    Using A Straw?

My dietician warned me about using straws after surgery, problem is I ALWAYS use straws, I have a perpetual hole in my lip and I drip on my shirt no matter what I'm drinking so I used the straws anyway and I have not had a problem at all. If your comfortable with it. I say Use a Straw. LOL

    Good Scales?

I have the scale " EatSmart Precision Digital Scale" mentioned by "Bufflefhead" and she is right its a great scale and not too pricey and I also got it from Amazon (I get everything from Amazon LOL) The scale is precise, my weight loss surgeon scale notes the same poundage every time as this scale so I know its on point. Good Luck!

    Ive Been Sleeved!

Yay!! Congrats and I'm glad you got through it with no issues. Welcome to the first day of the rest of your Skinny Life!!
  9. I thought about the same thing, "how will I be able to give up....etc" and to be honest after a couple of weeks post-op, my tastes have changed dramatically and I don't want alot of what I used to eat. To me that is amazing, cause I thought that could not happen, but when your sleeved a certain hormone is removed and takes away certain food cravings, I don't crave carbs anymore and I was the carb Queen! I still like chocolate here and there but I don't want the junk like I used to. Besides with this surgery you can still eat what you want you just won't eat alot of it and be satisfied with a couple of bites instead of the whole thing. I'm sure you'll be fine.. PS: My father died of obesity in 2001 he was 5ft 4inches and almost 500lbs. He suffered alot with his weight especially with his breathing, he had sleep apnea and stopped breathing while sleeping, he was only 55yrs old. He loved food way to much and didn't care what it was doing to him.

    Husbands

Wow, thats deep. I can relate in one way, I don't cook too much anymore my kidz (who are grown) do that I might cook on the weekends but only sometimes. If I can't eat it I don't see why I gotta cook. I wish I can say something positive about the rest but I don't have a husband anymore and I like my freedom, well at least until "The Almighty" brings me someone I can tolerate, (I have no patience)....LOL I wish you All The Best with your relationship!

    22 Weeks Post Op

Stretched, Nah! I don't think your stomach stretched, just healed, in the beginning its still swollen from surgery and it takes a few weeks to really heal and eating is a bit difficult, this is what my surgeon stated when I asked the same question, its very difficult to stretch this sleeve my surgeon stated it can happen but it takes a long period of time of overeating to do that. I am having the same issues now, in the beginning I was eating out of a baby dish and I couldn't finish my morning hot Cereal after 3 or 4 bites, now I can do an easy 8 bites before I need to stop. This is my 17th week post surgery and I have lost 49lbs to date, I have been losing 2lbs a week since after the first 3 to 4 weeks, no stalls yet (crossing fingers and knocking on wood) but I can't seem to lose more than that a week but I'm happy with at least I am so far consistant and losing slowly is better than no losing at all. I get a "lil green" envy going on when I hear that people lost huge amounts of weight in a short time span but I get over it, we are all different and we all will get to our goals eventually, we didn't get heavy overnite, though it did seeem like it did. I don't count calories, I wish I did but I'm not that discipline, I try and walk 2-3 miles a day at least 5x pr week, but still only 2lbs a week. Its funny, I skipped a week from walking 'cause I was on vacation and I still only lost 2lbs that week...LOL

Why Can't You Just Be Happy For Me?

You know what they say about "Misery" she sure does love company. I'm sure once your weight starts falling off and they see how well you are doing maybe you will inspire them to do something about their weight. Anyway do whats good for you and don't worry 'bout who is bothered by it, people will always talk, its when they stop talking that gets me nervous..LOL

    My Boyfriend Left Me

No offense, And I don't mean any disrespect but what does this have to do with anything? Sure there are different sides to whatever story but she's hurting and sometimes a person needs to vent a little to try and feel better and this forum is made for us to kinda stick together and be there for each other when your feeling low. As for OP he states that this guy should be commended on being dad to a boy for 6 years. As far as I see he abandoned this boy by up and leaving without a word. Yeah, he should run for Step-daddy of the year?!
  14. I'm from the Bronx also. I did live in Brentwood L.I. as a teen for a lil while. My insurance didn't have a 6 month wait with United HealthCare. Once I got all of my testing and Psych done I had my surgery It took about 3 months.

