Pain Mid Abdomen
babycakes86 replied to lilbit182004's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it might be that ur eating to quickly and missing that * feeling satisfied * sign and going right to being over full. when i just got my band.. i would often feel that pressue in my chest high abdomen area.. i think.. its just that heaviness resting on the band puttin pressure on the pouch.. then as the food starts working its way down out of the pouch.. down into the stomach cavity... u start feeling the relief. ( the 15 mins later feeling) my advice... eat slower.. stopping every now and then..to see if ur still hungry.. or if u just want to finish the plate. -
how do u feel today hun?

Question For The Girls
babycakes86 replied to xxoxoheatheroxox's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
mine was came the same day.. i was told that the blood thinner given prior to surgery causes it to come earlier than expected -
totally normal. the breathing tube that was in ur throat during surgery causes this.. it will go away in a few days.

im told we're not supposed to use straws since it causes you to swallow to much air.. on my liquid diet i was allowed to have broth based soups.. with the Pasta and chicken and whole nine.. for lunch i mostly had the progresso low sodium soups.. i was also allowed to have half a piece of fruit.. such as an apple or banana as a snack. the liquid diet is meant to allow ur liver to shrink as ur liver in infront of ur stomach, shrinking it makes it easier for the surgeon to go around it... and allows better healing.

lol.. i said that.. no more frikin shakes.. after i cud have mushies.. and now im 4 mths out and have cravings for shakes. lol funny aint it? as for the pain the night of sugery i was fine and dandy.. i even remember walking and being up and awake and alert.. day 3? another story... o the pain the pain the pain.. it was the one day i regret having surgery.. never did before... never have since then.... it will pass... about the cheeseburger.. dont try it again.. lol you dont wanna hurt urself more than ur helping urself.. uve come this far... bear it for a tiny bit longer..

amp up the portein shakes with some oats.. ( not a whole lot) and fruits. my ultimate shake when i was on liquids.. consisted of blue berries, Protein powder, 2 teaspoons of oats, 3 oz of yogurt blended together in either crystal light, Vitamin Water zero, or low calorie gatorade. it doesnt taste liek a Protein Shake since it has the fruity flavour and i loved it.. because it snt just water.. it helps keep u fuller for longer. others things u can use are rasp berries straw berries, half a banana, carrots, black berries, low calories penut butter, really anything u like.. and blend..

Doing Something Wrong?
babycakes86 replied to vickisgrey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ur not doing anything wrong at all. ur full all the time cause ur still swollen. give urself time and u will see how hungry u feel in a few days when the swelling goes down. stick with the shakes and give urself lots of water to keep hydrated and maintain ur nutrition.. but ur not doing anything wrong at all.. what ur feeling is perfectly normal. -
i cudnt have said this better.. i recently went to a bbq and knowing that i wanted to eat.. and treat myself.. i did liquids the day of and the day after.. to balance myself and to eat without remorse or guilt. awesome advice the other thing i will say is that everything that u cud have eaten before u can find low calorie fat free diet sugar free soemthing... there is a substitute for everything. while i still try to consume and little substitutes as possible.. i still treat myself every once in a while.. i have low cal no sugar ice cream bars every once in a while ( but i have quarter of a bar..) not enuff to kill my calorie count, but enuff to satisfy the craving. i have a spoons ful of mashed potatoes if i want.. not loaded with butter and cheese though.. its all abt control the other thing i will say is that u have to give into the cravings,... u have to treat urself ... not always but soemtimes.. the one reason why alot of diets fail is because ppl feel to restrictied.. to deprived of things they want know and love.. whats life worth if u feel deprieved all the time? yes we want to loose weight but at the same time we want to b happy.. dont deprive urself.. dont restrict urself so much that all u do is think abt .. cookies.. once some one told me.. have a piece of chocolate. have a nice expensive piece, not the cheap grocery store kind.. and ud see that it fulfills that craving better.. with a smaller piece and less calories and junk.... .. try it.

try a protein shake.. and blend in some fruit ( half a banana, half an apple, blueberries, rspberries, strawberries) its a lil bit thicker and may help.

