I too have wii Zumba and have gone to live Zumba classes. The classes are much more intense and I do believe they burn close to what they claim (for the class). The Zumba is less intense I believe. I now do the mid length class and a medium and sometimes high intensity. The high intensity is much more similair to the intensity of a live class. For the others I cut the calories in half (just a pure guess on my part). I gauge based on how hard I work out and how much I sweat compared to the other option. However, the WII Sumba is so great to have it at home, at your own time, no extra expenses. That is a great deal. Enjoy!

Fill At 3 Weeks???
kbliss78 replied to Missy05.29.12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
had mine at 3 wks and it was fine. -
I had surgery 5/8/12 so it is a few days short of one month. I lost 10 lb prior and 10 the week after, then stalled. I decided to put the scale up b/c I was obsessing. I plan to only weigh on fill appt days in the beginning. However, I had my third NSV. I am usually a size 20. I went to Target to look for swim suit tops b/c in 6 weeks we have a big trip planned. I was going to buy one a size smaller. However, as I began to try the plus size tops on, none fit. I went to the regular sizes and picked up a few tops. The one suite that I liked the most was only in a size LARGE. I tried it on and it FIT! Not plus size, not XXL, not XL, but LARGE! WOW, only one month out and I got to see LARGE on a reciept. Holy cow, that is truely what I needed. I also ran for the first time last night in over 3 years. I walked a mile and thought I would try to jog some of the next. I ended up jogging MOST of the second mile. I stopped 4 times for 30 seconds. I was very excited in the difference in my ability. I dont know if I have lost more than the 20 b/c I have not weighed but I sure love the NSV. Thanks for listening. Katy

I left 3 hours after surgery. But that was way too soon. It was out patient so they kicked me out but I felt I needed 2 more hours. But mine own bed was great. Hope it goes well for you!

I dont know what your dr will say about an unfill but I would consider it. My good friend has a lap band, she had to have a hystorectomy. She did not get an unfill but then got sick after the proceedure (she never was sick in all previous proceedures). She threw up so many times she had a major band slippage and has to now have a proceedure to fix it. She had to unfill and now has gained 30 lbs back waiting for insurance approval for the fix. I think some dont get an unfill but it seems like a gamble to me. I also totally understand not wanting to get one b/c it takes so long to get to green and the fear of regaining. It is a personal call you have to make with your Dr. Good luck! You will feel so much better after the gall bladder is gone. I had mine out and felt like a new woman. However, it was before band.

If you eliminate most or all carbs you will greatly reduce your food cravings making pre op diet easier. You will feel way less hungry. However, your pre opt may even be a low carb or adkins diet. Mine was, I didnt have to do shakes at all. Lost 10 lbs and surgeon was happy. Pre op is to make your liver small enough to do the proceedure so it is not in the way. You can also practice eating slower and smaller bites. That was and is very hard for me. You cannot take more than one small bite in a minute or 1.5 minutes. It is a very difficult change to adapt to. Otherwise, I am excited for you!

NSV is a "Non scale Victory". So anything you enjoy about your weightloss that doesnt have to do with the pounds on the scale. For example, I have ready that people are finally able to buckle a beat on a plane without an extension or able to run for the first time, or no longer have to buy stuff at plus size stores. Those cool things about getting smaller....

Your doing better than me. I lost 10 in the first week, now I am 4 weeks out. No lost for 3 weeks. I feel very discouraged and feel like I made a wrong selection in my proceedure. I am already following a very restrcited calorie intake and working out, not having snacks and drinking water. Once again, no loss. I really hope that things get better for me. I heard it takes a while but I wasnt mentally prepared for it.

What You Haven't Lost All The Weight Yet?
kbliss78 commented on Jim1967's blog entry in Jim1967's Blog
I am one month in. I lost alot the first week. Then nothing and then I put the scale away last week. I am measuring my food, tracking cals, getting water, and working out. I cannot beleive I cannot lose anything. I also had a big mouth. I usually am an open book but now every day everyone askes, so "how much are you down now', "how do you feel", "are you happy", can you eat that?...... I feel like I have to get a report to everyone every day and I see alot of people. I wish I could take it back and not tell anyone. It is not like me to be quite but being accountable to an entire office and having to act like it is going great when I have so much doubt is really hard. My mom called me two weeks before surgery and said "why dont you get the sleeve instead". Now that is all I keep hearing in my head. "I would have done better with the sleeve"..... Very difficult! I feel you pain! I hate failure and especially public failure. I am hoping green zone will help but I already am following a strict caloric intake. Ugh! -
First Fill, Not Feeling Any Restriction! Is This Normal?
kbliss78 replied to tokiesgirl6's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel your pain. I know i am very new. However, I am following rules to a T! I am eating small 3/4 cup meals and at 900-1000 cal a day and have worked out daily the last two of 3 weeks since surgery. I lost 10 lbs week of surgery and gained a pound back and nothing since. I would think even without the band 1000 cal diet and daily exersize would be simple math of less calories than taking in would equal loss. But I feel like every other deit I have every been on, where I fail again. I always hate reading negative comments on this page and now I am doing the same thing. I just felt that I should see something in the right direction instead of a 1 lb gain. I have always worked out too so I dont think it is recent muscle gain. I also read everyone posting that they lost alot in the first month and keep at that rate. I just didnt want it to be like this. Even if I had a 1lb loss a week I would feel better. So, yes, I know how you feel -
One Month Banded! Another Newbie!

