Hi! I Am New To The Site...
Willow216 replied to Jodi Lynn DeLeonardo's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I used food to cope with issues also, but after the surgery that all changed, you will see. The first couple of weeks after surgery I did go thru kind of withdrawel because I was craving "Everything" even food I never ate prior to surgery, but I couldn't eat it 'cause my stomach would not allow it, after this period everything changed I lost taste for alot of food I thought I could never live without. Everyone is different but I hear that most people go thru the same progress. You will have your grieving but afterward its like "I don't even want it anymore" which is a great feeling! I was a Carb Monster prior to surgery, I never thought anything can stop me from eating rice or potatoes, breads etc. but I haven't had any of that since the surgery and have no taste for it. Its a Miracle for me. God Bless and Best Wishes! -
Different Dieticians say very different things. My dietician recommended Cream of Wheat for the first weeks after surgery (cooked w/Skim Plus Milk) because it is easy on the sleeve, my surgeon stated I can even have a small amounts of mashed potatoes, though that didnt' work for me, to heavy. I have not really kept to any serious food restrictions only what my sleeve allows me. Protein first which include oatmeal and cream of wheat prepared w/skim plus milk (skim plus has alot of protein), veggies second, sometimes I even have a taste of chocolate here and there, I don't do carb too much anymore because it is to heavy on my stomach. I can still only fit about 5 - 6 oz of food in my sleeve and I don't have patience to weigh food or watch calories, the reason why I got this sleeve is so I wouldn't have to do that anymore or deny myself something I want and I am losing just fine, after the first 4 wks I average a 2.5lbs lose per week which I am very happy with. So you can eat Cream of Wheat as long as you cook it with a skim milk or any low fat milk with protein (that is if you can drink milk, I know some of us here on the VSG can't do milk). God Bless.

I am so Sorry for your situation, to answer your question, no sweats at all during the first few weeks. It sounds like you may have an infection or still leaking, did they repair the leak? I understand your situation, but you need to at least consult with an attorney, the doctor should not have said that to you "the procedure was your choice, darlin" that is so condensending its ridiculous not to mention very un-professional! My prayers and thoughts are with you!

Amen! Your Absolutely Right!

I say "Hoorray" for all of us. We are more than what we weigh. The weight will go when it goes but we still have to Love ourselves in every stage of our life (or size) or what will this whole journey be worth. Be Blessed Everyone!

Thanks for the post, I also needed it! I basically lose about 2lbs a week since the first month of surgery which I was hoping for some big miraculous change in weight, I can't complain cause I get a little miracle every week. "I might not be where I want to be but at least I'm not where I was!"

Great News for your Wife! Oh to feel like a teenager again!

Looks interesting but I don't think it is better than the sleeve, it looks though the stomach can stretch out again. But I'm no doctor, I'm happy with what I got.

Post-Op Cravings And Discouraged!
Willow216 replied to melissamae99's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I went through terrible "food withdrawal" after the surgery, it was horrible! I have teenage kids who live with me and it was so bizarre that even the stuff my kids were eating that I never ate prior to surgery like chinese food, if they were eating it and I smelled it, wow I wanted it, though I never cared for that kinda food. It went away after a couple of weeks, but for that little while I knew what "detoxing" meant! Now I don't crave hardly anything anymore, except a piece of chocolate maybe every once in a while. But I haven't had any carbs in two months and don't want any. (I was a carb-a-holic prior to surgery). I worried to for a while but the forum helped me see that alot of us go through it. Don't worry it will go away. Blessings to you!! -

What Are You Eating At 8 Weeks
Willow216 replied to marimar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am almost 12 wks out and I can't eat the things I did before, I don't eat rice, potatoes, pasta it bothers my stomach and I have no taste for it. I eat maybe one slice of weight watchers whole wheat with an egg in the morning but that is as far as my carbs go, the rest of the day is my Isopure shake and Fish, Shrimp, Chicken Breast or turkey. Right now that is it. -

Amen to all of the comments here. I guess most people mean well but they don't understand how patronizing those "your not that big" comments are, to me they're the Anti-compliment. -

Were Any Of Your Family/friends Against You Getting Sleeved?
Willow216 replied to thehappycat's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
These stories are heartbreaking! When your own family or close friends can't understand or support you. Regardless of how they feel about it they should support you anyway on your decision. My family wasn't so thrilled either but they stood by me and have seen my changes (mentally as well as physically) I have dieted for two decades and went up and down in weight till I hit my 30's then it was a slow downhil till 250lbs I still dieted and tried everything, this was the only thing that actually helped and made me feel like I didn't have to always be worried about what I ate and how I ate. I finally feel Free and in control of my life and regardless of how I got here I'm happy. I so wish I could have done this in my 20's my life would've have been so much different. Hooray for all of you!!! Enjoy your Life, you only live it Once!! Hugz to you all I support you!... -

Protein Mixed With Water Or Milk
Willow216 replied to sillygirlmi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dietician told me to mix my protein shakes up with Skim Plus milk, it has no fat like skim milk but taste way more creamier and it has 11 grams of protein per cup so in a shaker I do two cups (22 grams protein) plus two scoops of Dutch Chocolate Isopure which is 50 Grams protein and altogether I got my 72 grams of protein for the day. It taste great with a little sugar free vanilla flavoring.