    My Boyfriend Left Me

I'm really sorry to hear this! The only comment I can leave it "What Comes Around, Goes Around" thats a fact. He doesn't sound like much of a "Prince Charming" to me to leave you and your son like that after 6 years. He doesn't deserve you texting or calling him. Grieve if you must then get on with living for you and your son, there is someone special out there for everyone and you will find it if you pick yourself back up and shake the other dude off and get on with living, this guy probably did you a favor. Soon you will have a new body, new confidence, new self esteem, and most likely a new love! God Bless!

    Night Hunger?!?

The second week after surgery I went through somewhat of a "detox" situation. I was craving everything, even stuff I didn't eat prior to surgery, especially at night, it lasted about 2 weeks and I don't have it anymore, I still feel like I want to much at night, I was always a night time eater, but not nearly as bad as the beginning after surgery. I'm sure It will pass.
  17. Isn't that Awesome! I had the same thing happen but unfortunately, for a lil while, a couple of people thought I had a drug problem due to my increasing weightloss, rumors started when it got back to me I almost fell over laughing. I'm the person who hates taking tylenol unless its absolutely necessary. LOL

Why Am I Not Losing Weight?

I had the same issue I only lost 8lbs the first week then 6 the next then 2lbs per week since then. I was grumpy in the beginning 'cause I thought I would lose more the first 2-3 weeks but someone on this site stated that the higher your BMI (weight) the faster the weight comes off until you get down to around 40 BMI then it slows down to a pace. I started at a 43 BMI. I think your doing Fabulous!
  19. I stuck with the Centrum chewables because they absorb faster than taking a big multi-vitamin and I feel the effects alot quicker I also take liquid B12 and Caltrate w/Vitamin D. At 3 wks post op your sleeve might not be ready for the big non-chewables. My doctor stated I could after 4 wks.

    The Benefits Of Walking

Thank you for the information! Walking is the only excercise right now that I do on a regular, I walk 3 miles 5-6 days weekly and I don't get bored with it. I get very easily tired of Gyms and things like Zumba or Step excercising hurts my knees not to mention I have no balance whatsoever. Walking has helped my weightloss immensely! Once I get to my goal weight I will try other things to help me firm up but until then walking has been my best go to excercise and the best part...It's Free!

    Muscle Milk

I didn't like Muscle Milk I thought it tasted "gross", I tried it thinking I didn't have to mix it and was just being lazy but "ick" couldn't stomach it. I use the Isopure Dutch chocolate w/Skim Plus Milk and I have it with Torani sugar free rasberry syrup which makes it taste extra good all in all very low in sugar, sugar adds to weight gain. Best Wishes!!
  23. I had no shame in my game, I told who I needed to tell, Most of them were Super supportive while some of my family were like "isn't that taking the easy way out", and others (co-workers etc) I let them think I am on a miracle diet, they didn't know my struggles with my weight and how much I really tried for "years". So I did what was best for me and my life and for my family and the only regret is I didn't do this sooner! Think what "You" need and what is best for "You". Besides you don't have to tell everyone, let them think you found the "Fountain of UnFattiness" and make them wonder how your losing all that weight. Best Wishes for you!!

    2 Days Post Op

Post op I would just sip Ice Water every few minutes, water usually goes right through the sleeve because of its shape and since you cannot take gulps you probably won't feel full so you can sip probably all day but not when you start eating, the food will restrict your liquid intake. I was able to eat right out of the hospital but only two small bites at a time, but I was able to sip on water all day. Best Wishes!!

    3 Month Surgiversary!

When I stalled I would just up the calories from around 800 to 950 every other day (eating cheese or extra yogurt) and it has been working, I had only one stall for about week and a half and haven't had one is 6 weeks. I am 3months out and lost 47lbs, I feel better knowing that other people are losing like I am, When I first got on this site I was hearing 60lbs and more lost the first 3 months and I was thinking I wasn't doing well. Thanks you guys!
