as good as I remember though.
