My NUT told me to stay away from wendys chilli because of the high sodium content. A small chilli is almost 1,000 mg of sodium.

Last week I went to my surgeons office an was disappointed to find out all my test results weren't sent to his office yet. He then scheduled me two weeks later (5/10/12) to come in and then we would submit to insurance. I was so bummed (and even wrote a mini rant on here last week lol). Then this morning I come home from work ( I work overnights) and I get a call from unfamilar number that wasnt stored in my phone but looked somewhat familair . I didnt want to answer but I did because I was so tired and was so close to lala land.I did answer. It was my doctor telling me I was APPROVED for surgery!!!!!!!!!! I almost dropped the phone in disbelief!! He submitted it to insurance after all (on 4/26) and got the call today that I was approved. What a fast turnaround time!! After I hung up I started dancing around my room. All that huffing and puffing last week for nothing!! Im happy he did submit without me knowing because now I wont have to go through the stressful waiting period. I go in on friday to get my date and my protein shakes to start my two week fast. Im so happy and excited now. Thank you bcbs.

So the month of April has been a busy one. I got ALL my pre-op tests done. I was so excited to see my surgeon on Thursday because I thought we would be submitting to insurance.....WRONG. He hasnt recieved all the test results back to his office yet. Even though I passed each test (Psych eval, PT, ect) he said sometimes it takes a little longer to recieve. I was so upset. I had everything done at HIS hosptial so sending the results wouldnt take extra time.He told me to come back in two weeks. *sighs* A part of me knows I shouldnt be so upset because this is going fairly quickly. Another part of me is upset because Ive been overly stressing about the insurance part of this surgery. Now these extra 2 weeks just gives me more time to think about the "what-ifs". I just hope in two weeks the results will be there. Should I call in a week and see what progress has been made? I would hate to travel all the way back to the office just to be told to come back (and not to mention pay another copay again for nothing) .I dont want his office to think im imaptient though *sighs* :-/

Congrats!!!! Wow too much protein?? Ive never heard that on here.lol. Keep up the good work!! -
I was in your same boat a week ago. All I can say is RELAX .It wasnt as bad as I thought it was going to be. I was reading so many horror stories about the the eval and mine was NOTHING like that!! As long a you're yourself and honest you'll be fine. The dr will ask about your past life growing up,future goals, family history, current stressors (work, children, school ect) Goodluck

Mine was $85 and Im in the process of trying to get reimbursed. I'm still unclear of why my insurance didn't cover it from the beginning because it was an in-network provider. Anyways, It was only 20 mins and she asked maybe 5 questions.
-
Im also preop but my NUT said if I get my 80g of protein and keep my iron levels up I should be ok. She said her patients have had minimal hair loss.

Whew ....*wipes sweat off my forehead* After a long month filled with so many doctor appointments, I am done!!! I see my surgeon on Thursday and hopefully we can submit everything to insurance. BUT...there's always a but....I was forced to take a sleep apnea test last week and it can take up to two weeks for the results. Now my bmi is over 40 so I dont necessarily need the results to get a surgery date/submit it to insurance do I?? I'm so anxious but I guess I in comparison to some people's journey, I am getting things done pretty quickly. My 25th birthday is in July so I was hoping to have it done by then bc I would hate to b on my liquid op diet or in the hosp the week of my bday. But if it should fall that way, Ill still be thankful.

I was so scared of my psyc eval for some reason. I was watching youtube videos of how others eval went and it had me more nervous than ever!! I even had a nightmare the night before my appt and in the dream she failed me and the hospital locked the doors right infront me I had my appointment on 4/19 and it was totally not what I expected!! She was so nice. We had a convo like two old friends catching up. I felt as ease with her few questions and before I knew it our session was over. She approved me and invited me to her support group shes hosting on 2/23. On another note...Hopefully things get better with your sister and husband.

Call Me Dumb...but...
madisonPA replied to Sandra_Baby87's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
www.unjury.com is a good website .They have unflavored Protein which is good to mix in other things. They also have a chicken broth that has alot of protein. Most store brought broths are low in protein and high in sodium.. My NUT told me a patient should only have 1500mg max a day of sodium.....Now with that being said the unjury broth has 850mg of sodium. So the plan I will follow is Breakfast is 1 shake(50mg of soduim). Lunch:Same shake. Dinner:The broth(so I can actually feel like im eating a dinner.lol). That only totals 950mg of sodium and 340 calories. (Sidenote: The protein I tried was from http://www.tryabouttime.com/ .They have birthday cake flavored shakes (yum!!). They have many more flavors which u can buy sample packs so you wont waste $$.Plus free shipping for trying samples.) -
Congrats!!!!! Take plenty before pics

