    A Before & After

Beautiful, Betterthan! Excellent and I love the idea of wearing the same blouse in the before and after shots. Great idea.
  2. I may be wrong, but I think the issue is that we don't eat enough volume to absorb all we need from food.

    Anyone Regret Your Sleeve?

esheldon, you have done quite well if you are only just now getting frustrated! But, just a few more days and that fish will taste great. I am 2 months out, I would consider myself a slow loser. I have had many moments of being angry that I can't eat certain things, and I have eaten some things that I shouldn't (Cheetos), but I don't regret the surgery whatsoever. I feel like I have lost 100 pounds; I am rarely hungry; and when I do eat something I shouldn't it isn't a full-fledged binge. It is so worth it all!

    Icecream

Check out the recipes on http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com for protein ice cream. I bought an ice cream maker today and can't wait to try!

    A Beer...lol

Sorry, I wouldn't do it, it is too soon. My doc recommends a full year before having alcohol. Plus, at three weeks out, I wasn't feeling even close to normal. I would pass.

    Calories 4 Weeks Post Op?

I am usually at 1,000 calories, but I am 8 weeks post op today. I've been eating this amount for about three weeks. My NUT and doctor want me between 1,000 and 1,200 per day.

Did Any One Else Have Back Pain Caused By Surgery?

I had back pain for about a month. I couldn't figure it out, but I wonder if I was overcompensating with my back by not using my abdominal muscles. Not sure, but one day it went away.

    How Come.....

Mine was way different too. They are all different. I would do what your doctor says, just to be safe!

    Complications

Wow, I am sending up prayer for you. Best wishes.

    Deodorant

I use Secret Clinical strength which helps in the Houston humidity!

    Sipping

I'm almost 8 weeks post op and can take small drinks. Sometimes I take a gulp and that doesn't feel great, but otherwise I've been taking small drinks since I was 5 weeks post op.

What Would Happen If I Cheated?

I was "eating" Protein shakes one week out. At two weeks out, I was able to eat yogurt and refried Beans. I wouldn't cheat, there is no reason to risk a leak. Plus, it's a slippery slope and isn't that what got us here in the first place? Sorry to preach, I need to hear it too.

March Sleevers How Are You Doing?

I was sleeved on March 6, and I have lost 25 pounds. I too was hoping for more, seems like it went "on" faster than it is coming "off." I am struggling with getting all of my liquids in, usually around 50 oz. per day. My most recent epiphany is that I really do need to give up refined carbs, which is not something I resolved before surgery. I read eggface's blog, http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/, which has helped me a lot. It's a lifelong process, not a quick fix, but I am so grateful for having this opportunity now and not wasting any more years!

3 Years Or More Post Op...memory Changes?

I read somewhere that the gherlin that makes us hungry also helps with our memory. So when we lose the gherlin, we might lose some of our memory. I'm not sure where I found the article. It might be worth googling gherlin and memory.
  15. Mab, I am so sorry to hear. Try to relax, it might take a day or two for the medicines to start working and give you relief. Sending prayers your way.

    How Do You Priorities?

I struggle with some of the same things, but I am coming to realize (at age 40), that if I take care of myself these other things all fall into place. After the investment of time, energy and money we have put into VSG, it makes sense to protect that investment by taking the time to eat right and keep our strength up. I may be flamed by this comment, but start by getting the nutrition right, you can add exercise later.

    Really?

WOW, that sounds fabulous! Congrats for your 50 pound loss.

    Advice And Encouragement

I felt semi-normal on day 6, and a lot better by two weeks post op. I am now 7 weeks post op and I feel great. You'll get there! Try to relax and not to speed things along. Stay the course!
  19. Mama, I am so happy for you! It is time to start living!
  20. Felicity, have you tried the unjury chicken broth? It tastes great and at least it isn't sweet.
  21. jdhenin, were you the one who posted about needing to change her jammies after a fart? I read that story when I was recovering from surgery and I laughed so hard I felt like I had split my stitches. Doesn't matter who you are, farts are funny!

    Slow Loser

That's an average of 6.5 pounds per week. Sounds good to me.
  23. hope2Bfitand40

    Is It Normal...?

I felt the same way. My back hurt for nearly a month, I think I was overcompensating with my back for babying my abdomen.

    Leaks

Oh my goodness, you are not even a week post op! You could certainly ask for more pain meds. I took mine for about 10 days. (not around the clock, but twice a day after the first 6 days)

    Leaks

Britt, did you have a hernia repaired? I did, and I had pain longer than what people on here report.
