  1. I quit cold turkey, used a lot of Advil for 3 days, and it was done. I still miss it, but I don't crave it.

    Driving

My doctor said to drive when I was "ready" and not taking pain meds. I drove the Sunday after my surgery, which was on a Tuesday.

    Hiatal Hernia Question.

Mab, I asked for more the day after I got home from the hospital, because I knew I would run out over the weekend. I was really scared of the pain! My pharmacist was a little alarmed, but I explained, and then he understood; my doc had no problem with refilling and gave me one additional refill. (I had a total of three prescriptions) And I used it all. After the first week, I was using it only 2-3 times a day, and at the end of that week, just once in the morning after I arrived at work. (Didn't want to be drowsy driving, and I have a desk job.) I'm no hero, I just took the pain meds, no need to be uncomfortable with the pain.

    Hiatal Hernia Question.

I had one repaired too. Based on other people's posts here, it think there may be a little more pain associated with the repair. Many people on these boards say they didn't have any pain, but I did. I guess I don't mean pain so much as pressure, but the Lortab allowed me to relax comfortably. I think it was related to the hernia because when I took deep breaths, it slightly hurt (like breathing cold air). Don't be alarmed though, none of this was terrible pain like child birth. Good luck!

How Long After Surgery Were You Sore?

I felt a lot better on day 6, and fairly normal after two weeks. I am almost 7 weeks now, and just starting to feel less fatigued. Hope you recover super fast!
  6. I thought it was just me, but I don't go as much either. And I don't have that full bladder sensation like I used to either. I wonder if my stomach was lying on my bladder...

    Losing Without Protein Drinks?

For the first time today, after 6 weeks of drinking Protein shakes, I added 1 tsp of decaf instant coffee to my chocolate. It seriously reduced the sweet taste and the Protein Powder smell. Worth a try, maybe?

    Goodbye Letter To My Family

I did the same thing, wrote good bye letters to my family and wrote a will!
  10. Yesterday, I ate a coffee popsicle from Whole Foods. It was wonderful! But all night long I had to urinate. Then this morning, I drank 1/2 a Protein shake made from Click (coffee protein powder). Today I feel bad. A little dizzy, my stomach hurts, and my eyes were unevenly dilated. I'm super tired. I've drank about 52 ounces today; 20 in the past hour. I've been averaging 40-50 ounces a day since surgery. Could I be dehydrated? Really, from a popsicle further complicated by a Click Protein Shake? Do I need to go in, or can I just keep drinking?
  11. Thanks everyone, I think there may have been caffeine in the yummy popsicle. Tonight I had a decent dinner and have drunk (drank?) 65 ounces, and I am starting to feel better. I hate that I cannot have even a little caffeine. I guess I'll skip the Click for now...
  12. Sentos, you are losing weight! Try, try, try to focus on the positive. The surgery is not magic, but over time, the weight will come off. Mine comes off in ounces over days and weeks. Remember, the first major drop is from Water and puffiness when you go on the liquid diet. Once that junk is out, now you are losing the real weight.

19 Days Post No Loss Is 6

Thanks, I guess I was thinking the stall would arrive at 3 weeks post op, which it did for me. LOL, I guess it can come at any time and last for 3 weeks? I'm blonde, does that shock you?

I Did Something Very Stupid Today

So glad you were able to choke down the chicken. I've felt like this both before and after surgery, and you're are right, the best thing you can do is to fuel your body. Glad you are back in action!

    Trouble Taking In Liquids

I am 4 weeks post op and I still feeling like drinking liquids is my #1 top priority of the entire day. I still only get in 40 ounces most days. I felt so great and lost a pound on the day I got in the full 64 ounces.
  18. I swear I searched for this in all of the posts, but didn't find my answer. Can I have a little Peanut Butter on a spoon during the pureed stage? I am three weeks post-op and I must admit I am having trouble with pureed foods, and I've been still eating a lot of yogurt and drinking shakes and powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury broth; however when I cross over to food, I'm probably eating soft stage food rather than pureed. I need more options. Any thoughts on peanut butter?

Peanut Butter? Pureed Or Not Pureed? That Is My Question...

Blackberryjuice, it is PB2 is powder; so no, it doesn't get hard, just mixes like the Protein powder. I have also used regular Peanut Butter in a shake years ago, and it didn't get hard either. I use a blender, just a cheap one serving blender from Target. Oops, sorry for the typo, I didn't proofread (obviously).

    I Am Starving

My doctor told me that feeling hunger sometimes is normal and also to eat every three hours. I am 3-1/2 weeks post op and the hunger was strongest after about 10-14 days post op. After about day 17 or 18, I really haven't felt much hunger, but I am eating every three or so hours, albeit in very small quantities. I am starting to believe that the Gherlin hormone has something to do with the hungry feeling, and once it is reduced in the body, the hunger has subsided. Frankly, I think feeling a little hungry is a normal part of life. The feeling is how our bodies are programmed to remind us to eat. We should be eating, just in smaller amounts.

Peanut Butter? Pureed Or Not Pureed? That Is My Question...

I have used PB2 in my protein shakes. I put about 1 tablespoon. It gives a nice flavor, but for some reason it thickens my shake, and that I'm not fond of.
  22. I'm eating nonfat refried beans with a sprinkle of cheese.
