Scared!
CamarilloCA replied to Heather Meislohn-Applegate's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the lap band to sleeve revision also, and it will be so great for you as it has been for me. There is nothing that I can't tolerate whereas I couldn't eat so many things with the band. With the band, I couldn't eat bread, salad, eggs, shrimp, and on and on. I think it is rare to have an intolerance to a food with the sleeve. I just had the surgery seven weeks ago and am losing about 2.4 pounds a week. You will probably lose 20 pounds the first month and 10 pounds every month after. I'm happy for you! You are doing the best thing for yourself. -
March And April Sleevers How Are You Doing? What Are You Really Eating? (Confessions)
CamarilloCA replied to Anewlifeforme23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeved 4/3 and stalled. Trying to bump up my exercise now. I'm eating even less now than I was when I was losing. -
Got My Hospital Bill Today Revision Surgery $93,981.28
CamarilloCA replied to CamarilloCA's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
That's terrible, 4A. I would definitely go to the billing department and tell them that you can't possibly pay that $14K and ask them what they can do about that. When I was younger and didn't have health insurance, I had a hospital bill for an emergency room visit and a one-night stay that I couldn't possibly pay. They were jerks and wouldn't reduce their price, but they couldn't damage my credit rating or send it to collections as long as I paid something every month. I ended up paying them $50 a month for five years. Good luck to you. You may even want to get a free consultation from an attorney if you can find that. -
Hi Liz, I just sent you a response to your message, and I hope you got it. I just wanted to add that I have Kaiser Insurance too, and they will actually cover Lap Band, Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy, and Gastric Bypass; however, they are not recommending Lap Bands for the barriatric patients anymore due to so many problems which have occurred. I just had revision surgery and had my lap band removed and a vertical sleeve put in. Dr. Billy was my surgeon for both, and he is so wonderful!

We just got some of this today in five different flavors. Has anyone here tried it before? It seems almost too good to be true: low in calories, high in Protein. Some call it a frozen Protein shake. Here are some links about it: http://www.myarcticzero.com/ http://www.thenutrit...itional-review/ http://www.hungry-gi...ind-arctic-zero Well, it's not exactly high in protein, but it has some protein in it at around 3.4 grams and no fat.

We've been making milkshakes at night for a dessert with these. We add milk and splenda and more protein powder, and it is a low calorie delicious milk shake.

Has Anyone Tried Isopure Protein Water
CamarilloCA replied to dianac29045's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also referred to as Isopuke. It's terrible. I cannot tolerate it. It's the aftertaste which is like vomit. Save your money. -
Thanks for the replies. I tried the vanilla Maple and chocolate Peanut Butter last night. I thought it was pretty good actually but not sweet enough for me. It might be good however, if you put it in the blender and added Splenda and made it into a milk shake. The 3.4 grams of Protein is per serving, and there are four servings in a container, and so it would have 13.6 plus the milk protein if you made it into a milkshake. You could also then refreeze it and make it into popsicles. I bet making your own ice cream is delicious, Lauranbob. I would love your receipe if you have the time. Please do let me know how it goes, Pookeyism. That sounds great.

What Week Were You Able To Eat Normal Food?
CamarilloCA replied to B~Happy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My plan is this: Day of surgery and day after: clear liquids Day 2 through Day 10: full liquids Day 11 through Day 20: soft foods Day 21 through Day 30: add seafood Four weeks post-op: add cold Cereal Eight weeks post-op: add Pasta, vegetables, and fruit I used this as a general guideline, but I pretty much ate whatever I wanted at four weeks out while at the same time limiting carbs, eating Protein first, and staying away from sugar. Sugar is the enemy as far as I'm concerned. It will awaken my inner monster, and so I avoid it. Speaking of avoiding sugar and eating protein first, hubby discovered a wonderful product that is low in calories and high in protein. We just got a bunch in the mail. It's called Artic Zero: http://www.myarcticzero.com/ I'll probably start a new thread to see if anyone has tried this. -
How Long Do U Have To Take Anti Acid Medication?
CamarilloCA replied to nixi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's GERD all right. Try prescription strength Prilosec or prescription strength Pepcid or Prevacid. Also try to eliminate food in your diet that could be contributing to the acid like orange juice, coffee, and chocolate. -
Capacity At 2 Weeks Post Op
CamarilloCA replied to ChristinaRose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ate about 8 ounces of pork and Beans in my second week, which was my mushies week -- well starting Day 11. I was really hungry then after being on liquids for so long. I do think that was too much for me. I think you can probably eat more of soft foods than later when you get to denser foods. It doesn't seem like what you had was too much. As you progress to other foods, I think you will know when you have overdone it. Just one extra bite can be painful. You'll figure it out, I'm sure. -

4.5 Months And 75Lbs Down
CamarilloCA replied to Irishqwn5's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I would love to hear what you eat on a daily basis and how you exercise. Congrats! -
I had steak in week four, and it went down fine. As others said, slice it super thin, chew well, and try to opt for tenderloin.
-
I've been on it for about six weeks, and I just asked my doctor if I could increase the dosage from one pill a day to two due to a acid stomach at night. He said that I could and that I should stay away from foods that cause more acid to occur such as orange juice and chocolate. I don't think we'll have to be on it forever, but I've seen sleevers who had to take it for six months or so.

