Lee I took you advice on the brand and got a Life Fitness machine...I absolutely love it! Thanks for the recommendation!

Thanks for the responses...my ortho has advised me to only use an elliptical style machine for cardio...he is trying to postpone knee replacement as long as possible. I can't do any weightlifting for another 6-8 weeks per my lap band doctor. I am still recovering from surgery. I had two incidents of my port causing severe pain after weight training and they have recently moved it to the opposite side of my abdomen because of excess scar tissue. The surgeon wants to make sure it heals completely before I start weight training. I am following orders by doing the elliptical and various cardio dvd's. The closest gym is 45 minutes away and the classes are over when I get off work. I do appreciate the suggestions but I'm trying to do exactly what my ortho and lap band doctors have suggested. Hope everyone is having a great week!

I had surgery on Wednesday. The surgeon moved my port to my right side and down lower. The surgery was minor. I did end up having to be admitted but it was due to my blood pressure and pulse dropping extremely low. I would've gone back to work today if the dr had released me. I have 4 new incisions but very little pain. I haven't needed to take any pain medications since I was discharged yesterday. Please let me know if I can answer any other questions and good luck!

I have damaged my port area and need to have port revision. The surgeon will move it to my right side and down lower. This was discovered on my first visit with a new surgeon. There hasn't been time for them to go over what to expect after surgery...the nurse said he would go over everything tomorrow morning before the operation. I'm hoping someone reading this might have had this procedure. Do you go back on liquids then soft foods like after the initial lapband? How was your recovery time compared to the lapband placement? I know I need to discuss this with my dr and I will do that tomorrow morning, but I really want to get prepared if I need stuff to go back on full liquids. Thanks!

Oh my goodness! You look wonderful! -
I cook with deer several times each week. Last night I made deer chili. I haven't had any trouble but my band is not adjusted tight enough just yet. I'm hoping i don't have any problems when I hit the green zone. My dr told me in the beginning the texture could give me a problem, But so far so good. I cook it in the crock pot most of the time to keep it super moist. I would love to swap some recipes with you all.

Lol it's called Sweet Creations by Annette...it's pretty much anything you can dip in chocolate...cookie pops, strawberries, pretzels, etc. I do occasionally splurge and have a strawberry dipped in dark chocolate.

I am a benefit specialist at social services. I also own a chocolate business. Luckily the 1000's of cookie pops I made before getting banded made me sick of chocolate so it doesn't tempt me to cheat when I'm filling orders now???Š

Walking as much as possible and get a really good heating pad. Honestly that helped me more than anything. The majority of my pain was in my left shoulder and the pain meds didn't help that. I would wrap the heating pad around my shoulder and at night i slept on it. It made a world of difference! Good luck!!!

Walmart has 10,000 mcg of biotin...100 tablets for around $7.00. I take 1 each night and after about 2 weeks the hair loss stopped. The tablets are relatively small and easy to swallow.

Count me in...I started back walking yesterday, but I will catch up. My best friend meets me daily regardless of the temperature so she will keep me motivated. Thanks...this is just what I needed!

I'm in as well...this sounds fun!

Carb Cycling- An Experiment Gone Right!
AnnetteT replied to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am very interested in trying this. Everyone seems to be having great results. I've ordered the book but it won't be in for about a week. I would like to start tomorrow. Do any of you have any tips to get me started. I tried watching the videos on the website, but my Internet is so slow they wouldn't play. Can someone give me the basic amounts for high carb and low carb days please. I want to do some grocery shopping to get prepared this afternoon. Thanks! -
I was seeing Erin for my fills but she moved upstairs with the other doctors...I may have to follow. I love seeing her for my appointments. Dr Schroeder rushes me when he does the fill.

I live about an hour from Richmond. I had my surgery at St. Mary's so I am up that way for monthly appointments.

I was banded on march 1st. So far I've lost 95 pounds. I hadn't lost anything in the last 6 weeks, but I had another fill on Thursday and have started losing again. I think I may be in the green zone...FINALLY!

Not Feeling Full After Second Adjustment
AnnetteT replied to larthur's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After my first 3 fills I started getting worried that something was wrong. I could still eat whatever I wanted. I stopped at a cup, but i was never satisfied. I felt hungry all of the time. Then i had the magic fill...for me it was #4. Suddenly I was satisfied with about 1/2 cup of food and i would not think of food for hours. It's amazing the difference one fill makes. Hang in there. Practice measuring and chewing and eating what you're supposed to. Your magic fill will come too. It's been 3 weeks and after being at the same weight for 2 months, I've lost 10 more pounds. Keep the faith...it will come. Good Luck!!! -
How Do You Tell Someone That You're Dating That You Have A Lap Band?
AnnetteT replied to bluetigereyes's topic in Singles Forum
I struggled with this same thing. I stressed and worried about telling my bf until I made myself sick. I had been dating my current bf for a few months when questions starting coming up. He loves to cook big extravagant meals. I finally got up the nerve to tell him. He seemed a little upset and asked lots of questions at first, but guess what...he started researching the lap band online so that he could better understand what I was going through. He found some band friendly recipes to try and then started turning all of his recipes into band friendly meals. We've been together for a year now. He goes with me to my appointments and tries to incorporate exercise into at least a couple of dates each week. Saturday we went to the beach and power walked for a couple of hours and then we shopped in the cute ocean front boutiques. He bought me a new outfit in a much smaller size than our previous trip to the beach in May. I feel very blessed to have such an understanding man. When the time is right, tell him, answer his questions, but let him know you're still you...just much healthier. Good Luck in your choice and I hope you will be as blessed as I have been.
