Concerned About Pre-Op Diet...
kbliss78 replied to JessRess's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Dr did adkins recommended for two weeks. I started a week early. I have lost 8 lbs in 8 days but it feels weird eating all this meat when some are doing shakes...... -
8 days of Pre-Opt diet (adkins) and 8 lbs down. Feels good to be going in the right direction for a change.

Ok This Might Sound Stupis But How Can You Tell Between Whats You And Hanging Slkin From Weight Loss?
kbliss78 replied to show1980's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Lifting weights helps tone anything. It will help with lose skin and increase your calorie burn as well. It cannot hurt. I know that when I work out my arms and legs, even with being heavy, the shakiness and hanging gets MUCH better. But I expect lose skin will be a problem for me as well. -
Thanks, I needed this today. I am scheduled in two weeks. I have been very excited up till now and it is getting close and scary. It is hard to think about elective surgery and the risk I am choosing to take. But I also know I am taking a bigger risk staying overweight. I am excited to start my new life! Katy

Im Booked For A Lap Band Next Week, Im Petrified.
kbliss78 replied to willwin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The internet is so full of horror stories. It is best to just know your surgeons complications rates. However, I am scheduled in two weeks and I am getting very nervous as well. It is hard to select to have surgery. It is also scary to know you are signing up for a life time of change, commitment and some potential hazzards. However, I feel that if I stay at this weight, I have already signed up for that but much worse......I have to keep telling myself that I will make more healthier and a better wife, mom, employee and person. My quality of life is worth it. With that being said, the feelings are still there! -

That is great you are getting the effects you desired and feeling full with little food for a long time. I bet you will be unstoppable now! Good luck -
No More Muscle Milk Light Pre-Mixed Shakes...any Suggestions
kbliss78 replied to lisa123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was also told no liquid meals after mushy food stage unless it is for breakfast due to a tight band. Solids will make you full longer and faster, so I have been told. But I like EAS shakes..... -
Pregnant And Not Removing Fill
kbliss78 replied to ExFatGirl's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I may consider removing Fluid prior to delivery in case you have c-section or strain alot. I have a very close friend that had a major band slip due to a unexpected surgury and did not remove fluid. Now she has to have the band replaced. But if I were in your place, I would leave the fuild in till last month....best wishes for healthy baby and happy mommy! -
I had the same thing, (i have not had surgery). The pain was in the center of my stomack/body area right below my chest and when straight trhu to my back. Felt like I was being stabbed. I was in terrible pain. Turns out, it was the start of my gall bladder going out. Not sure if that is the same for you. If it happens more and more frequently then it could be gall bladder. That is classic symtoms of gall stones.

I was told 2 weeks if it is a pool and 4 weeks if it is the ocean or lake. They just want to ensure the outside stuff is healed to avoid infection.

I got so tired of all of that I decided to do a payment option and go self pay. It is worth it to me and important enough to me to make some major budget changes. However, I am lucky that I can do that. I cut some bills, changed cable bill, phones, and other stuff. It is going to even out money wise. It has been such a relief to be able to set dates and move forward without some stranger holding a denail stamp at this desk and not seeing me as a person needing help. Best wishes.

I joined about a month ago and have learned alot. You can go to any of the topic threads and read all the posts. There are a ton of successful people and people at all stages of their journey. You can also read blogs as well. I am set for surgery 5/8/12 and on pre-opt diet. This site help me pass the time and prepare myself for what is coming. I love it!

I can see why you got away for a while! You have already done so well and lost so much. I often think that those who have lost alot just dont think about it all that much anymore and living with the band is much more of a daily lifestyle thing. They dont need as much reassurance and questions as us newbies. However, I am sure coming back will help you in new ways! I am just starting my journey so seeing people that have been successful is great for me. Thanks for "coming back".

That is frustrating! You have so much excitement and nerves, not to mention the diet, and work/schedule arrangments just for them to reset it! It might be the right call but I totally get your frustration!

