you will be fine, It is more an emotional issue than anything else. My surgery was back in August 2011 and I can't believe it is 7 months gone already. I was just as nervous as you are tonight and take everyone's word for it, it is really nothing to worry about. Congradulations and hurry back online to let us know how you are doing with your journey.

From the album: Dawn's progress report
February 2012 147.0 pounds. -
I am still losing very slowly but was glad to see what Aspiring Evangelist wrote about her doctor saying it is normal to have the losse and then the stalls. My doctor said he is happy with the way things are going with my loss but as with most of us we want it to be faster. I am back on track and will start keeping up with this tread. Glad to have so many support groups available here.

Consignment Descrimination!
dawnr replied to AliveAgain's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I would say keep looking there is bound to be other shops that would take them...Of you might even put an ad in your local paper. If you don't need the money right now (of course who doesn't need money now.. lol) you can donate them and use the tax write off. I did that and it was amazing how much of a deduction it gave me on my taxes. Either way I am happy for you that you have lost enough weight to have clothes to get rid of. Congradulations -
Hi all I am from Dacono (just east of Longmont near I-25) It would be great to have a get together sometime for the Colorado Sleevers I would love to have more personal support. What do you think? My process is going slower than I had hoped but every pound is less than what I weighed before and I'm thrilled about it.

Tagine- The Most Perfect Meal For Gastric Sleevers!
dawnr replied to chef neil's topic in Soft (stage 3)
Is the tangine the same thing as a clay pot? I have a clay pot and wonder if it would work as well....I know I have to soak the clay pot for about 15 minutes before using it. but it sounds like it would do the same thing as the tangine. -
A "better Late Than Never" 1 Year Anniversary 1/2 Marathon Update - With Pics *long*

What a wonderful inspiring story. I wish I could do something like that...I have a bad back (I had surgury for it in 2008) and can't run but walking is fine as long as I take it easy. I think I should start a walking marathon for people like myself...you wouldn't have to walk a timed, race just need to finish. I know there are walking clubs and need to find one in my area. Keep up the good work and congradulations. -
In The Beginning (My Current Story)
dawnr commented on VSG 4 Me's blog entry in A Winning Loser with VSG
I have the sleeve and so far I can still take aleve but only on occasion. I use tylenol mostly but when my back pain gets bad enough I will take an aleve...My doctor said it is all on the individual's system. I still advise not to take it. I am sure you will have success with the sleeve. You can't over eat because you will get so full. You can cheat by eating the wrong things...I try to stay away from carbs (although that hasn't been easy since I'm a carbaholic) But if you eat protein fruits and veggies you will do great. Just don't graze...that seems to be a problem with the weight loss for everyone who do it. Good luck with your sleeve you will do wonderful. -
My daugher had the band and for the past year and a half I've watched her go thru the trials of food getting stuck and having the fills and draining done and refilled from time to time. I admit that this is not the case for everyone. When making my decision I jumped at the idea of the sleeve as it is so much easier to live with. Make sure you do your research and make a decision on what is best for you. Good luck. I love my sleeve.

It seems that every time I eat lately I feel a tightening up at the top of the stomache, It has been happening for about a week now and I wondering if anyone else is having the same thing. It doesn't matter what I eat or drink it happens. It has been 7 weeks since my surgery.

stomache tightness when eating

I think I have been eating too fast and need to concentrate more on eating slower and the size of the bites I am taking. Thanks for the reply I guess I just needed someone else to tell me what I knew I was doing wrong. -
August 2011 sleevers get in here!!!!!!
dawnr replied to blackmikeg's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on August 9th and have lost 12 pounds so far. The doctor said since I don't have a huge amount of weight to lose that this is a good average loss. He expects me to lose about 10lbs per month. I have been on solid food since the beginning of my 3rd week and have done great I still get the "bubbles" when I eat on occasion but it depends on what I eat. I have yet to figure out exactly what causes it specifically, but am working on it. I have been able to eat and drink anything I want but have to be careful not to overdo it. At times I get busy and don't take my time as I should and find I end up with a bit of a "full" tummy. All in all I feel I'm doing great and happy to be in this elite club of sleevers. -
Chances are you may have been able to do some of it yourself but the reality is that even if you did get some of the weight off in most experiences it would not stay off. The sleeve is a tool to help you not only get it off but keep it off. I for one am thrilled at the idea I now have a way of getting the weight of and keeping it off. Don't doubt your decision it is going to prove to be the best thing you ever did. Good luck.

I agree about the carbs, I try to avoid them for the most part and concentrate on the proteins also. I saw the doctor for my check up today and I've lost 10lbs since my surgery. The doctor was happy with that and said slow loss is better for me since I have less to lose. I can't do the Protein Shakes. For some reason they give me a stomache ache. The doctor said to get my protein from my food instead. He also said that I can cut down the total protein from 75 grams to at least 50 grams. I am short only 4'10' and he said I don't need 75 grams of protein so I can stop stressing about getting so much protein. That was a relief for me as I have been feeling really worried about not getting enough protein. I also think that since I am not going to be eating constantly to consume so much protein I will see a better weight loss on my next visit. It is all a learning experience, but one that I am so glad to be working on.

I have a zucchini in the fridge and thanks to your suggestion I'm going to go fix it now for both a snack tonight and left overs for tomorrow's dinner. Thanks for the idea.