*Hmmm* Where do I start?? (FYI:This is my 1st blog *nervous* lol) WLS siminar 3/5/12 I joined this website about a month ago after my first consult with my surgeon. On 3/29/12 I was so hyped to finally get the ball rolling because I am so excited to start my new life!! When he asked what surgery I was interested in I was so proud to say the lapband because I watched alot of youtube videos and joined the lapband website and was so set on that. Then he suggested that I should look into the sleeve. I was so shocked because I wasnt expecting that suggestion. So he told me I had a long ways until I had to make a final decision. He didnt pressure me whatsoever,He just wanted to me to look at this other option. So I went home and started to do more resarch on this sleeve. Fast forward to today....I WANT THIS SLEEVE SO BADLY!!!!!! lol.Im so happy he opened up this idea of the sleeve.I never looked too much into the negatives of the band. Im also looking into the negatives of the sleeve.Yes Im worried about leaks. Yes I am still a little nervous that 85% will be cut off but the longevity in the success of the sleeve has overpowred the worries that I have..I cant deal with the band with all the fills/unfills.And because im 24 he said in my lifetime Im going to have to get the band replaced( For exapmle if I had implants. The silocone has to be replaced). I dont want to have to deal with that down the road.Plus what if my insurance 20yrs down the line doesnt cover it??Ill b so screwed. I hope to only have to go under the knife once. Whats left to be done This month has been jammmed packed with so many appointments!! I have labs and my psyc eval tom and hopefully thatll be it. On Monday I had a sleep test done but of course they said itll take two weeks to find out if I have it. Hopefully I dont havr it.Plus thatll delay the surgery too. :-/ .Im really hoping to be sleeved by june bc I have a bday in july and would hate to have to spend it in the hosp or on a liquid diet .But if it happens that way so be it. Getting super prepared Omgee Ive been so hype abt preparing for this surgery.I havent even submitted it to my insurance yet.lol.I brought the wls cookbook for dummies.Ive been buying sample packs of differnt kinds of protien shakes/broths. I brought weights,a sauna suit,n a pair size 6 jeans I hope to wear one day.lol.Im just losing patience until I get this date.lol Ok lemme wrap this up.lol....It feels good to finally get enough courage to write a blog on this site. Now im ready to make friends, comment on other blogs, the whole 9.lol. Thanks for reading guys.

Finally after what has been seeming like years.....I have my first consult this afternoon. .Im sort of nervous but Im so ready to start this process. After reading most pple blogs/profiles its seems as if the whole process takes about 6 months (for people who didnt need the 6mos diet requirement) .I am beyond ready. I have a million questions for this surgeon so hopefully Im his last patient for the day.lol. I have my fingers crossed and wishing for the best.
-
Thanks .....I hope to get a speedy date as well.I work nights and weekends so I can always get the earliest dates for all my appointments. Congrats on your weightloss so far.

Congrats!!! I have one question....How many parts is there to the psyc eval???

This is my first blog...on any wesbite...so please bare with me.lol I went to a seminar on Monday 3/5/12 and now I want this surgery more than ever.Ive been overweight my entire life and have tried many things.Im ready to work on my body image more than every because I finally finished school and I've landed a good job with great benefits. Now that I have that stress out of my life Im ready to tackle this weight.I know this will be a longggggg process to get everything together but Im ready to make this change. However, I feel like I have a few roadblocks preventing my from laying on that surgery table in a few months. 1.My bmi -My bmi fluctuates between 39-41 every few weeks.I dont have high bp or diabetes. I used to have asthma when I was younger but I haven't had an inhaler in years. My bf thinks I have sleep apnea because of my sleep pattern. I'm afraid if they do do a sleep test and it proves that I don't have it it will lessen my chance of being approved.I don't want to be forced to gain more weight just so I can stay over that 40bmi mark to have no comorbidites as a necessity to be approved. 2.History of weightloss -Ive been a member of the gym for the past 2 years and its easy to verify that(automatic checking deductions). But how can I prove that I been trying other things bc its been so long ago. I cant find reciepts of when I brought slimquick and all those other diets a year and so ago. Do I show him pictures? Do I bring in empty bottles of stuff that Ive taken in the last 6 mos?? How do I know that I have enough proof?? 3.Primary Care physcian -Ive had abt 4 different pcps over the last few years bc it was only recently that I finished school and was able to start working fulltime again and have benefits. I have a brand new pcp that I just made an appt with. Will the barriatric dr not approve me bc I havent been consistant with a pcp bc of my lapse in insurance? I get so upset thinking about all the what-ifs that comes along with this process. My 1st consult isnt until the 29th which seems forever away so Im left with all these thoughts about being rejected. Its so hard to stay positive because I really feel like this is my last chance and if I get denied I dont know what to do. *sighs*
-
So my first consult isnt until the 29th. Ughhhhh.March is going so unbelievebly slow. But in the meanwhile Ive really been focusing on what my workout regime is going to be/What areas I really need to work on. I know this sounds weird, but one of the things im looking forward to when I finally start to lose weight is actually having noticeble clavicals. Yes clavicals.Ive always been obsessed with Tyra Banks' clavicals. Theyre so defined and nice. Ive always been overweight and top heavy so Ive never had defined ones.(Not even when I was 6!! lol smh).I know there arent any actual exercises to get them (lol) but I just need to do hell of alot of cardio to melt this fat away. Pretty random but thats whats on my mind as of now......Do/did any of u guys have any weird want(s) after yall lose/lost weight??
-
Thanks Karla. This puts me a bit more at ease...... Congrats on your surgery Thanks Otter. What a great idea to go to my gyno....You are so right@business/making money.I think im starting to feel more positive.
