Do you ever wish you could eat "normal" again?
candtwalker replied to ivyh's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am with you as to everyone else eating around you. When our family sits down to eat, I have a very small amount on my plate and everyone else's plate is very full. I am always the last to finish. It seems as if everyone is looking at me and thinking "hurry up". (No one can leave the table until everyone is finished eating) -
Each person will find their own green zone at different fill levels. Banded May 2012, I have 30 lbs til goal. I have a 10cc band with a 5.25cc fill. Still no green zone. But gonna keep working my band!

Just less of it? I have found myself eating the same types of meals as I used to "preband", just much less of it. I am maintaining my weight where I am happy, so I am not worried about that. I was just wondering if there are any other banders out there that eat the same things as before the band, just a lot less.

I remember Dr. Batista. He was a good doctor. I did not use him for my Lapband but I liked him. We were stationed in Mayport, but we are retired Navy in Houston now. I tried for approval for the sleeve through Tricare South and it was denied. But they did approve the band. I am happy with it, but I sometimes wonder if the sleeve would have been better for me personally. I wish you luck and let us know when you get your approval.

I do not even go 2 hours without hunger. When I feel the hunger, I drink a glass of Water, wait 15 min. If I am still hungry ( which is a lot) I eat.

Where Are You in Your Weight Loss Journey?
candtwalker replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was banded 13 months ago and have lost between 65 and 75 lbs. I have been going up and down those same 10 lbs for about the last 6 months! My goal is 130-135. But I am kind of happy where I am at right now. That is probably why I am sub continently playing around with those 10 lbs like a game. I do want to get to goal someday. Eventually it will happen. I am just enjoying "MY" journey right now. -

Rheumatoid Arthritis and Lapband anone?
candtwalker replied to Michelle Denise's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have RA as well and I am doing great with the band. The only caution I was given by my dr was prednisone. All of my other medications I had to adjust (in size) because they were simply too big to go through my stomach. -

Interested in doing a weekly call-in for supporting each other?
candtwalker replied to katspaw's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Tuesday @ 6:30pm would be OK. That would make it 8:30pm my local time. -
I was out of whack for 3 months! I think it was from the surgery plus the rapid weight loss.

Are you always conscious of your band?
candtwalker replied to Bandashoop's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I do not feel the band its self, but I soooooo feel the port every day. It sits where my pants go around my waist and it actually is sore all the time. I have talked to me doctor about relocating it and he said he would. I want to get to my goal before I do it. (15lbs to go!) -
There is a section in Jean's book about the different "signs" of feeling/being satisfied, which is what we should be feeling. There is a lot of good info in her book, I would recommend it to everyone.

Good to hear. For me 5 1/2 is too loose and 6 Is too tight! I will be calling my doc on Monday for a slight unfill. Maybe .25 will be my magical number.

I can understand the logical reason to feel restriction for a few days after a fill, then possibly it going away. (Stomach is irritated and possibly swollen then the swelling goes down) But what logical reason would you "not" feel restriction immediately after a fill and then 1 1/2 weeks later feel it and somewhat over tight? I have read on this forum some veteran members stating to not worry if you don't feel the restriction after a fill that it could take up to 2 weeks to feel it. This makes no logical reasoning. Can someone explain it?

Does anyone take ambien to sleep?
candtwalker replied to seeme1954's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I take Ambien. I have been taking it for a very long time. I have no issues with it and my band. -
Congrats! What a great feeling!

I have a really big sweet tooth, so I am constantly using Splenda in my teas and even to sweetin up my Crystal Lite ???‹. To my surprise there are actually about 4 calories in a packet of Splenda. The FDA allows for anything under 5 calories to be listed as zero. So, it's absolutely not a "zero calorie sweetener" except by the FDA's definition. Those 4 calories per packet can add up! Taking it one day at a time.

I had this same thing happen to me during a stressful time. I went a week with the "stuck" feeling because I did not want to take the time to go to the doctor. (Very bad!) I finally called my doc and he advised me to go on liquids for 3 days. I did this and I was still a little too tight so I went in and had a slight unfill. Now everything is fine. Sending you prayers. Taking it one day at a time.

It has been 9 months since I have been banded and it has been a roller coaster ride for me! I went thru Bandster Hell(expected). I had fills every month staring at 6 week post op. By Aug I was at 6.5 cc. That was way to tight so I had 1/2cc taken out 1week later. I was steadily loosing weight and was quite happy with the results I was achieving! I was feeling restriction and was being satisfied with the small portions. Then horror hit in my home! (Long story short ....... Contracted roofers left backer board off the roof overnight and it rained that nigh! After all said and done ..... $60,000 worth of damage and the contractor had cancelled his ins policy 1 weeks prior to my project starting. ) luckily my homeowners stepped in to repair the damages! Anyway, this happened in Aug and we did not move back into my home until Nov 15. During this time I have been putting on and taking off the same 10 lbs and cannot get out of this vicious circle! Because of what was going on, I got very depressed. Which lead to eating around my band or just choosing the wrong things to put in my mouth. I then see the weight going up so I follow the rules for a while and the weight comes off. I get disheartened again about the house and around the circle we go again! I am on Pristique for the depression and it was helping me tremendously before all of this. My home is back to normal now and I was hoping to just jump back into the routine I was in before Huricaine Todd (the contractors name) came through my home! Didn't happen ! It has now been three months since we have moved back in and I am still battling those 10 lbs! I lost momentum I guess and cannot get it back. I am still 25-35 lbs away from goal and I really want it. I have really bad arthritis in my hips and it is very painful to exercise. I am lost and don't know what to do! I am ashamed I am in this circle and I want to get on the straight and narrow again fast! Please let me know if something like this has happened to you and how you over came it. I have already tried just pulling up the old boot straps and merged on, but it didn't work! Any ideas or suggestions that worked for you would be great! Thanks for listening, Carla Taking it one day at a time.
