  1. I'm a coffee lover as well and I can totally relate to what you're saying.

I've tried to convert to skim milk in my coffee but it's DEFINITELY an adjustment. During my pre op diet I used lite or fat free creamer(coffee mate powder). And I still lost 18lbs during that time. So I'd say as long as its lite or fat free, you're good. Since I've been banded I've only had 2 cups of coffee with the lite Creamer and I felt fine.

I was instructed to drink decafe which is what I drank anyway. As far as cream it was recommend to use skim or Protein powder like the vanilla kind

I'd just say follow your doctors rules or talk to your nutritionist and ask about creamer. Good luck and I hope you find your happy medium :)

  2. I have found that there is no Protein power that I REALLY like. So I have taken to covering up the flavor with other stuff. coffee works wonderfull!!

    my favorite is :

    1oz sf caramel Syrup

    1oz sf vanilla syrup

    3oz almond milk

3 oz favorite coffee (mine is keurig butter toffee)

    1 scoop vanilla Protein

    Blenderize with lots of ice.

comes out to about: 130 cal/5carbs/16 protein

Gonna write this down. I have powder and I don't know what to do with it. Thanks for sharing this :)

  3. I'm sorry if you didn't find my 'feedback' helpful' date=' but one of the first questions I asked the surgeon, was about any ongoing fees, regarding to fills, and if I needed some sort of additional surgery.[/quote']

It's ok. You're right. I should've asked but the truth is I was excited and nervous and focused on doing everything right that FILLS didn't cross my mind much. Once i read a post on here a month or so ago, I realized I better ask about this. So I asked. My insurance covered everything, I just never knew how many fills. I know about everything else including cosmetic surgery they wil cover, but those fills slipped my mind.

  4. Thank you all for the feedback, I needed to vent and it's nice to know I wasn't overlooked :)

I did ask and it's within 12 months and it doesn't reset. $250 after. I was like yikes!! Lol but I trust my surgeon and he's great with communicating with his patients. He seem to really care. I think I was more shocked than anything.

  6. Did you not ask questions about the associated fees after surgery?

No I didn't. I was so focused on doing things right and getting the approval that I didn't really ask. Once I read about others and their fills, I asked and now I know.

But thanks for your "feedback" it was so helpful that I can hardly contain myself :)

I'm almost sure that question was rhetorical but hey I thought I'd answer it anyway for ya

    Blessings :)

  7. I'm scheduled for my first fill on June 27th. Surgery was May 15th. I'm kind of concerned because I just found out my insurance only covers 6 adjustments, after that it's $250 per adjustment.

All I can think is, what if I don't get restriction between the 6 visits? What if I need an unfill and have to us one of my adjustment visits? I'm just concerned and praying that my fills will go smoothly and that I reach my "green zone" within those visits.

  8. Hi all' date=' I was banded May 16th... I've been losing consistantly all month, started on the liquid pre op diet May 1st... I have started increasing exercise this week, walking 1- 1/2 miles daily now.. I had a lot of problems with pain and gas post op, but its getting much better now.. how are the ones doing from the beginning of may?[/quote']

I was banded the 15th of May. I'm doing pretty well. My gas was the worst between days 1-3.

Way to go on the walking and getting that exercise in. Hope you have continued success.

  9. So I had my first visit to the doc since surgery. I am 10 days post op and was concerned at the HORRIBLE gas I'm having' date=' so much so that I have sharp stabbing pains in my side and neck especially whe I lay down. So on my visit they are asking me a bunch of questions and come to find out the directions for how to drink were printed wrong in my nutrition book! So I had just progressed too fast to drinking too much at one sitting, which actually contributed to my own gas issues. Wow! So here is my question, how long does it take everyone to drink say a cup of liquid? I have to return to sipping an ounce every 15 minutes which means drinking all day![/quote']

I sip on a 16.9oz bottle of Water for hours. I've only gotten in close to two of those bottles in a day but I also sip on zero calorie Vitamin water some days plus 2 Protein Shakes.

Hope you feel better very soon. Happy healing to you :)

  10. my Doctor said its okay for me to have at the soft foods stage. I shred it up and put an Italian dressing on it. Have had no problems getting it down.

Do as your doctor tells you. Everyone is told different things. As long as you are following their rules and not having any problems getting it down then you're ok. Good luck, hope things get better for you

  11. I am down another 6 pounds and I am still swollen' date=' total 42 pounds now. I'm not going to get discouraged when that goes up after returning to solid food and getting more calories. I figured I had to lose this week, I have had very little to "eat". Good luck on your visit.[/quote']

That's great. Congratulations on your pounds lost.

  12. I too am a patient of Dr. Elli. My surgery date is 7/10 at UIC. The last two weeks I've really been trying to stay strict with the exercise. I guess it has become somewhat of a routine now... now if only I can stop the empty calories. I wish the junk didn't taste so darn good!

Welcome! Congratulations on taking the steps to begin your new journey.

The most important thing that I've learned it don't stress to much about exercise. As far as the empty calories don't beat yourself up. This is a learning process, just keep at it. Soon it will become a healthy habit. You'll begin to make healthy choices without too much thought. Take it easy on yourself. Get at least 30 minutes of exercise in per day and work your way up. Eat right and those empty calories you'll burn off in your exercise.

Wishing you the very best :) and remember don't push yourself too hard or you won't stick with it.

  13. My husband, mom, closest aunt who raised me as her own and 2 friends know. That's all that I've told. NOW my DH has debated with me on this saying I should share it with close people and he doesn't understand why I've chosen not to.

I'm my opinion, I don't want to hear the negative opinions. He says he's proud to be the husband of someone who made this huge step. He has joined me in weightloss and has lost 41lbs in two months.

Overall, it's a personal choice. It's everyone's right to tell or not to tell.
