  1. This is a recipe that my nutritionist gave me in my surgery packet. This was under the liquid stage section.

1 can enchilada sauce (green, preferably)

    3/4 can non-fat evaporated milk

1/2 evaporated milk ( or unflavored Protein powder)

8oz can chopped tomatoes with chilis

    1tsp garlic powder

3-14oz cans chicken broth, low sodium

1 can or 2c shredded chicken

    1 small onion chopped

Saute onion in skillet. In a pot (Dutch oven sized) combine all canned ingredients, add onion and garlic. Meanwhile, if using fresh chicken, boil until done. Add shredded chicken to Soup. Simmer for 20-45 minutes. Blend

I wrote the recipe exactly as it is in my packet. Hope you enjoy :) haven't tried it yet.

  2. Bean Soup would not have been on my list of approved foods for a liquid diet (at least not the beans)---I was on clear liquids for the first 2 weeks. So 5 days out might be pushing it. I would also consider the gas as well. If it were me' date=' I would stick to the bean broth untill i was on purees.--just my 2 cents worth.[/quote']

    Appreciate it :)

I was thinking to save it for next week when I begin pureed stage. I only have to be on clear liquids for days 1-4 then add full liquids on days 5-7 and after that the blended/pureed. I'm just trying to figure out what kind of Soups I can make on my own to reduce the sodium. I've purchased creamed soups and thin them out.

I definitely don't wanna mess anything up

  3. Here's the recipe from pinterest :)

    1 tablespoon olive oil

    2 medium-size red onions, chopped

1 medium-size red bell pepper, chopped

1 medium-size green bell pepper, chopped

    4 garlic cloves, minced

    4 teaspoons ground cumin

1 16-ounce package dried black Beans

1 tablespoon chopped canned chipotle chiles*

    7 cups hot Water

    2 tablespoons fresh lime juice

    2 teaspoons coarse Kosher salt

    1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

    1 cup plain nonfat yogurt

1/2 cup chopped seeded plum tomatoes

    1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

    Preparation

Heat olive oil in large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add onions and both bell peppers and sauté until beginning to brown, about 8 minutes. Add garlic and cumin; stir 1 minute. Transfer mixture to 6-quart slow cooker. Add Beans and chipotles, then 7 cups hot Water. Cover and cook on high until beans are very tender, about 6 hours. Transfer 2 cups bean mixture to blender; puree until smooth. Return puree to remaining Soup in slow cooker. Stir in lime juice, salt, and pepper.

Ladle soup into bowls. Spoon dollop of yogurt into each bowl. Sprinkle with tomatoes and cilantro and serve.

*Chipotle chiles canned in a spicy Tomato sauce, sometimes called adobo, are available at Latin American markets and many supermarkets.

    Test-kitchen tip

Add richness to slow-cooker Soups by using a mixture of half broth and half water instead of only water.

  4. I love Ice Cubes (peppermint) by Ice Breakers. I don't really think gum is recommended though. I haven't had a fill yet' date=' but once I do I will be giving it up. I can only imagine how bad it would be to accidentally swallow it once I have restriction!!!![/sub']

You're right, it's not recommended. I'm being very careful plus I've never swallowed gum but it'll be just my luck. I'll probably switch to sf peppermints but gum has been my long time friend :)

I noticed almost all gum is sugar free but my nutritionist gave me a list and it said anything with mannitol, xylitol or anything ending with "ol" or "ose" be cautious. I think they just fear us swallowing it.

I think I'm with you on that one.

  5. Hi

I was wondering would bean Soup still be apart of the"full liquid" phase or blended stage? I'm allowed cream Soups amongst other things but was just wondering. I have this bean soup recipe from pinterest that I'm excited to try.

    Thanks in advance :)

  6. Hi everyone.

Tomorrow I will be 2 months post-op and have lost 36pounds(counting pre-op). I'm very excited I am half way to my goal weight of 165. And will hopefully see 199 tomorrow when I step on the scale. I have learned a lot these last few months. First thing I would do is join www.myfitnesspal.com it is a great way to track your food and exercise.....feel free to add me as a buddy' date=' my username is the same (waitingpatiently)But the best advise I can give those about to join us on this journey is to educate yourself....read everything!! That way every pain doesn't freak you out and you have comfort in knowing you are prepared for the journay. To help you on your way I have copied my Pre-op shopping list below. Don't feel like you need to go buy everything on the list, but these are just suggestions of things that made things easier on me after surgery. I have posted these numberous times (sorry if you have already seen it) but I still get about 5 requests a week for a copy. If you have something that helped you along the way, please feel free to let me know....I will gladly add it to the list. As for the stage1-3 food list.....every doctor is different.....it is YOUR responsibility to know if a certain food is not allowed by your physican....they are all different. I would suggest you take the list to your physican and have him mark off/add the things he wants. If you want a more printer friendly copy emailed to you, please inbox me your email. I have tried so many times to figure out a way to attach the list to the thread...but it just keeps telling me I'm not autherized. Good luck to everyone!! If you have any questions feel free to inbox me.

  7. HOW DID U GET THE AIR TO MOVE TO BURP???? THIS GAS PAIN IS KILLING ME!!!!!

Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

I have been walking, taking sips of Water, they prescribed me Docusate the stool softener and I've been taking Gas-X strips faithfully. I think that has helped tremendously. I hope your gas moves around and out very soon. I know how you are feeling. The gas pains are worse than the pains from the incisions (in my opinion).

  8. Banded May 14th' date=' and doing well with minimal discomfort.

One thing, my legs and hips are achy when I lay down..strange. And I still fell bloated and swollen.

How is everyone else doing ?

    Nita[/quote']

Hi! I was banded May 15th and the gas has been the most uncomfortable for me. A little soreness around the largest incision on the side. Today I feel better, been burping a lot so that gas is moving around, thank goodness. The swelling is going down pretty good and I get to remove my bandages today.

I hope your hip pain goes away soon and that you find comfort :)

  9. Well today is the day! Not nervous about surgery just the needles; I really hate needles. Have to b at hospital at 9. Everyone please keep me in your prayers. Wish me luck

Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk

May God be with you and calm your fears of any kind. Good luck! You will do great!!

  10. I too had surgery yesterday... I had the lapband with plication. Came home from hospital today. Im a little sore but not enough for pain meds.

    Awesome! We are twins :)

I'm sore also, I took my pain meds to help with the pain while i move around. It was difficult for me to sleep last night due to the gas pains. But today I'm feeling better. I went in yesterday morning and was discharged early afternoon.

    Feel better soon :)

    Lala

  11. Excited for you!!!! I begin my journey tomorrow!!! How is the pain going for you? I have to have a hernia fixed as well as be banded. I am planning on going back to work on Monday.

My pain is minimal. Mostly discomfort from the gas and I'm a little sore around my biggest incision. Gas-X strips have been my friend. No real desire to eat just enjoying sf Popsicles. I do miss my coffee with Creamer though :)

I think you'll do great. Just make sure you're up walking around afterwards. It helps with the gas and it helps you feel better overall. Good luck!

Update when you're feeling up to it.
