Well when I went for the consult I was told that I had an exclusion on my ins. For any weight loss surgery which I already knew, but I was thinking of doing self pay. Omg! When they told me my payments would be almost 300 a month I was like I think I'm gonna pass but then they said the only way that your insurance will pay half is if you have a hernia that needs to be repaired. I was so wishing and hoping for a freakin hernia..lol...and well yay I had one. I don't know how many people would wish for one but I did because that was going to cover 4500 and the balance I just paid cash so I wouldn't be charged interest. Also I quailfied by half of a pound they said I weighed in at 207.8 so I'm sure you qualify. You can check you plan online if your able to sign up online or even call the 1800 number behind your insurance card for information on your coverage with wls.

Well today is my 10th day post op and I feel really bad this morning. I had my surgery on 3/13 and was back to work in one week which I think I should have taken another week off . I thought I would be fine since most of my time is at a desk but I think that is the worst part. I work in the medical field so I deal with patients for the first 4hrs that I'm there and then sit at my desk the other 8hrs since I work a 12 hr shift. Sitting at my desk is killing me by the time I get up I am in so much pain and feel so stiff like I can move its horrible. Does anyone know of something to help with the pain that I can take there at work? I have to go in tonight again omg so not ready for another night like this.

Thanks everyone for your information. I called the doctors office but didn't get a phone call back not good cause I have to work another 12hr shift tonight. Oh well I'm just gonna have to deal with this for now cause the I can't take the pain killers here at work or ill pass out. -
I'm sorry I'm just gonna but in here if that's okay..lol.. I have 4 children and have told all of them about me having my surgery and all but one my 10 year old daughter did not like the idea. She said if I want to lose weight the just do it by diet and exercise well I had to explain to her how many times I had been through diets over and over, also she has seen me very sick these 2 past years with other medical issues so I told her its because I wanna be there for you when its time to say yes to the dress. I want to see my grandchildren I want to be around to see my family grow and this surgery will benefit not only me but our entire family and finally she understood. I don't want my kids to see this as a easy way out because it not it is a lot of work that we have to put into it. Our entire life changes. Why do you not want her to know about the surgery?

I was banded on 3/13 and back to work on 3/19. I work in a sleep diagnostic center so very light work. I work 12hr shifts but it hasn't been so bad. Good luck to all of you that are returning to work.

I really hope you start feeling better soon. If not make sure to call your doctor because if you not keeping anything down you really need iv fluids. When I was released the doctor send me with pain meds hydrocodone and also meds for nausea. Sometimes the pain meds can make you want to vomit so its good to have something for nausea as well. Did they give you anything?

That's good hope you start feeling a lot better I know its tough to move around those first few days. Just make sure to keep walking around I would walk every hour for 5-10 min and I think that helped me recover very well. Keep us posted on your recovery.

Anyone here have their lapband in San Antonio? I am from San Antonio and had my lapband here so I thought it would be kind of cool to stay in touch with some locals and see how we progress together.
-
. I sure will. I am just so happy I don't have to do hard labor work or I would had to take time off. But nope sit a desk most of my shift so I can do that.
-
Doing okay a lot better today so that's a good thing. I have to go back to work tommorow and plus I really need to get out of the house..lol
-
Oh I thought you had it done in san antonio....that's where mine was done. How are you feeling.
-
Where did you have your surgery?
-
Good to hear your doing well from your surgery. I am 5 days post op and I had not lost anything till this morning I got on the scale and finally 2lbs down so just give it a little more time you will be fine. I think its because of the fluids and that our body is swollen after surgery.

4 Days Post-Op, Still No Bm And Hunger Issues?
jackieu replied to alliemichelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also was banded on 3/13/12 I was worried yesterday because I hadn't had a bm so I took milk of magnesia and last night I finally had a bm. I would recommend taking some to help you out. -
I am 5 days post op today and feel so much better. The gas pains are gone and I am able to walk around a lot better oh my gosh that pain when getting in and outta bed is so much better now. I still have a hard time taking in shakes I can do a max of 2oz 3x daily and less than half of a jello. This morning I actually got a greek yogurt and have about 3oz I am just so sick of those shakes. Oh my that yogurt was so good. I followed my pre op diet all the way and now I have one more day post op diet to have mushies which yogurt is one wth I had to cheat screw it I can't eat much anyways and wanna make sure I am getting some protein. Does anyone know of protien shots or if there is anything else I can take for protien since I'm not eating much right now? I also lost 2lbs since surgery...yay!
-
I'm sorry I know for some people the gas last a little longer hope you start to feel better soon. Are you using a heating pad? I think the heating pad really helped me with comfort.
-
Wow you are able to eat chicken pot pie already that must be nice. I can't even take in 2oz if my protein shakes at a time. I'm to scared to have anything else but the shakes or jello. Did you do okay with eating the chicken pot pie? How much where you able to get down? Also did you blend it? As you can tell I want something with flavor..lol
