Anyone Getting Banded In September?
MummyMeagan replied to millsy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear on here a lot of people doing the liquid diets and my Dr. Hasn't said anything about me having to to a liquid diet at all. Is this normal or just a preference thing that varies from Dr. To Dr. ? -
Anyone Getting Banded In September?
MummyMeagan replied to millsy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Getting so nervous and its still 3 days until surgery day for me. I keep thinking about how I'm going to allow my self to heal properly with two small children both under the age of 4. I also worry about being one one of those people who have their lap band horror story. Already having trouble sleeping being so anxious with what to expect. Guess I just gotta hold my breath and take the ride! -

Throat Feeling A Little Sore 8 Days Pre Op
MummyMeagan posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone in my house is sick my husband and 2 children and I've been taking vitamin c and drinking green tea my throat has a little bit of soreness to it but I am not full blown sick. I don't have any ideas where to go with this because I could still get full blown sick and at the same time this could just go away. Any suggestions would be helpful! -

Good luck ! Hope all gos smooth and I know its nerve racking to go for any kind of surgery and there isnt much that will calm you down until youv woke up and realize everything went as planned. Just try to keep your self doing things to keep your mind off of it, read books, magazines, talk to friends, plan ahead styles and looks you will be able to ware that you'v always liked and couldnt wear because they dont make them in our sizes !

I was wondering of others expierance with their husbands/signifigant others? Good, bad anything. Were there any that actions pre op were kind of out of the normal ? My husband had made a comment to me last night that he has never said before to me and it was negative towards my size. I was just wondering if anyone had expieranced this before. I was very hurt by the comment but then started to wonder if this wasnt something with a under lieing issue.

Lap Band Surgery, Infection & Port Removal
MummyMeagan replied to BamaGirl36303's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hope everything goes well with your drs apt and they everything is smooth sailing from here. Just be cautious when you use the shower at home or even in hospitals I try to touch the walls and curtians as least as possiable because thats what causes staff infections. Also at home after both of my csections I went and purchased new shower curtians and sprayed down all the walls after each shower. I might of been a little over kill but I was so afraid of getting an infection. I also would let my scares air out like after each shower lay with the fan on and no clothes untill I was pretty dry.Hope all gos well ! -

I was wondering what that would cost me because I am pretty sure my insurance isnt going to cover that. I can imagine that some men are with us like stated before because they know we are chubby and the chances of us leaving before were unlikely. I dont have self esteem issues like that tho I have an awesome personality and alot of men Iv dated before didnt even see my chubbieness. Well maybe he will adjust to it and quit giving you trouble about it. I know it will take time for my self to adjust to the new me let alone everyone around me. Im sure I will have people who are jealous of my sucess but Im not doing it for them Im doing it for myself and my children. -

Thats so amazing ! I think it would be easy to get my husband on board along with me because he used to diet every strictly. He has gained some weight since the kids along with me and I know he is concious about his belly. I am excited for everything to start rolling along. I have my first 6 month pre op visit next Thursday. -

You girls are both very beautiful I could see why they would start to worry. Maybe thats whats the matter with my husband he knows Im a pretty girl and once the lbs melt off everyone will see it even the jerks who didnt before. I would never leave my husband only if he kept me back from things that I wanted to do that I know are good for me. I am pretty sure he supports me in the journey he just got a bug up his ars when he said what he did. Im going for it full steam ahead. Im excited and you all are so awesome for replying to this post. It helps to know there are other people out there going through this process and at all diffrent stages. Keep up the awesome work it takes alot of courage! -
Hello, I am a 29 year old mother of two, I currently have not had any weight loss procedure. I was looking into first the gastric sleeve. I had spoke with a friend of mine who I did not know had weight loss surgery and she ended up revealing to me that she had the band. After talking to her I am seirously rethinking my first choice and am wanting the band instead. I have my first appointment on the 22nd to srtart my 6 months pre op. Is there any information that anyone could give me that you can think you wish that you had known before the surgery, or any opnions on if I should sleeve or band ? I am currently 283 lbs and I am 5'4' I have alot of weight I want to loose I would love to get down to 150lbs.

Gastric Sleeve Vs Lap Band
MummyMeagan replied to MummyMeagan's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I know it wont be easy, I am not looking for the easy way out I honestly think that it would be the easy way out to try to diet and lose the weight vs this but I know my self that I want something that is permenet and going to change my life. With diet you know you can always revert back to your old ways with no consequences other then gaining the weight back. With this you have to watch it, it makes you concious of how much you were over eating before and you can become very sick from over eating. I think it takes a brave person to take this step. I was asahmed to admit for a while that I actully needed this surgery. I thought it was a cop out and that everyone should be able to diet and lose it the hard way. I realised after years of dieting and ups and downs that I kept getting larger and larger now I am at the heaviest I have ever been. I have two small children and I want to be healthy not only for my self but for them. I dont want them remembering thier mom as the mommy who sat around and kept them inside because it hurts to much for me to move. Congrats to you for being so brave and taking that step it really takes alot and I dont doubt for a min that I wont have days where its rough. I will always remeber my 29 years of weight that I have had to cary around and my arthritus in my knees and the gestational diabeties. Its totally worth the hard work to me. I hope over time things get better for you and you get into the groove of things it will take a while I am sure.
