  1. I am eleven months out - thinking I had conquered the "eating" thing yesterday - I stopped at a local fast food restaurant and ordered the chicken sandwich (plain) - got back to my desk and ate the meat part way too fast (I was preparing for a big event at work and semi stressed out by all the things that were left to be done) - within ten minutes I began to get dizzy - sweaty and began to vomit without stopping! Had to be driven home - did not make the event (thank you to all those who filled in for me). As I laid in bed still reeling from the experience - I chastised myself for abusing this tool that had given me my life back. I promised I will once again plan my meals better, eat slower, keep myself in check at all times. I embrace the sleeve and all it as allowed me to do in the past year. I am sorry sleeve I will not abuse you again.
  2. I have only vomitted a couple times since surgery........ I know my body well enough to know what caused this

    Any More Sixties?

63 here - down 82lbs since January 2012 - feel great - love wearing normal clothes - threw out all the big clothes. I am settled at my current weight of 179 -181 would like to loose 20 more to say I have lost 100lbs - but it I can't. I am happy being where I am. I eat too fast as well and having trouble getting myself motivated to excescize - New Years resolution is to start going to the YMCA and moving more. As long as you are healthy then do it - why not !

    female sleever from connecticut !!!!!

I am older than all of you - sleeved in January 12 - down 86lbs and loving the sleeve - no complications. So glad you all doing well.
  6. I weigh myself every morning - it does not dictate how much I have lost - I just monitor it so I don't gain. It is a tool to keep me motivated. When I hit a stall I am okay with it because it is not about the weight it is about how you feel and those wonderful inches. I went to buy new pants as I had none from the weight loss - I tried on one pair they fit so I went and bought the same pant in different colors - each one fit different - one too big and one too small - so it doesn't matter what the label says either.
  7. I am 10 months out and have 20 more pounds to go - see myself slipping a bit (had a couple of small halloween candies) - my plan is to sign up for weight watchers in January to try their plan again - my concern is that it is too much food for me - any thoughts?

    5 Confessions (Join In)

I confess that I have been eating more than I should - but alot less than I would like I confess that each morning I have one swig of diet pepsi - compared to to 12oz bottles before. I confess that I drink vodka on the rocks with lemon so I can drink one more drink than if I drank it with club soda I confess that I have not excersized on bit since my surgery - I joined the YMCA but have not utilized it. Now I feel better becasue you don't judge me

Over 60 and having the sleeve

Anytime - it was not simple and there were more emotional issues than I imagined - some were funny such as shopping in a store where there fifty different tee shirts instead of five to choose from. Empying my closet and getting rid of some clothes that used to bring me comfort were now too big. The day before my surgery I annouced to facebook what I was doing - received an amazing amount of support which helped along the way. You can connect with me anytime

Over 60 and having the sleeve

Relax you are not alone at all. I am 63 - 9 months out from surgery; I did not have too many medical problems, a few that if I did not loose the weight could have been determental to my life. I wanted to extend the good year left; wanted to walk, wanted to swim in warm waters, wanted to carry my granddaughter, wanted to look better in my clothes, wanted to laugh louder and longer. I have lost 80lbs (from 260 to 180) and want to loose 20 more - I eat what I want, drink what I want - just alot less of everything. I still enjoy going out for dinner - if I order a dinner I take it home for three more meals, usually I do Soup and app. I have a glass of wine or drink vodka on the rocks. After surgery give yourself a few months to learn the sleeve and to readjust to life with it - don't rush it will all work out.

    Alcohol?

Just dropped into this conversation - I am a drinker - sleeved in January 2012 - down 84lbs. I did not have a drink for three months; then I took it slow and tested it out with a beer (my drink of choice) got drunk fast and came down even faster. Then tried wine (red felt too thick) found a nice pino and drank a few glasses a week, but never felt good in the morning. So I went to my next favorite Vodka - tried it with soda and all was okay other than I drank it too fast. A friend suggested Vodka on the rocks. It is now my drink of choice as I have one or two sip it while drinking water on the side; I get a little buzzed slowly and it all works. The sleeve works differently for everyone; it is trial and error with it all. I chose the sleeve because I wanted to live my life my way and it is working for me.

    Explain Your Name!

My name first and middle .....
  16. When I decided to have the surgery I was fully prepared emotionally for the social issues as well as the changes in my life my Doctors office gave me alot of help in this matter. I gave myself three months (fortunately for me it was Jan-Feb-March in New England so I wasnt' missing much). Now eight months out I am down nearly 80 lbs go out with my friends to dinner and drinks often and have managed to make it all work out just fine. And must admit it is so much more fun going out wearing a size 14 rather than a 24. Give this time - don't be discouraged - trust me you will look back at all of this with only one question - why didn't I do this before.

    What Food Do You Miss?

I don't miss anything - I eat everything just so much less of it ! That is why I choose the sleeve.

    Stalls, Fact Or Fiction?

pdx - I have weighed myself everyday all my life - just how I live. I like your idea once a month - just would not work for me. Your numbers are great - congrats.

    Stalls, Fact Or Fiction?

Stalls are a fact of this life - I believe it is your body adjusting to the new life style. The scale should not be your only gauge for weight loss - during this times take a minute to notice the non scale victories such as loose clothing, crossing your legs, you will get through it all - we all have. I always remember the Doctor didn't have the surgery and while he is the professional person we should trust the most ( I do) they don't get the day to day facts of this surgery - My doctor just laughed when I explained this theory to him.
  21. congrats you look and sound fabulous. Keep up the good work
  22. I am at 8 months; sometimes I can eat more than other times - I eat what I want; but stop when I start to get the full feeling - it is my tool to keep me in line. I just went through some medical issues unrelated to the sleeve so it helped me over the slump hump I was at. I we all listen to our bodies talk we can make it though and keep the weight off permantely.
  23. been taking it for years - it works with no problems before and after surgery

I'm Here At The Beach And...

I was in the exact same place you are last year at this time - at the Outer Banks in North Caroline in a goregeous home on a beautiful beach being the heaviest one in the house of 15 close friends. They walked each morning, they jumped in the waves while I sat alone fuming at myself for allowing the weight to come back again and again. On the last day of this wonderful vaction I asked a friend to take my picture - I was appalled and so sad - I made a committment to all of them and to myself to go through with the sleeve. So a year later I am seven months out from surgery (Jan 10th ) and 75 pounds lighter. Can't wait to walk with everyone - play in the Water and be free of the onus of my weight. Make your decision yourself - but for me it was the best thing I have every done.
