  1. I am being banded 5/22/12. I am very excited and nervous. I would like to ask people who have already been banded a few questions. First, what was the first 3 months like? How much weight did you lose? Second, I have a vacation already scheduled with my husband and friends at 7 weeks post surgery. It should be shortly after my first fill. What should I expect? Should I pack certain foods/drinks in case I have restriction? I have already began to work on some of the rules to prepare my brain. I eat one bite and wait a minute till the next. This has already reduced the amount of food I eat b/c I dont want to eat for 2 hours and I get the full feeling faster or before I am done with my plate. Also, my food gets cold and loses some appeal. I have not dont it every meal but I am getting there. My bites are not as small as they will have to be with the band. I feel like the rules are "doable" but I also get scared when I read how many people have not lost weight. I dont want to fail again. Please let me know what your first 90 days was like, what I can expect in lifestyle and weight loss and what I can do to prepare more mentally! Thanks! Katy (banded scheduled 5/22/12 - My highest weight was 306. I went for first appt and was at 270 and now am at 267, I hope to lose 100 to 110 lbs)

    Up Downs Slips And Stops

IT is amazing to hear that you have lost over 100 lbs. It is so great to hear your story about going to the Buckle. I have walked by that store many times thinking the stuff looks so cute and knowing I cannot shop there. I will have my surgery on 5/22 and I know that it will be a difficult struggle. But I am still excited just to have the help of the band on my journey. I got up to 300 lbs once and since i had my son, I have been at 260 - 270. I am proud that I did not go back up to my top weigh but sad that I cannot get lower (for more than a month). I feel if I can maintain 6 years, then with the band I can do better. I love reading other's stories and yours was great too. I need to hear postiive things from people that have been successful. Thanks.
  3. I havent had surgery yet but my True Results Mentor told me to consider telling little to nobody. He said people will say silly stuff like "i thought you would have lost more by now" or other stupid comments. He said it is better not to have to explain alot to anyone and have a mentor to vent to. He said it is hard with everyone watching to see how you do and judging along the way. I am very open and I have told 5 co-workers and my family (except my dad - he will be mean about it). I am sure the word is around more now that I am getting it. I did so b/c I dont care that much what others think, I have great friends that like me anyway, and I dont want to lie about why I am eating, acting and looking different. But that is just what I think will work for me. I am scheduled 5/22/12.

    So Unhappy :(

I have not had my band yet (scheduled 5/22/12). However, I am confused. i keep reading about everyone wanting to get to restriction. However, I thought restriction meant you were on read zone and that the green zone meant no restriction and just no hunger. I think you dont have to have restriction to be doing well (from all I have read). You really just need to not feel hungry. If you are trusting restriction to stop you from eating, it may be that you are not following the rules. However, I could be totally wrong, that is why I am asking.....Thanks for correcting me if I am wrong or explaining this restriction issue more.
  5. My name is Katy. I live is Central Texas. I have 2 children, 6 year old boy and a 2 year old daughter. I am married to my best friend for 11 years this weekend. I have struggled with my weight since I was 18 years old. I have tried every single diet including rx meds (all types) since that time. It has been difficult for me. I have never given up and am always trying to work out and eat right. I just dont success constantly. I looked into gastric bypass 8 years ago but I was declined by insurance and I am glad b/c it seems scary now to alter my body so drastically to cut my stomack and change the way it functions. I am set for surgury on 5/22/12. I had to set it so far out so I could come out with teh down payment for True Results. I am scheduled to have my proceedure with Dr. Alex Esquviel in Austin, Texas. My mentor is Paul and he is fantastic. My husband is very supportive and loving. I am so excited and I wish I did not have to wait 3 months. I have 108 lbs (i want to get to 160) to lose and I am hopefull it can be done. It looks like alot of people hit their goal weight while others lose slowly and dont get there. I fear failing at this more than anything. I am so determined to follow the rules. I am already trying to eat slower and chew slower to train my mind correct habits. My wishes: Cut up my Lane Bryant Card Buy a pair of jeans at a normal store run a 5k in 12 months play with my son and daugther instead of being so tired when I get home Not feel embarrassed all the time walk with confidence buy a pair of shorts Hire divorce attorneys for my thighs so they have a nice and quick seperation! wear high heals to work more without bringing other shoes to change into by lunch Not hide in pictures or videos Feel proud of my acoompilshments THose are just a few.........
  6. Thanks everyone. I love how encouraging this forum is! Will be here a lot!

    Waiting For Lap Band Surgery

This is my first post and I am new to the site. I am also set for May 22, 2012. I am self pay and had to come up with a down payment and needed time to do so. Also I have a work training obligation that goes through until first of May. I am hating this wait. I am so excited to get started and see results. I have already tried to make major eating changes to get ready. However, I just cannot wait. Here are some of my initial goals: -Cut up my Lane Bryant Credit Card -Buy my first pair of jeans in a regular store -run a whole lap around the track without stopping! I want to have a year goal of running a 5k -6 month goal of buying a pair of shorts! I just wish my journey can start now. I am glad I have found this site. I will be spending some time here. I have also watched a ton of You Tube Lap Band journeys which help prove to me that I can do it too! Anyone else out there that has to wait until May? -
