  1. It was only 3 days for me. I was originally told it would take up to 2 weeks. They submitted on Monday and I was approved by Wednesday afternoon. Good luck, I I hope you get approval quickly.
  2. My pre-op testing is scheduled for the 18th. I should be excited right? I am but now it seems real and I'm scared. I want this, I need this, I guess I just need some reassurance from people who have been banded.
  3. Congrats Joel, that's truly amazing! Can you describe what your exercise regimen was/is? How many times a week, what kind of activity? Thanks.

    Here I Go...

Good luck. I know for me the hardest thing so far was making the decision to go to the info session. I'm waiting to be banded, but things are falling into place. I know this is the best decision for me.
  5. Have you called them? If it were me I would have it was 2 weeks. That's just me though, and I'm impatient

    Approved!

Congrats! I know how you feel. Approval came quickly for me, and just yesterday I got the date for my pre-op testing (no surgery date until all testing is done). I should be thrilled it's happening to quickly so why was i in tears last night? Scared, excited, nervous, happy... every emotion rolled into one. You aren't alone, I have found so much useful information and helpful people on this board. Good luck on the rest of your journey
  7. Just got my sample pack of nectar Protein powder.I want to try out different protein powders prior to surgery. So how do use use nectar? Do you mix it with Water? Milk? I tried the fuzzy navel flavor with just water. It wasn't bad. I will be try the rest of the flavors over the next couple of weeks. Any tips are appreciated. Thanks

    Waiting For Lap Band Surgery

I should be in May as well. I just got approval yesterday and my surgeon is booked through the end of April already. I still have to do all the pre-op testing and nutritional class so hopefully it won't seem like that long. Now I'm just waiting to get those things scheduled.

    Unjury Chicken Soup Single-Serve Packet

What unflavored PP do you use? I ordered some samples from unjury, but want to try others if you have suggestions.
  14. I got a letter from my surgeons office yesterday saying that they submitted to my insurance and if I don't hear anything by two weeks to call the insurance company. So the surgeon's office is on it! Hopefully I won't have to wait the whole two weeks, and hopedully I'll get approved.
  15. So it sounds like most people heard back relatively quickly. I am trying not to be too impatient, which is hard for me. I will contact my dr office tomorrow to see if they have submitted(hopefully already) and how long they think it will be. Jim- are you resubmitting once you are officially at 6 months?

    Hello from Indiana

Hi, I'm in indy but i'm going to have surgery at st vincents in carmel. I'm just starting the journey, waiting for insurance approval. They have a band specific support group. I think they are open to anyone (you don't have to be banded at st Vincents to attend). I'll be going to my first one the beginning of April.
  17. I thought I should introduce myself. My name is Colleen and I am 40 years old (just last week). I have decided that now is the time to make the most of my life and get my weight under control once and for all. I had my first consultation with the surgeon yesterday and I have my psych eval next friday. I know many people i my situation, BMI 51, multiple co-morbidities would choose bypass, but I have decided that the band is the best option for me. Luckily for me, y surgeon is willing to work with me. I know it will not be easy, and it will take time, and I'm ok with that. I am making a lifestyle change, not going on another diet. I have read many of the posts on this board, and know that it will be a great resource for me through this journey.
  18. Wow I'm so impressed! Congratulations. I can't wait until I can write a similar post.

    Drinking While Eating?!

This is something I'm really worried about. I didn't notice how much I drink when eaating this until I was told after I'm banded I can't. I don't have a surgery date yet, hopefully in the next month or two, but I started following the drinking guidelines already to break my habit.
