  1. Best Wishes to you and your journey, I don't think you should have a problem making your goal by your birthday. Take it easy on your liquid diet, that was the worst for me even the surgery wasn't as bad as liquid diet and I only had to do that for 3 days. Hope you give us updates after surgery. Good Luck to you!

    Dr. Alvarez

You can try Youtube, I have found a lot of people that Dr. Alvarez did their surgeries and they all seem to rave about this doctor and the care they got from his facility. Look up VSG/Dr. Alavarez and you should be able to find a bunch of people and their testimonies. Best of Luck to You!

    Smaller Shoe Size?

In the past I have been able to fit in shoes that were too tight for me after losing weight. I'm hoping to do that again, I also have alot of cute sandals and shoes that I would love to get back into.

    Onederland!

I'm Jealous! But very happy for you! I still have over 10lbs to go to get to Onederland! I'll see you around the bend. LOL
  6. Don't worry about portion control after surgery, you won't be able to keep down more than a few ounces at a time and alot of the foods you were use to you might not be able to tolerate anymore and after a while you won't have any urges for the bad stuff. The only thing I still have once in a while is a piece of chocolate like a hersheys kiss a couple times of week which is a HUGE difference than how I was prior to surgery. I had this surgery so I wouldn't have to give up to much but I just won't over-eat like before, but now I see I don't want alot of the old crappy food anymore. You'll see!
  7. I drink my shake all during the mid day (lunch) or somtimes dinner, I have been sleeved since 3/14 and eating has become somewhat of a chore, some foods go down well and some still feel like stones in my sleeve, the shake has become my easy go-to that I have no problems with I also have lost taste for a lot of food that I used to think I could not go without, so eating is not too much fun anymore (I have no complaints on that,,LOL). I drink the Isopure dutch chocolate, order it online from supplement warehouse, it taste the best to me and has 25 grms of protein per scoop, so since I need at least 70 grams of protein per day, I take two scoops (50 grms) with two cups of Skim Plus milk that is 22 grams of protein and I have my full protein needs for the day without worrying if the food I am eating is giving me enough, I freeze it the night before so it stays real cold during the day. Once you have your surgery you will start developing your own way of doing things, being sleeved really changes things and you need to do it as it makes you feel comfortable. I am wishing you All The Best with your new Journey!
  8. No shame in my game.. If someone ask I will tell them maybe I can bring helpful information to someone else who needs it. Everyone has been supportive and really kool about it.
  9. I took 2 weeks from work, I had my surgery on a wednesday but I could have returned by the next Monday I felt great but I have a desk job so it would have been easier than if I had to be on my feet all day depending on what kind of work you do.
  10. I am a March Sleever and so far I can only eat about 4 to 5 oz at a time so I make sure it is protein and veggies first. I have no appetite for anything starchy (Breads, potatoes, rice, pasta, etc) cause it feels like rocks in my stomach and expands and hurts my sleeve. I am very happy on how my eating habits have changed and I barely needed to try.

    Craving Food

I went through the same thing the first couple of weeks after surgery, I was craving everything especially carbs, macaroni, potatoes etc, but after a couple weeks I started losing taste for the things I was craving, I haven't had any macaroni or bread since right before surgery, I would have a little mashed potatoe in the very beginning after surgery cause it was easy to eat but after a couple of times I don't eat that anymore, the only thing close to carbs I want now are mashed turnips or cauliflower (which I never ate prior to surgery). I really don't want any of the other stuff anymore. The only thing I still crave once in a while is chocolate which I will have a hershey kiss a couple times a week and I'm good. I don't even want to hear about soda anymore and I was a diet pepsi freak, all I want to drink is water now. This surgery has changed me alot! So I wouldn't worry about the cravings I'm sure they will go away after awhile.
  13. Monkey but Cream and Powder works wonders on my baby neice and nephew so I'm sure I'm positive it will help your "um" Sensitive areas. LOL
  14. LOL this story made my day! And told very delicately.. Not only the women have unexpected drawbacks to losing weight. I think after losing more than 100lbs the body starts to experience new changes and new type of issues that you have to get used to.

    The Mini Me :d

I did the same thing and actually eating with the baby spoons worked real well for me, helped me to remember what kind of bite was comfortable with my sleeve and mini bowls had lids so packing my luch and snack for work was easy.

    Can I Chew Gum?

Yup! You can chew gum, I chewed gum leaving the hospital. They told me I couldn't use a straw but since I use a straw with whatever I'm drinking, I used a straw anyway, no problems with that either. I'm such a rebel! LOL

3 Weeks Post-Op And Having Doubts

I went through the same thing a month after surgery, I realized how much I was a "mental eater", I couldn't eat like before but I was craving Everything you could think of, I felt like I was in detox or something. I thought after this surgery a lot of the cravings would go away, Nope! not for me! Now I am about 10wks out I am in a comfortable place now. I eat my Proteins first (including a Protein shake) but I eat the proteins I want, soft crab meat, eggs, fish, etc. I don't measure anything I just take the bites I can and I'm usually done after 3 to 4 bites anyway, but I do this every 3 to 3 1/2 hrs, I noted after the 4th week my weight loss slowed down because I wasn't eating enough calories to burn off my weight but now its going okay, I do sneak in a hershey kiss every once in a while I still crave chocolate but after one or two a day (depending on what time of the month it is) I'm good. What I used to crave I don't feel for anymore, I haven't eaten rice or breads since before the surgery, I have no taste for them anymore, I'm not a big starch eater like I was which I'm really glad for. Gotta have patience with this new life. After a while we all will get used to the new "Sleeved Life" and it won't be a problem anymore, its just the journey thats a little bumpy. God Bless MK we are all in this together!!!

When Will It Start To Improve?

Took me a while to obtain any kind of energy level. You got to give it a bit of time. The one thing you need with this kind of surgery is patience. I learned the hard way..LOL
  23. Hi Fellow Sleevers and Sleevers to Be! I pray all of you and yours are Happy, Healthy and Enjoying Life! To start with I am 8 weeks Post Op, I have lost 30lbs so far (Yay ) and I do wish I could done this sooner, but, I didn't know how much I was going to start hating to eat. LOL! I guess my brain has not caught up to my sleeve and I know my dietician states 4to 8 oz of food per meal but it seems that after 3 bites of food and right when I'm really enjoying what I'm eating I can't eat another bite or I start spitting up, I think I need to go back to the baby spoon .. (Yes, I know that was the whole point of having surgery) I just can't get in all the Protein in I am supposed to and the only protein I can digest with no issues are eggs which I am getting tired of, I am taking a break from the shakes for a while and any other food (even mashed potatoes) feels like rocks in my stomach. And my weight loss has went down to only about a pound a week now, I guess its either I am not getting enough calories or just the way I am losing it, thats okay I guess cause at least I lose something every week I just thought that I could lose at least 40 the first 3 months as I see others lose amazing amount of weight but I'm good with it. Please know I am not complaining I'm just venting a bit and wondering if anyone else is having any of these issues and if they did does it get better I don't want to eat alot I am just concerned that I can't eat enough to stay healthy. I will confess though I do eat two hershey kisses every day cause I am still a chocoholic, this surgery did not change that but me only eating one or two and being good with that is a miracle for me. God Bless you All! And Thanks for all your testimonies!

    Trouble Eating

Thats what the doc gave me prilosec but in generic form so my insurance would pay for it. I had no more issues other than the rumbling that I still get once in a while.
