Are you taking anything for heartburn? I was getting similar issues and my doctor prescribed me something for heartburn and it fixed it.

I Don't Regret The Sleeve Surgery, But....
Willow216 replied to Willow216's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have never seen bison and I have shopped in every borough, if NYC has it, it must be in a real up-scale supermarket for the rich people . I was told I could order bison on-line through specialty meat deliveries. Maybe one day. -

It's amazing what you can get through the internet! Though I don't think I would try and order milk. LOL Skim Plus is a real good milk, same calories and as skim milk but taste way better and 9 gram of protein per 8oz. -

Mootopia sounds great and I will try to look for it in my supermarket, as for the bison I don't think we get that in NYC. LOL And I don't think I have the heart to eat a Rabbit . I've had Venison before and loved it, but we don't get that here either. I'm going to start trying Tofu, I have many recipes and Tofu has a lot of Protein and seems easier to digest, I don't know yet 'cause I haven't tried it yet, but I'm willing to try anything at this point. Thank you Pookeyism! -

Good Idea, I have an old crock pot that needs to be put to work anyway and soup sounds good.. I tried Turkey Chili but it laid in my stomach like a boulder. Maybe in a few months, I have to realize my stomach isn't what it was and my mind needs to start getting with the new program ! LOL Thanks Alot!! -

Belly Button Pain?
Willow216 replied to Sleevorama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you been lifting anything heavy? The belly button is the main surgical spot so if you have been lifting anything heavy you might have strained it, I had the same problem but after about a month after surgery I was lifting things I wasn't supposed to over 10lbs. -
How Did You Choose Your Screen Name?
Willow216 replied to Pookeyism's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Willow was my favorite character in a movie by the same name "Willow" in the 80's starring Val Kilmer, I also loved the name so I use it for my e-mail and any screen name I need I even named my basset hound Willow I guess the name just stuck with me. I would've named my daughter Willow but her father wasn't haven't it. -

I was off meds (percocet) within 5 days, wasn't really in pain just very sore and unconfortable in my surgery spots where they made incisions for about 3-4 days after that I was good. No pain in my stomach at all suprisingly. If you are still feeling pain then you need the meds. Good Luck and Take Care!

I Don't Regret The Sleeve Surgery, But....
Willow216 replied to Willow216's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am following the most nutritious foods first, but eggs were the only foods that were working for me, the potatoes was advisement from my doctor/dietician, made with skim plus milk (this skim milk taste so much better than skim milk with no extra calories and 9grms of protein per 8 oz) my dietician told me if food was giving me a problem to keep with the shakes and try and eat a lil of runny mashed potatoes or mashed turnip (two tablespoons not a whole bowl) the turnips actually worked pretty well and are very good for you. I was doing shakes religously but after 6 wks I just couldn't do it anymore so that is why I needed to break from them for awhile. Thanks for your input! -

Willow216 replied to Willow216's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for your comment I'm going to try to get back on my liquids (shakes) and just try a few new tricks to make them better. I was doing imitation crab and crab sticks (took off the breading though). I love crab sticks prior to surgery and is one of the foods I kept but only a bit and shredded cause unfortunately they give me a little rock feeling in my stomach too, I can't figure out why since they are so soft. Thanks again!! -

Willow216 replied to Willow216's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you Sooo Much, Your words helped and made me feel a lot better! I was told by another sleever to try the Protein powder along with a Carnation instant breakfast drink or a Nutramint and add Skim Plus Milk (which is very good for skim milk) to put in a change of flavor and add to the protein grams. They may have a few sugar grams but she has had no problems and reportedly losing weight very well. She was having problems with the food issue like I was and started improvising, I may start that next week. -

I was told by my dietician I could eat mashed foods like potatoes, turnip, etc (in fact I was giving mashed potatoes in the hospital after my surgery, though I did not eat them) along with whatever protein I'm not talking a bowl full but maybe two tablespoons, I have been seeing on this forum that different specialist are giving different recommendations to patients who have been sleeved. Like I said most foods, except for eggs, were really bothering my stomach with a rock like feeling. I was doing the Protein Shakes for a while but at this time 'cause I'm just sick of them and I have tried many brands of protein shakes but once I am tired of something I have to leave it alone for awhile, I'll probably start back by next week. Thanks for your input. -

I was sleeved on 3/14/12, I had no problem with the anesthesia as far as I know, one moment I was talking to a nurse the next moment I was waking up in the recovery room. So if anything did happen I was knocked out and had no idea..LOL

I would think that the gastric bypass is way more invasive than the sleeve, I was sleeved on 3/14/12 and after the first couple of days of rest after surgery I was basically my old self and able to get around just fine with barely any discomfort, with the bypass I think it is way more painfulI and a lot more bed rest. I have lost about 26lbs so far losing 15 the first 2 wks and between 2 and 3 lbs a week now. Maybe the bypass makes you lose faster but I don't think all the side-effects are worth it when eventually you get to your goal any way. I only say this cause I hate pain and discomfort. The Best of Luck to you on your surgery!!

Awesome! I am relieved to hear that, I lost 17lbs the first two weeks (surgery 3/14), then a pound here and a pound there, I couldn't believe it since I am eating about 12 oz of food everyday (broken into 3 meals). Your information calmed me down alot! Thanx!

I was going for the Lap Band to when on my first appt the nurse told me that the Sleeve was much safer and hardly no complications as with the Lap Band, they tend to slip and cause problems, the nurse herself gotten the Sleeve and since she was about the same size as me she recommended that I do the Sleeve and save a lot of heartaches, plus she lost about 100lbs in 6 months. I am 3 weeks post Sleeve and lost 22lb already and no issues or complications. I'm Very Happy with my choice. Best of Luck to You Amy!!
