  1. Not sure if anyone else has noticed but since losing 29lbs I don't find that the excercise is as hard as it was before the weight loss I was on the treadmill and usually after 1/2 hour my heart rate would go over 200 and I would need to stop now it is steady at 140 yippee!!!

Thats awesome! Keep up the good work :)

  2. I havent started anything. I have my kids all day everyday and its difficult to get a regimen going, but I try to incorporate things that we can do together like dancing or chasing each other around the house. Little things like that. Oh and go for walks. Thats all I can do right now. I have Zumba on Xbox Kinect and The Biggest Loser on Kinect, when I have the time, I try to do that but my kids always wants to be involved and if you have a Kinect you know how sensitive the sensor is, theres no way I could ever make it :D

But my oldest daughter will be starting pre school in August so I'll have more time (hopefully) to workout. My little one sleeps for hours during nap time :)

I need to do something thats for sure

  3. I am so proud of you Debbie. Your clothes must be falling off of you! lol.

Sleepyone, wish you the best at your doctors appointment. :)

I am excited because yesterday I went to the Gap and bought a few XL tshirts. They fit just right. I haven't shopped in a regular store in years.

an XL, you go girl!! congrats

  4. Hello every one! Before surgery I had told my husband that I wanted to weigh, measure and take a picture as close to the 2nd of each month, since that is the day I was banded. Well I weighed, measured and failed to get the picture taken. But I have not lost any weight in a few weeks now but I have not gained either. But I'm excited the most about the measurements. So are you ready to hear what there are? I lost 2 1/2 inches in my breast ( I'm hoping that is more from the fat on my back or under my arms than my breast please!) I lost 1 inch from my waist and 3 inches from my hips. I'm so glad I decided to measure. The scale might have stopped showing the lbs coming off but the measuring tape picked up where it left off for me.

So are you excited about some thing and would like to share it! Please tell us, we would love to hear what it is!

    Congrats! thats wonderful!

I have had a few NSVs. My bras are too big, I need a belt to keep all my Ashley Stewart jeans up. I have more room while I drive between me and the steering wheel.

Im excited to see what size I wear (was wearing a 24) and to see how much more weight I have lost since surgery :)

    Im so happy for everyone.

  5. I didn't read that' date=' but I would question whether the esophageal cancer was caused by the band itself or by acid reflux as a complication from the band. I know that in rare cases acid reflux can lead to Barrett's syndrome or disease or something, and that can lead to esophageal cancer.

I had serious acid reflux for YEARS before my surgery. I finally broke down and had an endoscopy and fortunately got a clean bill of health, and was given a very expensive prescription medication that worked beautifully. Shortly after that, though, I decided to get the band. The first medication I was able to get rid of was my acid reflux med!!![/quote']

That's great Toddy! Glad you got rid of that acid reflux med :)

Yes it was associated with acid reflux caused by the band. The thread was titled "my band gave me esophageal cancer". Like I said, it was earlier this morning when I saw it and it just so happen to be at the top of the feed. But I immediately went to the success story thread. Which is where I should've been to begin with.

  6. Okay' date=' I just surfed around on the complications page... didn't run across any deaths, fortunately. The message I came away with is listen to your body!! One person was posting that she couldn't eat, couldn't drink and she was thirsty ... DUH, WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON A MESSAGE BOARD? YOU NEED TO BE AT THE HOSPITAL SO YOU DON'T GET DEHYDRATED!!!

Just use common sense. After surgery my doctor sent me home with instructions to call with ANY concerns, even if we didn't think it was anything serious.[/quote']

I was in there earlier. I came across the one about esophageal(spelling... Yikes!) cancer and erosion amongst other terrible things. I shouldn't have read it. Cancer has attacked over half of my family. That words scares me and I just had to read how can a band lead to cancer.

    It was a bad idea.

  7. Thank you all for understanding and not judging me for feeling the way I do. It's nice to be in a supportive forum with such wonderful ppl.

I'm usually a very positive person and I'm so grateful to have lost the weight that I have before I was banded. I messed up, I shouldn't have gone over there. I knew all the risks of having the surgery and I took the gamble. At this point I'm just praying it pays off.

I agree, I should just stay away from that thread and I'm going to do that.

Thanks for allowing me to vent. I really appreciate it :)

  8. Don't scare yourself!! There's dangers to anything in life. You got the surgery for the right reasons - because you want to be around in the future for your kids. Think about what Morbid Obesity is...from the Rochester University website:

"Morbid obesity is a serious health condition that can interfere with basic physical functions such as breathing or walking. Those who are morbidly obese are at greater risk for illnesses including diabetes' date=' high blood pressure, sleep apnea, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), gallstones, osteoarthritis, heart disease, and cancer."

Now, those side effects of living life at 300 lbs sound very scary to me! Most of them lead to death, all of them are life-changers.

Be positive. You really can be successful at this. It's a mindset and a lifestyle. It's always good to be aware of complications so we know what to look for, but just follow the plan and you should be peachy keen :)[/quote']

Very true. They are dangers all around and the side effects of morbid obesity scares me too. That's another reason I got the surgery, to lower my risk.

Thanks for the encouraging words :)