yes. plain and simple.. im not going to lie to you.. yes it is. its not a piece of cake ( no pun intended) but you will get thru it, 10 lbs is exactly how much i lost on my liquid diet. dont be worried at all. so heres what i had on my liquids.. in the am .. i had a Protein shake............... 8 am then i had a Jello or yogurt.. maybe a pudding cup ............... 10 am then for lunch i always had Soup.. broth based. ............12 noon followed by another jello yogurt or pudding cup ( sometimes a piece of fruit, half an apple or banana)....... 2 pm Protein Shake......... 5 pm prtein shake with yogurt and a lilttle bit of oats. ..............7.30 pm broth.... 9 pm.. ( if i was up and hungry) i was allowed by my doc to have a small piece of fruit on my liquid diet.. and my soup had to be broth based and i cud have noodles in there so i often had the low sodium progresso or i would make my own at home. i ate very often sine the portions were not to big.. and liquid of course doesnt keep you satisfied for very long. sometimes i had two yogurt.. i bought the pre made low fat no sugar ones.. which were 5 calories each.. and to treat myself i made a prtein shake with blueberries, yogurt, crystal light ( fruit punch flavour) and Protein powder at nights after the gym. its really yummy. again i wont lie to you the liquid diet is difficult... but .. the end result is worth it. keep focused and keep eating throughout the day. you will find that warm liquids create a sense of fulllness better than cold ones. drinking a cup or coffee in the morning wud help.. ( i dont drink coffee though.. sometimes i had a warm 4 oz of milk) and at night my broth wud be very hot and scallions wud give it a nice aroma/ taste.

Less Than 24 Hours I Will Be Banded!!
babycakes86 replied to hopingtobebandedsoon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
jc thankful has given you some sound advice. is tarted becoming frustrated cause every day i would step on teh scal and for the first 6 weeks i lost maybe.. 3 lbs.. i thought this wasnt working.. this is not great.. something is wrong.. allow you body the time to heal properly and dotn focus on weightloss. they gave me ice chips when i woke up.. liek jc thankful mentioned.. whatever liquid ur allowed to haave .. make sure ur utilizing it to keep hydrated. i had a nasty taste in my mouth.. ecck.. ignore it if you do and crunch away on the chips. buy some ice.. you know the italian ices.. sugar free of course.. for the days after sugery. it was very soothing going down. good luck with everything.. -
Curious...what Could You Eat Before Compared To After The Lapband?
babycakes86 replied to alex77709's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i cud have binged all day... every day.. and be comfortable... after being banded.. i think it honestly depends on what i eat.. um like if i eat yogurt.. imma be hungry in 2 hrs.. ( and by yogurt i mean 6 oz) if i eat 6 oz of beef.. i would more than likely be full for a good 6 or 7 hrs. my meals are pretty much abt 6 to 8 oz of anything on any given day. -
so i had recently switched jobs which required me to sit all day every day.. for ten hours a day i sat to do my job, then i sat another 1.5 hrs on my commute every day .. walking.. for me was from the car to my desk.. and from my desk to the car.. needless to say.. i gained 30 lbs.. on top of the 307 i already weighed. when i decided to be banded i knew id run into the same problem u are .. i started the gym at the same time i started my liquid diet as well.. which is right where ur at. my suggestion.. from my experience.. walk on the treadmill.. at your own pace for ur own time. i stareted of at 1.5 miles an hour.. seriously.. i was a bit embarassed but it was what i cud do. ive since advance to the elliptical.. running at 7 or 8 miles an hour for 3 miles straight. challenge urself and you will realize ur always goin to want to do more. not having energy .. i get that to.. i think what helped me.. is having my bf with me.. ( granted m y by weighs 110 lbs) but he encouraged me so much and went to the gym with me.. walked with me and was like my wn cheering party. find a friend.. and buddy up.. u will need the support when the creavings attack and those down days come.. trust me u will. there is also gatorade... the diet ones of course.. mio ( with energy) and other drinks you can buy low calorie low sugar.. blastingw ith energy. my initial approach to excersing was.. to not excersie. i walked. and wen i got tierd and bored of walkin.. i started using machines at the gym.. moving to the elliptical.. and so forth. dont go trying to be a super person and excersieof the bat... ud get tierd frustrated and achy.. start of slow.. mellow and AT UR OWN PACE. and move up from there.. its what i did.. i started at 337... im now down to 283. and very proud of myself. idk if it helps any .. but good luck,