March And April Sleevers How Are You Doing? What Are You Really Eating? (Confessions)
CamarilloCA replied to Anewlifeforme23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 4/3 and am down 22 pounds. Recently, the scale either doesn't move at all or moves very slowly; so I think I am in a stall. I have a Protein shake for Breakfast, a stick of string cheese rolled up in a slice of turkey for lunch, and fish or filet minion or some other lean protein for dinner. For a couple of nights, I had some organic ground beef and cheese, like a cheeseburger without the bread, but it wasn't that lean. I also had a Chalupa one night from Taco Bell and was able to eat all of it surprisingly. For dessert, I was having a few small pieces of the dark chocolate covered goji raspberry fruit, which was around 100 calories, but I stopped doing that because I am still having problems with acid, especially at night, and my doctor said chocolate can contribute to acid build up. I was also having coffee with 1% or 2% milk and a tablespoon of Coffeemate Flavored Creamer, but I decided that it really is too many calories for my weight loss program so I'm going to lay off of those until mainenance. It doesn't really taste that good to me anymore anyway, which is weird since I used to be totally addicted to my coffee in the morning. -
I'm 5th week too. Here's about what I eat; although, I'm thinking of switching my coffee to tea because it is a lot of calories with the 2% milk and creamer. From my food diary at MyFitness: Breakfast Coffeemate - French Vanilla-liquid, 2 tbsp Coffee - Brewed, espresso, 8 Fluid ounce Horizon Organic Milk Plus Dha Omega-3 Reduced Fat 2% Milk - 2% Milk, 2 Cup Premier Nutrition - High Protein vanilla shake, 11 oz lunch Shrimp - Raw, 4 medium Dietz & Watson - Gourmet Lite Turkey Breast (Sliced Deli Meat), 1 oz. Sarputo Frigo cheese Heads - Low Moisture Part Skim Mozarilla String Cheese, 1 oz stick (28g) dinner Halibut - Fillet Baked, 3 oz (85g) Best Foods - Real Mayonaise, 1 tbl (13g) Snacks Clif Bar - Builder's Bar - chocolate Mint, 0.5 bar I should mention that fruits and vegetables aren't added in to my diet until Week 8 according to the plan that I'm on.

Running Out Of Steam During Exercise - What Is The Reason?
CamarilloCA replied to CowgirlJane's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Well, I got tired just reading about all that you do. I think you are doing great. B12 is for energy, and you may not be consuming or taking enough of it. My doctor's office recommends a shot once a month or weekly sublingual high dosage tablets. -
So Very Annoyed! Not Losing
CamarilloCA replied to kwindham's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ah, you are a lucky person. I know about all the work that must take though. It's exhausting but so rewarding. I have 24 chickens, a rooster, two dogs, a cat, and three zebra finches and zillions of hummingbirds, and their care nearly takes all my time. I'd have horses and goats and ducks and lots more if only I had more land. Your baby bunnies and goat sound so awesome. Yeah, I know exactly what you mean by the nasty after-taste. I tried Isopure and Cytomax Protein drinks and couldn't tolerate the after-taste either. The Premier Protein shakes were not bad at all. Muscle Milk is okay but too thick for me. I like the Pure Protein Bars the best, and they are 20 grams each. I'm now trying to get my protein from fish, nuts, cottage cheese, etc. I have a Clif bar in the morning, which is yummy and ten grams of protein. The Clif Builder's bar is 20 grams, but I haven't tasted that one yet, but I've heard good things about it. -
Has Anyone Had Caffeinated Coffee @ 3 Wks Out?
CamarilloCA replied to Felicity549's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a coffee addict in that my morning latte is something that I always have, and I started having it again at about three weeks out. My barriatric program strictly prohibits coffee but allows for tea. I have to say the nurses/nutritionists seemed to delight in telling everyone in our group that they couldn't have coffee and laughed at everyone's reaction. That kind of annoyed me. Anyway, I started alternating between coffee and tea in the morning because of two reasons: one, the coffee didn't taste as good to me anymore for some reason; and, two, the acid in my stomach while drinking it was really loud and was possibly upsetting my stomach. Now, I do have a lot of acid in my stomach to begin with and have to take one Prilosec every day, and I'm thinking of increasing it to two Prilosec because of the acid that I have at night, but I have to check with my doctor first. The reason that my barriatric's office nurses don't want us to drink coffee is because it is acidic, but frankly, tea is acidic too and so is orange juice, etc. There is also a possibility that I have become lactose intolerant, and so the milk in the latte might be causing a problem also; however, milk is a great source of Protein, and so I say have milk with your coffee. I have 1% or 2% organic milk. -

CamarilloCA replied to kwindham's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Totally feel you. I'm stalled too. It's frustrating, but as everyone said, keep doing what you are doing and try not to get discouraged. We'll see the scale move again soon, I'm sure. Lucky you that you live on ten acres with animals. Sounds heavenly. -
It's true that beans are a great source of protein, but you really should ask your doctor or nutritionist if you have a new sleeve because beans are hard to digest.

I had the same question and just found the answer in another thread. Here it is: "I am assuming you have a ticker setup on lilyslim.com already. Click on the link to "Get ticker code" and then look for the option that says " PseudoHTML, UBBCode and BB Code". That will open up a box that will say "Code Snippit". Copy the line of code that is there - it will start with " [ url =". Then come to the forum, click to edit your profile signature and then paste it into the box and save."

I agree that the feeling you have is excess acid in your stomach. I too take a Prilosec every morning. If you are still having a lot of acid, ask your doctor about switching to a different acid blocker. Prilosec will help reduce the production of acid, but if you need a quick acid reducer, try to chew a couple of Tums. It will get better in time.
-
I had some of that too. I think, for me, some of that was head hunger. From what I have read here on this forum in someone's post, the ghrelin in your body takes a little while to stop having affect on your hunger even after it is removed with 85% of your stomach. I don't actually know if that is a true statement or not, but I do know that my ravenous hunger went away after a few days. The gurgling is totally normal and will subside also. Keep drinking your liquids when you feel hungry and don't forget your sugar free popsicals. Have as many as you need to feel satiated.