Maybe during large family meals you can "have plans already set" or have a class at the gym you are taking to get you out of the house and usually when you exercise you have a better outlook and mood. I am sure it is difficult right now to exercise since you have such a limited calorie intake but a pedicure might be nice If I were you, I would never sit in my room sad and alone again. Only you are in control of your feelings. Choose not to be sad and get out and do soemthing different. Later they will see you leaving and exercising while they stuff their faces. As you get skinner and come in after a run while they are all carb loaded, they will start to be the ones taht feel bad. Just thoughts! I am so sorry that you felt that way. SO tough!

(Since your ticker isnt on blogs, how much have you lost? Any NSV you are proud of other than the cleaned out closet? I love to hear all of that stuff!

Slipped Lapband Questions For Those Who Have Had It Fixed
kbliss78 replied to skinny3's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have not had that expirence but I am so scared of a slip. Do you know what caused it? How it happened? So sorry you have to go through that again. -
Welcome! I too am starting my journey. I am scheduled for the proceedure in 3 weeks. I have learned alot on this site from people posting. There can be some negativity, however, I see more success than negative. I am excited for your journey. I am also excited that you may be a Dr that will understand what your patients are going through if they are over weight. You know there are so many Drs that dont get it and think we dont care about our condition. If they really understood, they would see that it consumes most of our thoughts! Best wishes! Maybe you will find the cure for obesity

We are going to be very close to each others journey. I am scheduled 5/8. My pre-opt diet is just adkins so I cannot answer you question. But at least we will be on the path together! Best wishes!

My very close friend had a hystorectomy. Her Dr said she did not have to get an unfill. She did not do so. Then she woke and had a reaction to the sedation. She vomitted for several hours. It caused a major band slip. She now has to get it repaired but insurance is not covering it. She has gained 30 lbs back. After her story I would recommend an unfill for any proceedure. You never know and dont want to ruin your progress.

Had My Surgery Today!
kbliss78 replied to Shannon28's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on your surgery and thanks for sharing that it is not too painful. I am hoping the same for myself. I cannot answer your other question b/c i have not had surgery yet but now i want to know too! -
My Dr said walking for one month, then after one month I would be free to do anything. I dont know about anyone else, but running right after surgery would cause my stomack to bounce up and down which may irritate the port issue. I can run now for short distances prior to surguery (but since my tummy is not small, it does go up and down). Just something to think about. I imagine you will feel it if you need to stop. Good luck on Couch to 5K. I tried a year ago but had to stop at week 3. I think it was because I was too heavy. I am going to try again once i get 30 lbs off. Till then, walking and zumba for me

That is so awesome. I cannot wait for the day that I can go buy something that is NOT plus size. I am a 20 pant and XL top. So I plan to not buy a single thing until it is in a normal store. I have enough inbetween stuff till that time. I also have been day dreaming of a closet less packed with ugly fat clothes! Love reading this!

There is a great thread on this site where people discuss all details of their entire surgery date. Just search for the thread. It is great. Mine is set for 3 weeks away and I beleive i will be a ball of nerves no matter what! (which is usually not like me). Best wishes.

I have NEVER been excited to start a diet and I always start on Mondays. I always eat bad the weekend before as well. This week is three weeks pre-opt. I decided to change what I have always done. I started a week early and started on Sunday for my pre-opt diet. Starting it made the surgery feel more real. I was just too eager to began this weight loss journey plus I wanted to stop my brain from telling me to "eat this one thing one last time" or the "last meal" thinking. Luckily my pre-opt diet is only Adkins induction phase and not liquids like most people. If it was liquids I would be dreading the day! It feels weird to be excited about starting a diet and I feel proud that I decided to start early. If I continued to have "last meals" for another week I could have 5 more lbs to lose. This way I may even lose a few extra and give myself a jump start to a new life. Just thought I would share. Katy