That is interesting. I have read other people on this site say that hiccups are one of their "soft signs" that they are full/satisfied and to stop eating. I have noticed that about myself too. I only have one fill and not at green zone yet. But when I am 3/4 or so thru my meal I hiccup. I have learned to stop right then b/c any more bites equal discomfort. Maybe it will take a few days for your fill to settle in and you can eat a few more bites without the hiccups. It is weird how that happens though.....glad you are at the "R". I hope to get there at 3rd fill too!

One Month Banded! Another Newbie!
kbliss78 replied to BigDennis's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome to the site and WOW ! Congrats on that weight loss. I am super impressed. I hope you enjoy the site. It is usually very supportive. With everthing, there are a few negative comments and people but for the most part, I have learned a ton and enjoy the site. I was banded 5/8. RIght now I am feeling down b/c I lost 10 lbs pre op and 10 lbs first week post op then nothing the last 2.5 weeks. I have been tracking my calories, exercising and eating mainly protien and nothing. SO I am so impressed with you. You are doing great. I know it will happen for me too. Congrats on your beginning to your new life. -
Welcome to the site. I have enjoyed it. It seems to come in cycles as to a few days of great and positive posts followed by a few days of negative posts. I was on it for 2 months before my surgery and read alot of great things and read about people having great success losing weight fast and having no complications. Then the week before my proceedure every post was about band slips and major complications. It freaked me out. There are some great and suppportive people on the site as well as some that arent so much. I hope you enjoy the group.

Honestly it sounds like gall bladder and pregnancy is a huge trigger for gall bladder. It will come and go and hurts right were the band is. Mine did that for about a year till I got so sick I was hospitalized. It felt like someone stabbed be right in the center under my breast and sometimes it would go to my back in the same area. If you eat meats or fried food or foods with more fat it makes the attack more often. But they told me pregnancy was the main reason. Talk to your obgyn about checking your gall bladder. One more thing, with my second pregnancy I had kidney stones that sent me to hospital too. Pain felt like it was in my stomach. Needless to say pregnancy was hard on me. Best luck.

Feeling So Guilty About What I've Been Eating
kbliss78 replied to april22ky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Each surgeon is different but at week two I was told I could have soft Meats like tuna fish and ground meat. I don't think you did any damage. I am with true results and they do thousands of proceedures and so it cannot be that bad. -
5 Days Post Op And Hungry!
kbliss78 replied to jannaboo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first week I didn't even want to see food, it would take me an hour to get through a protien shake. Then over night the swelling went down and the hunger hit. I am three weeks post op and battling the hunger. It is bandster hell. I am just tracking my calories and trying to take it one day at a time till I reach the green zone. You are not alone. -
Finding The Lap Band Green Zone
kbliss78 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I realize this is an old thread, however, something I have been wanting to know is how long did it take most people before they starting losing consitantly. I am 3 weeks post. I lost a pound a day in the first week and 10 during pre-opt. Then once mussy foods started and I healed my hunger increased. I am following the rules and eating 3/4 cup of food slowly. I just get hungry quickly. I am also logging my food daily and staying betweek 1000 - 1200 calories but I stopped losing weight. I know this is "banster hell" I would just like to know how long it lasts. I see people post statements like - banded 6 months and down 70 lbs. I just wonder if the 70 (for example) was paced out or after hitting green zone. Thanks. Katy -
Way to go! Good work. Cannot wait to join you in the non-plus size section. I might be opposite and try to go to that section too soon. I already cut up my Lane Bryant credit card. I refuse to be another item of clothing there. I am going to make due with what I have till then.

Has The Band Actually Worked For You?
kbliss78 replied to OldMomOf3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am beyond happy to read you post. I knew the beginning would be hard waiting for the right amount of fills. I am dieting and it is so hard. But I really wanted to hear someone else say the first few months were hard. I began to wonder if I would be the person it didn't work for. I am following the rules and eating very strictly but the weight loss is like when I have dieted before, slow like a half a pound or a pound a week after the first week when I lost ten. Thanks for givin me hope again. -
Alright Alright, Sexual Intercourse???
kbliss78 replied to Tricia39's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I waited two weeks but just bc I didn't feel like it. It was fine and it also turned into my second NSV - next morning my hubby told me "baby I could really tell last night that you are down a lot in weight". It was sweet in a weird way. I am down twenty pounds and most from my tummy. -
Lap Band With Gastric Plication
kbliss78 replied to Calamity Jane's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt terrible surgery day and two days after, then the third day after was a big turn around. I ended up getting suppository antinausia mess which also helped me sleep. Hope things improve. I was kinda shocked cause I went in thinking I would handle it well as I have other procedures so I know what you are saying. -
Pre-Op And Preparing, Some Questions For The Banded?
kbliss78 replied to mylynn1377's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The hardest thing for me is sitting alone at the table when everyone is done. But they r waiting longer and I am trying to get used to the alone thing when they do get bored. Drinking is a challenge to. I had to not even sit down w a drink cause I was doing it without thinking. -
