I noticed a lump above my belly button and saw my doctor who told me I have a hernia and would have to have surgery. Ok that's fine but my concern is my surgery is two weeks away and I have been having sharp pains in my left leg that keeps waking me out of my sleep at night which has just started. I don't want anything more serious to happen. Should I call my doctor? Has anyone experienced this? Please help!!

I didn't have a clot but the doc said the pain in my leg was related to the hernia....weird but I haven't felt the leg pain since the surgery.

Hi Chris54 I had to spend a night in the hospital after the surgery. My blood pressure dropped and I wasn't able to hold down solid food. I did have the mesh put in and my doc assured me that I shouldn't have any problems with it. I'm so glad to be home now. Thank you so much.

My surgery is tomorrow at 11:00. I still have a lot of pain but my doctor told me if it's not constant I should be okay until surgery. I'm so happy it's almost over.

Thank you so much Chris54

5 Confessions (Join In)
Demi2 replied to ebthompson2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I confess: *I should be at the gym more often also *I'm a little jealous that my fiancé is losing the weight faster than I am and I hate hearing him say he's lost (whatever) pounds today *I should be drinking more Water and less Gatorade, Powerade and vitaminwater *I want that slice of garlic bread or two *I can't wait to Lose my last 30 pounds I know my confidence is going to be "off the hook" and I don't care I have been overweight for almost 20 years.... it's time to play a new game. -
I was sleeved 2/23 and I'm down 51 pounds from 226 to 175 and that's not exercising as much. It felt so good to hit the onezees ;•} I have been able to eat just about everything. The only thing I'm afraid to try is bread which was my weakness especially garlic bread. it's okAy I don't need it anyway. The only complication I have had was I had to have my gallbladder removed a few weeks ago. As soon as I'm feeling better I have vowed to start going to the gym more. I bought the Insanity workout would like to challenge myself for 30 days I'll see I heard it's a beast....wish me luck I know I'm going to need it.
-
Honeybee I'm praying for you. Praying that GOD will heal you. I'm so sorry you are going through this, trust and believe GOD will pull you through.

My doctor scheduled me for surgery to remove my gallbladder July 3rd. I'm a little nervous.

Three days ago I had the worst stomach pain mostly on my left side and in my back. It was the worst pain I have ever felt in my life. I couldn't hardly walk or lay down it felt like it would never end. So I went to emergency and the doctor said I have gallstones. I called my surgeon and he has me coming in to see him on Wednesday. The problem is the pain is still there not as back because I have been taking vicodin around the clock and really bad headaches that have not gone away. Help!! I have heard you vmcan get gallstones from rapid weight loss. Has anyone else experience this? I am now 5 months post-op and so happy for the 42 pound loss bit the pain is crazy!!
-
What about the headaches? Did anyone experience them and what did you do to get relief?
-
M2G.... I told my husband the same thing. I would rather go through childbirth again then go through that.
-
I'm hoping for my doctor to just give me medication and it works. If Not then it does sound like surgery will be in my future again. I don't min though because I never want to feel that pain again.
-
It really is called a jealous friend. I have a co-worker I told I was having the surgery she told me so many negative things about it, then I found out she asked her doctor If she qualified. He told her no which made her even more upset. I came back from work 3 months later and 40 pounds lighter she walked right by me. Oh well!! Our gain....confidence, health and happiness.

I am almost 5 weeks post-op and have been having trouble with eggs, hummus, Greek yogurt, oatmeal, protein shakes it seems just about anything that I eat. My stomach does this sickening feeling which causes me not to want to eat. I have only been able to take in 100-250 calories on a good day and that's if I eat crackers and peanut butter. That's the only thing that doesn't make me feel sick. I need help!! I want to be able to eat more.

Emlefe I'm not getting that much Water in but I'm trying. I don't want to end up in the hospital so I'm forcing the fluids. I am taking a PPI but it doesn't seem to help. I am going to call my doctor or NUT for help tomorrow. I am going to introduce for light seafood to my sleeve. I am going to try different Proteins. Thank you fonthe different options.

Gramaof4 Thank you so much for all the great information. I am going shopping tomorrow for fish and shrimp. It will give me more Protein and calories. I have been feeling so horrible lately and need more protein and calories. I appreciate it so much.

How far post-op do you have to be to enjoy edamames. I'm on soft foods now. That was my go to snack pre-surgery and I am really excited about reintroducing these back into my diet.

I was sleeved Feb. 23rd (almost 4 weeks post-op) and the only problem I'm having is getting enough fluids in. I have lost 22 pounds so far. Pretty good. I am so happy I stumbled on this forum. I love being able to talk to my African American sleevers. No hair loss yet but just really dry skin but I'm chalking that up to being dehydrated.
