African American Sleevers & Hair Loss
GivingItMyAll replied to Almostthere34's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Zeta, I had a c-section with no pain or I'll effects. No pain meds beyond the hospital. Up and taking care of my daughter once my legs regained feeling. Everyone is different, so don't let a few bad experiences scare you off if you really want a baby. Sent from my iPad using VST -

Can't Stomach The Bariatric Advantage Chewable Vitamins
GivingItMyAll replied to Erin6573's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My NUT said no to the gummies because they don't have all the Vitamins needed. She recommends the bariatric chewables (which are okay for me) but also said Centrum or flintstones chewables are better than the gummies. I was kinda bummed because I did the gummies pre-op and liked them. Sent from my iPad using VST -

Sleeved On The 27Th, And I Feel Strangely Good!
GivingItMyAll replied to sooner boomer's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Me either. I had planned on having my niece come over to help me with laundry, expecting that it would be difficult for me. But last night I did 3 loads with no problems. I just put the clothes in the basket and put the basket on the scale to make sure it wasn't over 10 pounds. I want to vacuum my floors, but I know that my vacuum is over 10 pounds, so I'll wait for Dh to help with that. Sent from my iPad using VST -
Have you tried adding unflavored Protein powder to your Soups? You can also add protein to Jello if your making it. I tried a recipe from eggface that used Greek yogurt, Protein Powder, pudding powder and ice. It was really good. Sent from my iPad using VST

I'm 4 days out and feeling really good. I sleep on my side or my back. On my side I start with holding a small pillow, but let it go once I'm settled. I walk for a minimum of an hour a day. I started out doing 10 minutes at a time and worked my way up to 30 minutes at a time. It's really hot here, too, so I go out early in the morning while it's still a little cool and as the sun is setting (again cooler). I'm getting in a minimum of 64 oz of liquids a day and 60-70g of Protein using shakes and powders in my Soups. I was pretty active before surgery, so I'm not sure if that had anything to do with how quickly I seemed to have bounced back. Sent from my iPad using VST

Sleeved On The 27Th, And I Feel Strangely Good!
GivingItMyAll replied to sooner boomer's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was also sleeved on the 27th. I took pain meds the first day in the hospital and refused them the second day. I did have to take a dose when I got home due to the extra bumpy ride home. OUCH! I have been feeling pretty good since I came home. Yesterday (day 3) I got in 64 oz of liquids and 65g of protein. I have steri-strips. The bruises are from the hephron (sp) shots that they gave you in the abdomin to reduce the chance of blood clots. I am most surprised that I have felt no hunger since surgery. I'm not complaining, I actually enjoy not feeling hungry. I am also able to open snacks and make food for my daughter without thinking twice about wanting any of it. Loving my sleeve!!! Cover You Incision/drain Hole?
GivingItMyAll replied to skane10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No drain here, but I think I'd be weirded out by an open hole too. -
Your thoughts and fears and nervousness are very normal. I am 3 days out and was nervous up until I went under the anesthesia. I lost 19 pounds pre-op (some even before my official pre-op diet started). I've always known that I can lose weight on my own. But I could never keep it off. This surgery is the tool that will help me be successful in keeping the weight off. That's the realization that helped me go through with the surgery. I'm 3 days out and feeling great! You can do this. Keep leaning on the members of this board for support. This was my lifeline leading up to surgery, as many people in my day to day life just didn't get it. Best of luck to you along your life changing journey.

Any Last Minute Advice?
GivingItMyAll replied to coffeelover77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm three days out, so fairly new. My advice would be to walk as soon as you are able to be up and about, even when you don't feel like it. That is what I believe has helped me with recovery the most. The meds don't get rid of the gas, they mask the pain and you will still have to walk the gas out. Don't get me wrong, ask for pain meds if you need them, but still walk to relive the gas if you don't feel the gas pains/pressure. Also, if you are nauseous, ask for meds. Don't suffer unnecessarily with nausea. Good luck to you. I'm saving your spot on the losers bench. -

Nausea And Vomiting
GivingItMyAll replied to praldous's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can the doc give you something for the nausea? I was nauseous in the hospital and they gave me meds that helped it immediately. My nausea was directly related to the pain meds, so as soon as I stopped them, the nausea stopped as well. Sent from my iPad using VST -
