NEED ANSWERS FROM ALL YOU POST OPS...PLEASE
racheal218 replied to yazzy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Yazzy, congratulations! I was sleeved on 3/06/12 so I'm coming up on my first anniversary and although I was extremely nervous too it was the best decision I've ever made. I'm healthier and happier and soon you will be too. Try your hardest to stick with the liquid diet and start walking as soon as you can the day of your surgery. Believe it or not walking brought more relief to me then the pain meds. Be prepared for extreme dry mouth the day of your surgery until the next day when they can ex ray you to make sure there are no leaks and just remember you will be able to feel hydrated again. The first time you try to poop it will feel like you forgot how but that's only temporary and for some people doesn't happen at all. Most importantly be easy on yourself, ask more of others for a time and really think water, protein, water, protein...the most amazing thing was from the minute I woke up from surgery, the constant cravings were gone. Best of luck to you, go for it! -
It took me around a month to feel normal. The medicine they gave me made me feel worse. But the good news is it steadily got better so every day felt better than the previous. I was sleeved on 3-6-12, and wouldn't change it for the world but that first month I might not have been inclined to say that:) best of luck and keep your chin up.

Can I just say how much I appreciate my sleeve? I felt like I wasn't doing things all together right but I felt great so I wasn't going to stress myself out over it. I got on the scale expecting not to have lost much since last week and eight more pounds was gone. I was sooo happy and thankful, just wanted to share. Thanks for giving me the forum!

Non Drinker Craving Alchol?

Before my surgery I rarely drank more than a few sips of my husbands cold beer every blue moon. Starting last week I have been craving alcohol just out of the blue. Has any one else experienced this? Is it some kind of deficiency? I don't think alcohol has any nutritional value but I'm wanting it for some reason lol.

Please Help Im Post Op 5 Days
racheal218 replied to chasitybeatty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you have a GNC near you I would try isopure. It's 40grams of Protein, in 20oz liquid the consistency of water. Alpine punch is the best flavor IMO, but there's also pineapple banana, grape and one blue one I can't remember but I think it's some kind of raspberry. Good luck for sure. Be good to yourself and trust you'll get your energy back. I'm almost four weeks post op and vacuumed yesterday. Slowly but surely, you'll start to feel normal again. At least that's what I hear everyone saying:) Sent from my iPad using VST -

Hi there, I was sleeved on 3/6 and can only speak to my experience. If someone can stay with you the first day you get home that would be great. You need some support. My first week after surgery I could only have sugar free popsicles, w low sodium broth, Water ( you can add sugar free sweetener), and clear Protein drink, mine was Isopure from GNC, alpine punch is really good! After my first week check up I could have full liquids strained cream based Soups, strained oatmeal, skim milk, Bari essential Protein shakes and of course Jello. I'm on this until next tues. When I can start blended. I know your in pre op right now, it will be totally worth it and I'm excited for you. The thing that helped me the most was hearing my pre op nurse say-" the quicker you get up and walk, and walk as often as you can, the faster you'll heal and be out of pain" I started walking two hours after my surgery, walked every hour( down the hall and back) and only had to have pain meds three times. To prepare food wise, this would be my start- Case of isopure- $50 for 12 (one a day so almost two weeks worth) Crystal light lemonade chicken broth, low sodium Sugar free Popsicles Jello, sugar free Kashi plain oatmeal Cream of wheat Cream of soups- chicken, mushroom Any heart healthy Soup that can be strained Good luck for sure!

I had my surgery on 3/6 and I'm still only allowed full liquids- totally jealous. I can't start mushies until next week but I'm totally in love with isopure alpine punch. One bottle is 40grams of protein. They're pricy but less than I used to pay for one trip through the fast food line:) -

I had my surgery last week and had staples removed today. The asked if I've had any problems with acid reflux or heartburn and I haven't but I've read on here were a lot of people do experience it. The nurse then asked if I was taking my prilosec and I had completely forgot, as soon as I got home I took my first dose, an hour later I had the worst case of heartburn and stomach bubble...this is very strange to me. Other than this little issue everything else has been going great and I've lost 22 lbs:)
