Weight Watchers
kristinc1985 replied to dream_small2013's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got pushed through almost immediately because I showed my insurance weight watchers records. It was like one day: here's our office... Your surgery is next week. LOL They never asked persay. I just presented it and my 6 month diet phase was bypassed. -
Yes to the prepackaged sugar free jello squares from Kroger!!!!! I lived on those! Lol

Walking really helps... Do that as much as is comfortable.

will my brain ever catch up?
kristinc1985 replied to kristinc1985's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I am so glad I'm not alone.. Haha. I wonder when my head is finally going to catch up? I still instinctively want to go to the plus sized section as well. Then I am like, "oh, yeahhhhh". LOL. It is pretty awesome being able to shop in the regular part of the store though. I don't think I've ever in my adult life been able to stroll into a place like Meijer and just pull any old pair of pajamas off the rack. I'd be looking for 3-4x's and failing because you'll only find one of those sizes out of every 20-30 pairs it seems like. I am so happy for my new life. It's just weird adjusting still. In my head I'm still a fat girl! -
I have always wanted to parachute... I am a big chicken though!!! Congrats!!

I'm not gonna lie...I'm so embarrassed...but I'm not gonna lie.

Glad you're feeling a little better. I gather from the liquid prozac mention that you struggle with depression or other issues generally. I do too, I have severe bipolar disorder. I understand feeling those pits of despair and not being able to crawl back up, hehe. But what you've got to do- and the only thing I can do to keep myself afloat most days is learn to rationalize with yourself. Don't go expecting these huge results overnight. Will you teeter totter on the scale? Abso-freaking-lutely. There have been times in my weight loss journey where I'd lose a pound. Gain two. Lose a pound. Gain two. Lose 5. Teeter tottering is SO normal. Remember there are tons of different things that can make you teeter between 1-2 (maybe 3-4 pounds) regularly. Water weight, that time of the month, that time of the day, what you ate last... the list is gigantic. Here's what you need to rationalize about though.... As long as you're not gaining more than 5 pounds (in my opinion 5 is ideal) and you're typically maintaining or losing, you're doing AWESOME. Don't beat yourself up. Makes things a million times worse. The donut sticks won't help, either. Much love, and good luck! -
Pain after surgery
kristinc1985 replied to Laurie8855's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a c-section six years before my band. Not sure if it had to do with my level of pain or not. I also had my gallbladder removed about ten years before my band surgery. I actually think having those 2 stomach surgeries prior helped me prepare for the pain of my banding. I don't recall it being very painful, but I certainly did live on liquid vicodin for about a week. Hehe. Not sure if it was for pain or fun. (Or both?) I was pretty clouded. I can say that a year later my port is tender still from time to time. Usually only if I've done something really strenuous. Don't worry though, if you're in pain now, it will all go away soon. Chin up! -
Prayers to no surgery... Let us know what happens..

Totally agree. People can make whatever choices they want, because as stated above the only person they're cheating is themselves. HOWEVER- when a person makes bad choices back to back, constantly over a period of time, then wonders why their band has slipped, they haven't lost weight, or they're getting even worse complications... That annoys me. Really bad. I want to scream, "Helllooooo, wake up!" LOL (Not to say everyone who has a slip misbehaves. I know freak accidents happen.)

Would You Have Weight Loss Surgery Again?
kristinc1985 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yes, I would 100% do it again. I am a year out and have not had any complications at all, only wonderful results. -
Soon & scared! Advice, comfort?
kristinc1985 replied to ElleGene's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're going to be just fine!! I have bipolar disorder and severe anxiety, so I was a mess before surgery. They were even giving me drugs to calm my nerves before I got wheeled back... Lol. You're going to do great! Just breathe! :) -
See you on the other side. :)

Gallbladder and lapband surgeries
kristinc1985 replied to buckeyegirl4's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with mis73 as well. I had my gallbladder removed ten years before surgery. I avoided only greasy or heavily processed foods afterward as they ravaged my stomach and gave me IBS. so I generally stuck to bland foods.. (cereal, bread, etc). I was just fine. Had I have stopped eating all the things you highlighted, I'd have stopped eating period. Lol. -
Good luck! Congrats!!

I was just like you before I got my band. Countless efforts, all inevitably failed. Sucks, doesn't it? When they say they're reviewing your case, they aren't looking for the perfect patient. They're just getting to know you and your health history. If your insurance covers it, you'll be able to get it. Everyone has given you some pretty good advice. Congrats on looking into surgery. It seems weird and different, sometimes scary... But once you do it, I don't think you'll be sorry!! Good luck!

Getting closer
kristinc1985 replied to Hopeful.In.NY❤'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I felt confused and scared for months before surgery. I wanted it so badly, but it was also a major source of anxiety. Pretty crazy mix. You'll be okay... We all go through it.... -

3months banded no weight loss?
kristinc1985 replied to sevenb7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, I probably should've added that, they're right. Keep protein where it needs to be. That should be your #1! -
Band hell sucked so badly. I hatred every second of that. But know that it won't last long. Keep the FOCUS during this time. All good things come to those who wait.
