Okay. I had my third fill and I am at 5.6 at two months post opt. I felt I was in green zone for the first week after this last fill. It was great and I even forgot about eating. However around the same time I got a sinus infection and I developed a cough. It felt like a lung infection but instill have the cough. I feel no restriction now and I am hungry again but this cough is still here. I don't cough at night. Is it just a coincidence that I have a cough or infection around same time as fill? My cough has been productive but now it is not. Anyone have this issue? I am so scared of a slip or complication. Advise please.

When You Hit Green Zone, You'll Know It
kbliss78 replied to kbliss78's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Google it for lap band. There is a graph showing it too. It is when you are no longer hungry and can be satisfied on 2-3 1/2 cup meals a day with no snacking and still don't have complications of being overfilled. It is where most weight is lost. -
I wouldn't be scared. Your swelling is down and the band is wide open. You'll be fine, soup is always a good menu choice if you are Worried

Appendectomy Similarities
kbliss78 replied to puppyphat's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had 2 c-sections and a gall bladder removal. The gall bladder removal was 3 holes and 30 minute proceedure. I thought the lap band would be similair. However, I felt it was harder than all three but only for 2 - 3 days. I was super suprised when I woke from recovery and had to walk for an ex-ray. I felt horrible. However, it was out patient so it was rushed to get me out. Maybe if I could have stayed a few hours I would have felt better. But after the first day, I noticed huge improvement each day. I have read that others had a really easy time. So it may not be like my experience. Good luck! -
Way to go from one Texas gal to another! I am happy for you and glad you made the choice to have the surgery and join the site. It is pretty supportive. I have learned alot. I was 272 before pre - opt and now I am 7ish weeks out and down 30lbs! I already feel ver good and I have had 3 fills. The last one took me to green zone and it is wonderful.

When You Hit Green Zone, You'll Know It
kbliss78 replied to kbliss78's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I have heard the band loses a small amount every year and most people have to go once or two a year and get a slight fill. Perhaps that is the case for you? Maybe schedule a visit and get s slight fill and see if the band starts working for you again. Sorry to hear you are struggling again. Call that Dr and tell him what is happening and I am sure they can get you back to that feeling. -
yes. I called the office and they said eat several 4 - 6 1/2 cup meals until you get to green zone. It is hard until then. It is really too hard to do only 3 - 1/2 cup meals until you have fills. Hang in there through bandster hell. It gets better.

It is your body, your life. Tell him you want it and would like his refferal, but if he wont give it, you will find another Dr. I would not let someone stand in my way. I would just show him that you have educated yourself on hte matter and it is your choice. Just my advice. Best luck.

My dr said 2 weeks and I could swim in a pool, 4 weeks for beach or lake due to bacteria.

Please Allow Me To Introduce Myself...
kbliss78 replied to harmony11's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
That is awesome that they resubmitted for you! Congrats on the date set. I am also very extroverted and especially on wine. I wonder how I will be when I reach goal weight and no longer have the insecurity of the weight issue. I cannot imagine being more extroverted but my weight does hender my self esteem. So I may be dancing on bars and singing kareokee. Oh, who am I kidding, I do it now as long as the bar will hold me up:) It is nice to hear from you. I can tell by your post you are fun, sarcastic and you have a great attitude. I wish the best for you on your journey. I also peaked the scale at 270 2 weeks prior to surgery (however I was heavier a few years back). I am 7 weeks post and already done to 247. Super happy and just hit green zone this week so it feels great. -
What a horrible thing that Dr did. It seems like a form of malpractice or fraud. But it is awesome you have the band working for you now! You have done great. Keep it up! Thanks for joining.

They say it takes 3 - 5 fills before green zone. After my first fill I didnt feel anything and I was very hungry. I called my Dr office and they told me to eat protien snacks inbetween meals till I get to green. I ate cottage cheese, almonds (small amount), string cheese. THose things lasted longer. It is still really bandster hell till you get to green zone. I had my 3rd fill this week and I am now at 5.6cc and I finally feel what the band is suppose to be doing for me. Before, it was just another hard diet.

Welcome! Best wishes on your journey. There is alot of great support here. THis site can be a little weird. Sometimes it is full of positive support and successful stories posted. Then for a week or two, it will take a turn to the negative and every post will be about a complication or failure. The week before my surgery all that was posted was band slips and "I have failed". I was freaked out! So just beware. I am only 2 months post op but I am so happy. I feel better already and I am already at green zone and feel little or no hunger and get full fast. It is so great since I have never had that in my life.

