Good for you, Sohpie! I've done the same the last few weeks--added 3 days of water aerobics to my 3 days of Curves. Don't know if it's helping or not yet but I'm committed! Good luck--sounds like you are going above and beyond, for sure.

I've only had my band 7 months but I get the pain after the first few bites of food every time I eat and then again when I'm full. It stays for 10-15 minutes and then subsides. If I don't stop eating at that point, I PB. It's my "warning sign."

Yes, that is what my doctor advised me to do. I don't know if it helps with getting to the "sweet spot" but it's supposed to be better for the band. Notmzperfect--yes, that feeling is perfectly normal. It will slowly go away. I went back to work on Friday after being banded on Monday and I was fine (sore but fine). I do have a desk job and if I had it to do over I would have waited until a week post surgery to go back to work. You'll be fine. Congrats on being in bandland!

Welcome, Gentylwind! I'm so sorry to hear about your son--I just can't even imagine how it would be to lose a child. That must be one of the hardest things a mother has to deal with in life. My heart goes out to you. Congrats on your decision to be banded--it sounds like you are in a great place mentally as well as physically. The time will be here before you know it--good job trying to get healthier before banding. I'm afraid I'd see the holidays as a huge free-for-all before I got banded. You're a great example.

Thanks, Janine. Your advice is worth a lot more than 2 cents! I think you are right--why mess with a good thing right now? I'll wait until November and see how things are going by then and decide whether or not to get a small fill then. But, right now, I'M HAPPY!

Hey Marchies! I'm celebrating--reached ONE-derful ONE-derland this weekend and I'm staying there forever! I even weighed late last night "to be sure" because I always weigh several lbs more at night and sure enough, even at my heaviest time I was 199.3. Woohoo! My last fill (my 10th) really helped. I finally feel like a bandster--small servings, golf ball and hiccups sometimes, breakfasts are hard to get down, I'm not hungry all the time, I'm losing weight, etc. I have a fill scheduled on Wednesday and can't decide whether or not to cancel. I also have one for two weeks after that so I may skip this one to give myself more time at this level and then take that next one if I need it before Thanksgiving. What do you think? I MADE IT! Woohoo! I thought I was there on Friday but, well, you know... After a few days though, I finally believe it! Hope to never see TWOterville again. 10 fills and those pesky ups and downs but I'm on the track and finally losing. Hooray! (Can you tell I'm excited???)

yes, I think that's true but there are some of us who seem to have it hang on way after the gas subsides (like 7 months now for me). But mine only comes when I'm starting to eat too much. I think there is a nerve there that is somehow near or trapped into the band and it screams when irritated by food. My theory.

We have the same fill now, Carol (and we were banded a day apart). I'm actually feeling good restriction and learning how not to PB--especially in the morning. I did eat a hot dog last night with some pears and cottage cheese and could finish all but one bite of the bun so I'm not sure I'm quite there but I'm really close so I'm very excited! Let those scales move--onederland, here I come. Good luck, Carol!

I actually like my left shoulder pain--it's my "soft stop" when I'm eating. Once I have the pain I know I better wait until it stops or stop eating altogether or it will get way worse and then I'll PB. My husband can always tell that I'm through when I unconsciously put my right hand up to my shoulder blade and start rubbing it. I don't get the "stuck pill" feeling until it's way too late to avoid a PB. So...I LIKE it!

I had my 10th fill yesterday--too early to know if it's working well this time. I now have 3.7 in my 4 cc band. I'm on mushies today and so had oatmeal for breakfast. I ate about 3/4 c. and it went down fine after waiting after the first two bites (since they seemed problematic). Hope solids make a difference with this fill--I'll know more tomorrow.

Oh, Janine, hang in there! Three teens is truly the test of your character, isn't it? I know what you mean by issues--there are always those, aren't there? Small crises abound with big ones mixed in to keep you on your toes. Sometimes the tunnel seems like it will never end but it does and now I look back and wonder how it went by so fast. I worry so much about my grandkids with the way society is--you want to protect them but know you can't and you don't want to anyway because they need to learn to cope and make good choices but it's just so dang hard. Their innocence really does vanish overnight and that is definitely worth mourning the loss. But they have each other and they are so lucky to have you. Believe in your instincts and know that this, too, shall pass--and probably more quickly than you expected or even hoped for--and you will have made a huge difference in their lives. Be sure to take time for yourself--housework can wait, you'll have plenty of time for that after the kids have left home. I wiped a 4-year-old dirty hand print off one of my new walls today and realized just how long it's been since I was chasing little hand prints. That reminds me of something I used to tell myself: "oh, to feel the touch of this tiny hand in mine and live for this moment." Good luck. You are entitled to a few bad days--you will get through these tough times and everyone will be better for it. Honest! Just curious, did you adopt all of your children? How long has your daughter been with you? I'll bet she's just precious. Teenage boys, on the other hand... You gotta love 'em though--what energy, tenacity, adventure! Congrats, Trying! My doc told me that any weight I lose in the beginning is a bonus but not to count on it so it sounds like you have a nice bonus already. Let the journey begin!

Ditto--we were worried about you Kythera. Glad you checked in! Well, I actually have ten children--all boys but nine (that's what my son prefers that I tell people). Here are the answers to the questions that are probably swimming in your mind since they are the ones people always ask me: no, we don't have any twins or triplets; yes, they are all natural children from my husband and I--no step children; yes, it was a challenge keeping up with the laundry--at least 2 loads per day; no, the boy wasn't last, he's 5th; the oldest is 38 and the youngest is 20; they all get along and are very supportive of each other--always have been; they live all over the country but tend to "cluster" together; all attended college and seven have advanced degrees; yes, there were many times of unbridled chaos; Christmas is wonderful but is such a time; and, we feel very blessed. So now you know the basics. Nature is catching up though with all five of our grandchildren being boys. But our first granddaughter should be here within the week since she was due yesterday and her big brother was a few days early. Exciting times for us all--can't wait to meet this little person! So, thanks for asking! I'm sure that's more than you wanted to know but I love to talk about my kids--I'm fiercely proud of them all, as you can tell.
