kristinc1985 replied to Lizzytish11's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats!!!!! I was so nervous before surgery... But it's so much easier than it seems. I'm sure you'll do great! -

Thought i knew what i wanted...
kristinc1985 replied to Megbd's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
For me, I didn't want to be cut up. I saw two different surgeons. The first one I saw was insistent on the sleeve. The 2ND one let me choose. The thought of being cut and having organs rerouted scares me. How will I know if staples come out? If I have a leak? If I'm bleeding internally? Scary stuff.... -
band vs sleeve - how did you decide?

I'm so glad I could help. You can do this. Have faith!!! <3

I'd be getting a second opinion.. The color of the vomiting seems scary. I agree that it's got to be a red flag for something else going on....

Non painful band slip?
kristinc1985 replied to texas-bandette's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I think you're alright. Sometimes my band fluctuates in tightness. A lot of things can effect it. Ultimately what I'm saying is sometimes I can eat more than usual. It happens. -

I know the feeling. I was a 28 and now I'm a 16/17. Totally liberating! Congrats on your successes. -

What brand of protein drink/powder do you use?
kristinc1985 replied to hockeywife91's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I like Jay Robb protein. One of my favorite blender recipes is vanilla protein with a cup of trop 50 oj, ice, some torani sugar free orange syrup, and a tsp of dry orange sugar free jello. Yum, yum! -
It's good to break the addiction. I found that breaking the addiction and habit was the hardest part. I drink more water and teas now. Because I was able to break the cycle, I'm able to drink the occasional soda and enjoy it now with no remorse. But it's not a complete part of my life anymore.

I still eat fast food now and again. I'm a huge believer in everything in moderation. I'm pretty successful with my band. So I'm not going to deprive myself of old favorites, but I won't push it either. For instance, if I'm craving taco bell, I get a basic (not loaded up) hard taco. And I eat only what I can. I'm okay with throwing away leftovers. That helps a lot. Like I said though, moderation. And you're okay!

Congrats! I'm sure that's an awesome feeling!!!!

I've never had that issue.... I love refried beans... Tons of protein! I'm sorry you're all gassy. Try some gas x?

True facts!! A good reminder, indeed.

You've probably gone ahead and gotten banded. But I do want to chime in and say that I totally know where you're coming from. I was terrified before I got my band, for the same reasons. I decided to give in to faith and do it, praying everything would work out. My desire to be healthy outweighed my desire to be obese. I guess you'll say at that point, I'd do anything. I want to vouch for what everyone else has said. Issues with the band seem to be few and far between, or caused by those with no control. Or underlying issues they haven't corrected (continuing to binge, etc). Do not be scared. Go into it, and be passionate. Work your journey, never allowing yourself to fail. You deserve it!!!

LAPBAND DIDN'T WORK FOR ME
kristinc1985 replied to pstevens9@cogeco.ca's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This may be a harsh opinion, but it is mine. Unless something is physically wrong with either you, our your band... The only thing responsible for failure is YOU. I see a lot of you bitching about how your dietician our surgeon didn't give you good advice, or the advice you wanted. Who cares????? You need to be proactive. Go to a library. Read some books. Order some off Amazon (there's TONS out there about WLS). Actually make your surgery and learning a passion. DON'T rely on anyone else. The only person who controls their success with the band is the person operating it. Everyone knows it's not a miracle cure. Plan your work, work your plan!!!! -
Hey everyone! I've recently started doing pole fitness as exercise. Thing is, I have basically no upper body strength. And to do this awesomely, I need to build some. I have a gym membership and I lift weights. But I'm looking for something new to try. Any suggestions?

Thanks ladies. I'll do that. Push ups have always been my sworn enemy. But I'm definitely going to start. I think they'll help tremendously!!!

That's hilarious Creekwood. you go! Lol -
Hillbilly lapband!!! That's hilarious. Lol. I've never tried them myself.... They seem to be getting really popular though.
-
I do all sorts of exercises.... Gym, cardio, zumba, pole fitness, etc. you'll be okay! Just listen to your body if you're nervous.
-
That sounds amazing! Congrats!
-
I go to planet fitness. There's no kids since there's no daycare program... It's a pretty nicely set up gym and it's cheap, so that's a good thing.
-
Awesome!! Please do. I'd love tips and pointers!
