My surgery is august 8th in south carolina. I'm leaving SC after my post op appt on the 16th. (my post op appt and my clearance to go...) well, theres a concert in hershey Pa friday and saturday and my boyfriend was going to get us tickets for both days. we would spend 2 nights over there... which means drive the 10 hours from sc to pa....then saturday home to NJ (2 hours) ..... The driving isn't what im worried about... will i be able to physically sit in the heat and watch the show...I'll be able to have my Water and hopefully my Protein shakes. It's probably going to be about 90-97 degrees ...we would do the show and probably walk around the park (no rides of course being only 1 week out from pre op) ... Do you think i will be able to go ????

That would be a good question to post in one of the mexico threads , i know its been asked before. honestly , i dont even know what happens if something happens after my surgery ....doc did mention hes got friends in NJ (hes originally from NJ and got recruited to sc) so his friends would take care of me but thats still a couple hours away.

yea i guess your all right! Normally i would be stubborn and say screw it! I'M GOING!!!! but I know you all have my best interest at heart and i know it will be a big risk...and being so far from my doctor I dont think I'll go. BUTTTTT.... i am going to put hershey park on my list of things to do when i lose more weight it'll be a "goal reward!" I think I may sit this one out lol. i was hoping i would feel up to it but thats a huge risk. Besides I'll probably be really home sick by then and want to go straight home, not to another hotel ! thanks for your input everyone!

i have muscle milk light ( ready to drink choc and vanilla) for my pre op, i tried them and they seem really good. I'm sure after 2 weeks of nothing but them, ill hate them but they taste kind of like slim fast.

Congrats on your sleeve! Can't help ya much since im still pre op. I havent ben through it but from what i've seen with my forum friends getting sleeved, struggling with the fluids is hard and soreness generally lasts a week (again, from what i've heard) ....Hope you feel better soon, it will be well worth it in the end

yes it feels amazing! it would feel more amazing if i was 100% debt free first but i've gotten my shakes for the pre op diet, some post op stuff, some clothes to wear while im down there, paid off the 1200 for the condo, among everything i mentioned. This is amazing to me! and, as im losing weight...i'll have more energy to work. Right now, im completely drained from being this over weight and working 81 hours a week. I hope it gets easier so i can make that $! I figured since i have a good paying job now (that i really can't count on-it could be gone tomorrow)...i would get this done now. I may never have this opportunity. If i can keep that job for another year ill be golden ....i am going to start a "goal" fund though SHOPPPINGGGG SPREEEEE!!!

Holy pickles, this is real!!! So, Upon attempting to get out of debt, I picked up another debt. I decided I wanted to be sleeved and got a 7,000 loan for Dr. washington. Right now, I'm doing very well financially. However, I'm working my booty off! (not literally, yet.) So I started a "fund". Thats what I call it: "THE FUND." The fund included: 1200 for septembers bills. (my surgery is in august, so those will already be paid. But taking off 2-3 weeks from work, I wanted to make sure there were no worries the following month.) 1000 for the surgery balance. (since i got a 7000 loan, and owed 1000 more) 400 Fun money (Will be shopping and getting pedi's ..ill be in myrtle beach for 2 weeks, i need SOMETHING to do!) 200 for gas. This financial goal I set a couple months back seemed SO FAR AWAY! but, i focused...worked my ass off and completed it!!!(UPON PAYING MY OTHER BILLS TOO!) I put the last 500 in today and almost cried! This is real. This is happening. I'm really doing this for me and I have the financial means to do so. It's no longer so far fetched! Dr. Washington, Here I come!!!!

WOW!!! so, you had a 6 month diet. Do you have to do a 1 or 2 weeks liquid diet or anything before your surgery besides the 6 month diet?? Congrats btw, you've done great!!!

I'm super excited that the time is flying by! I went yesterday and got a few comfy outfits since im going to the beach for my surgery. It's going to be hot. I'm having a party (a christmas in july, surprise birthday party ) for my best friend whos birthday is on christmas. It's going to be 3 days before my pre op starts! Mine is 2 weeks Protein shakes....and i believe sugar free Jello. my friend is having it and said her doc said she can eat whatever but has to drink Protein Shakes too (that doesnt make sense to me . ) Another friend on here had it for 3 days (protein shakes) and another person had shakes but could eat chicken and steak as well. His diet was basically the atkins induction phase.

Yea pretty much lol. Ideally i'd like to do it every 8th of the month. but i know ill be doing it every wednesday...(videos) and ill be weighing myself every hour on the hour. OBSESSED!!!!!!!! lol

Did you do the written appeal? I've seen some people have to write a letter to their insurance company and state all the points in which you SHOULD be approved for the surgery. I'm sure its some where in the forums. Also, maybe you can ask your doctor and see what he says? I have BCBS and i was all set up to have my first appt and orientation with my surgeon and then i decided let me call and just ask what criteria i have to hit with BCBS . I did, and their response was " We don't cover bariatric surgery" i left it at that and then called back a few days later and they gave me the same response. I asked if i could change my policy to one that did cover it and she told me no , we don't cover it. So i dont know what the deal was. at that point i started looking for other surgeons.
