What Cant You Eat Now?
ThisTimeIsIt replied to JentryB2020's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I can't eat anything with milk or whey - both cause stomach cramps and almost immediate diarrhea. Other than that I haven't had too many other problems - couldn't tolerate spices at first but slowly starting to add them back in with no problems. -
I think being sleeved with your spouse is a great idea. My biggest down fall with my fiancé is him understanding that I can't eat the way we used to. Best of luck to you both - can't wait to see your progress

Ate Too Fast.......
ThisTimeIsIt replied to carriecat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had a problem with eating too fast as well - usually I will just try and walk if I feel uncomfortable after eating. Dr advised against throwing up at the support group I went to. -
I love the jar idea. My rewards have been geared towards taking care of me pedicures, manicures, hair cuts, dye jobs, threading, new earrings are some of the ones I've done so far. Another idea someone had given me was to put aside a set amount of money per pound and use that for new clothing budget.

The reason I went thru Oband was my insurance covered everything except for the co pays with nutritionist and psychologist and anastesiogist - total out of pocket for me was less than $300. My friend had surgery the same time as me with Dr Hanna also in Vegas her out of pocket was higher (same ins as me) but he offers samples of Vitamins and Proteins and support groups that he personally runs every other month along with a support group ran by a bariatric nurse monthly. I've crashed his support groups because I need the extra support and follow up that he provides to his clients. With Oband I feel like most of my support has been on here and with dr hanna's two support group meetings - however Oband is trying to increase their support they did have one support group meeting since I've been sleeved and were talking about having more. I can ask them if they will have another when I go in for 3 mos check up on the 20th. If there was more follow up and support with o band I'd recommend them again and again just on price alone but I definitely need the extra live in person support! An example if this is I was having sharp pains 2 mos out and called Oband but dr Lyass was not in and neither was his coordinator - the girl who answered the phone did not know when dr lyass would be back in and I didn't hear back from the coordinator on the message I left her and it was Friday so I went to the er close to my house since they have a bariatric center of excellence rating. As for the self pay question Dr Hanna and Oband both will take self pays as well. I had a friend that also did self pay with dr Hanna. Both My friends loves dr Hanna and since he is here in town all the time it isn't hard to make an appointment to see him at any time. With Oband u don't meet the surgeon dr lyass until the day of the surgery since he is from LA and then you see him again at your 1 week and 3 mos checkup. So I guess it just depends on how much follow up you want. If u just want low cost in and out Oband is the way to go!

Yep I went thru Oband on April 13th. I am about 2 1/2 months out and can only eat about a 1/4 of a cup at this point.

Dr Lyass did my surgery in Vegas too! I had no idea we could email him our questions- that would have helped out tremendously if I had been given that information.

I am trying to treat myself for every 10 #s I lose (12-14 rewards rewardsin total) What are some low cost rewards some of you are using? Trying to keep big $ items for closer to goal? So far for first 30#s down I've gotten my hair cut, eyebrows threaded and hair dyed. Need to figure out what to do for 40 and beyond! What are your suggestions?

Rewards For Weight Loss
ThisTimeIsIt replied to ThisTimeIsIt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you all for the great suggestions -
I am about 2 1/2 months out and beef jerky is pretty much the only way I get in decent protein - I just make sure to drink more cause it's higher in sodium

Anyone Lose 100+ & Not Need Plastics
ThisTimeIsIt posted a topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Just wondering if anyone has lost 100+ pounds and not needed plastics. I can't imagine being able to afford plastics but I also can't imagine my skin shrinking back into place. I guess we will see as I lose the weight . -

I am hoping some of you can help me out - don't know if I should make an appoinment with the doctor or not... I am 3 weeks post op. Prior to surgery I was lactose intolerant but now it is so bad even taking the lactaid pills doesn't work. And now even "lactose free" and dairy free Protein shakes give me cramping and diarrhea. I've tried taking gas X and lactaid pills with the shakes with no help. I was able to start on soft foods, but only able to get down 2 maybe 2.5 oz at each meal. I worry that I am going to end up malnourished and dehydrated and don't know what to do at this point. If I'm only eating 2 ounces of protien 3 times a day I know that is no where near my recommonded protein intake. How long until my stomach should be healed enough that I can eat 4 ounces of protein. Should I call the doctor and explain my problem, or is this normal. Thanks for your help everyone!!!!

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
ThisTimeIsIt replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved 4/13 and also have no appetite. I can't drink the protein shakes for some reason anymore either, they make me physically ill (and I've tried about 10 different ones recently). I am able to eat a selection of soft foods now, but worry without the protein shakes I'm not getting in enough protein or calories. Most day my water intake is about 60 ounces and I can only eat at the most 3 ounces per meal. I feel like the more water I take in the less I actually want to eat.
