  1. Was sleeved on 3-12. Tomorrow is my 2 wk check up. The 1st week, i lost 10 lbs, and haven't lost a lb since! How can i go all week long on less than 500 cal and not lose anything? All I ate (drank) is water and protein shakes, and 1/2 can thinned soup a day. Any ideas?

    7Th Day Post Op Vsg

My VSG bible says to advance to full liquids on 5th day, stay on full liquids 2 wks then go to pureed/soft. So I tried cream of mushrm soup today, so that's what i was taking bites of.
  4. 7th day post op. When I eat anything thicker than a protein milk shake, like cream of mushroom soup, it kinda hurts in my stomach, a sharp kinda pain. Goes away within seconds. But happens with every attempt. Have tried taking much smaller bites, and go slower, and it doesn't help. Could this possibly mean that I should stay at thinner consistency foods and try again tomorrow? That I'm just not ready yet?

    Surgery Date 3/15/12

My doc did not have me do liquid diet pre-op either. He told me to do the induction phase of Atkins starting 10 days before my surgery date. When I asked him why not the liquid, as I've read so many other people's dr put them on, he explained that it's been his experience that the liver looks no different in pts that've been on liquid Protein as opposed to protein only food. The day before surgery, I ate half pound of bacon & 2 cheeseburgers with no bun. He said my liver looked awesome. Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Surgery For Sleeve In Am!

I live in Roland, which is on the ark/okla stateline. I had my sleeve in van buren, ark by dr Travis goodnight. My 2nd choice was weight wise in Edmond, and I hear they run specials occasionally for $9000. I am self pay, I tried the insurance route but I have no co-morbities. Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Surgery For Sleeve In Am!

Well.....I'm still alive & it wasn't near as bad as childbirth! No cakewalk, but not horrible. I just got back from my swallow studies & doc said everything looks great. Will be discharged today. I'm very sore in my abdomen, kinda feels like I did 1000 sits ups yesterday--that kinda sore. I waked around the halls twice last nt, & have been getting up and down to the bedside commode a million times. Worst part really is urinary retention, it's really hard to get started & then when I do pee its only like a medicine cup full at a time. But it's getting better. Supposed to be discharged today. Surgery For Sleeve In Am!

oh I will girl! I'm trying to figure out the iphone app so I can post from my hosp bed
  11. Scheduled for sleeve surgery in a.m.! IT'S FINALLY HERE! I am excited yet anxious about the post-op pain. Hopefully it's not worse than childbirth w/no pain meds. Anybody else out there goin in tomorrow? I'm from Oklahoma - I need a buddy but they don't necessarily hafta be from Oklahoma. I have 77 lbs to lose for my goal weight of 135 lbs. And can anybody tell me how to attach that ticker thing that shows ur weightloss timeline?
  12. I called my insurance about this, just incase I did go to Mexico and have it done, and they told me that if I had any problems afterward, that my health insurance would cover it, cuz it goes by "diagnosis", not by who did what surgery and where. So, God forbid, you get an infection, they cover the admitting diagnosis, the reason why it's infected or whatever has nothing to do with it. That being said, I would wait the 6 months, just incase insurance pays for it, it'll save u a ton of $, and then u can use that loan money to get new boobs or tummy tuck, which insurances will never pay for. Just my opinion, good luck!
  13. I am an RN with 20 years ICU experience. 5-7 surgerys a day for a surgeon is a slow day for docs in the U.S. Loud, obnoxious smells? Welcome to ICU. Don't let those aspects sway you. It's not better here, it's all part of being in the hospital.

    Failed Almanza Sleeve

(sorry to highjack your post, Vickie!) So, the important question to ask the MD is how far away from the SIZE of the Bougie do they sew then, not necessarily the size of it, correct?