I hope the seminar went well for you last night. I think as long as you the minimum requirements for the surgery it will still be covered. When I was trying to get insurance to cover it, as long as I didnt lose below 40 BMI and still had a comoriblity, how much I lost during the 6 month thing wouldnt matter. I was in no risk of going under 40 at that time. However, I ended up not having to do the 6 month diet b/c I went self pay. Insurance continued to deny. Best of luck on your journey. I am 2 months post op and very very happy. I have lost 25 - 30 lbs (depends on which scale). It is not as much as others but I am very happy.

Your Dr can provide a note about a needed surgery but not say what you are getting. I told work I got a hernia repaired. I took 1 week off. I was tired when I returned. However, I have a 35 lb two year old. I asked my Dr about her and he said after 3 - 4 days post opt I could lift her b/c my body was already very use to that activity. I started to pick her up and resumed my mom duties at day four with no problem. Your body is use to what you are doing but it sounds like it might be a bit much. You dont want to do damage and have to repair a new surgery. You can also create alot of scar tissue in that early phase. That tissue hurts more later. After my first c - section, I didnt follow advice and lifted alot of stuff, carried the baby and carrier and crib. I developed scar tissue which is still there. I really would get a note from the Dr and then it is likely they will have to work with you alittle more. Even if you return at week one, they may have to let you take more trips with less weight. Best of luck!

New To Forum, Banded Since 2006

I think you will like this site. There is alot of great information and support. I am sorry to hear about the regain, however, congrats on the major success. Just look at it as a bump in the road or a minor detour. You will get back on track, you just have to reset your habits and mind as well as getting the band to work for you again (which is sounds like you have). Nice to hear from you. -
I also agree with Lollicatt. drinks slide through. If carbonation doesnt bother you from belching or built up gas, then you are fine. I read the same book and had my proceedure through True Results. They said they finally did research on the wine issue and found those that had 1 -2 glasses a night of wine lost faster so they changed their advise and told people to enjoy wine if you like it. I was happy about that. I ususally drink 1 - 3 glasses a week. I also drink diet coke about 1 x a week. However, diet sprite seems to bother me more....wierd. I would follow the advice in the book. There is alot of research behind it. However, you will read alot of different stuff here b/c every single Dr is different.

Food=Energy. How To Exercise On So Few Calories.
kbliss78 replied to radarluv's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You may eat a snack like almonds or cheese before a workout to have energy to do so. My Dr office advised that sometimes with heavy workouts you may need a snack. If you what Extreme Makeover Weightloss Edition, they work out 4 hours a day and eat only 1200 calories. So they end up burning all that they eat. The goal is to turn our reserved fat into the energy our body is burning. I like to think of my fat as a huge savings account that I have to spend now. I dont want to use much of my checking account or I wont spend the savings account. That might not make sense but it does to me. You can also do 2 or so days of weight training to reduce muscle loss. It increases metabolism as well. I can eat 800 - 1000 calories a day and do hour zumba class which burns 300 - 800 calories. Someone on the site said exersize with the band is light gasoline to a fire. It ramps it up faster! If you are very hungery still you may be in the yellow zone. Best of luck! I think living with the band must be taking one day at a time. -
I have 5 cc until today and now 5.6 cc in my band. I eat around 850 - 1000 calories a day. I eat on a small side plate and keep the food to taht size. I measure out carbs (rice and pasta) to 1/4 cup (more like a small taste). I eat protien first and a side salad or broccoli as filler. I usually eat greek yogart in the morning. I have also found that on days I am very hungry that refried black beans (1/4 - 1/2 cup) really helps fill me up and curbs the hunger. Plus it is protien as well. I log everything everyday and that seems to be the one thing that keeps me on track. If I have a bad day, I log it too so I can see how just a few bites here and there add up. It keeps me accountable. I struggle somedays but it is more good days than bad. Weekends are a mental challenge for me b/c my family eats worse. SO it is a work in progress for me. Each weekend I do better I tell myself I am making good changes. I try not to go to the negative place in my head when I dont do well. I hope that helps.

I have BCBC Texas. I tried three different times in the last ten years and was denied every attempt even with appeals. It is very difficult. I made the choice to go "self pay". I made a few changes in my budget and got financing so that the payments are totally managable. Once I made that choice, it was such a releif. I am sorry you have been through so much. I wish you the best and hope you find a way to reach your goals even if insurance is not the option.
