Hello mums, I had my surgery the same day as yours. I don't start mushies until a week from Tuesday so I don't have much info to offer, just wanted to say good luck!

Can You 'feel' Your Band?
JessRess replied to JessRess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't had a fill yet, and the band was empty when it was put in. If I'm feeling this now I can't wait to see how it feels after a fill :-P -
Can You 'feel' Your Band?
JessRess replied to JessRess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That sounds similar to what I'm experiencing. It's kind of like a painful hiccup. -

I actually haven't noticed any bruising. My incisions are feeling better & better everyday though.

Hi all, I'm on day 4. I had a bit of an emotional breakdown this morning but my mom & boyfriend pulled me through. I'm having a hard time getting liquids down. I'm having trouble with sf jello but I got some Greek yogurt down without trouble. Liquids are still difficult for me, I know I'm dehydrated and I'm trying very hard to get them down.

Eggzy, my gas pains are all but gone today. Something that seemed to help me was laying down with my legs propped up higher than my chest. I hope you start feeling better soon!

My gas pains are pretty much gone today, my surgery was Tuesday. I suggest walking & when you're laying down, prop your legs up so they're higher than your chest, that seemed to help me.

They just said clear/full liquids for two weeks, then mushies for two. I'm having trouble getting anything down though. I threw up (more like dry heaved) last night, now I'm paranoid it's going to happen again :-(

Hi all, just thought I'd throw in an update. I was doing really well until last night, I started vomiting...but nothing was coming up. Now I'm scared to drink anything but I know I need to or I'll be more dehydrated than I am now. The good news is the gas pains are pretty much gone and the soreness at my incisions is getting better and better. The worst part now is just the overall lousy dehydrated headache-yness. I hope everyone else is going well!

It's Been A While, But I'm Back, And Alive....
JessRess replied to 54Shirley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so sorry to hear about Shirley's passing. Unfortunately I haven't been a member here long enough to have gotten to know her. If anyone is in contact with her family, please pass on my condolences. -
2 Days Post Op And Miserable!
JessRess replied to christine0x0x's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Christine, I had my surgery yesterday, I feel your pain! I'm not having too much trouble with nausea, but I am also afraid I'm getting dehydrated as I can only take a small amount of liquid at a time. I still feel like I swallowed a beach ball. I hope your nausea goes away, I know that feeling is pretty miserable! -
Thanks Texas! Those 30 days will fly by! Best of luck to you!

Congratulations! I was banded yesterday as well. Can I ask you what you're 'eating' at this point?

Time For The Big Moment
JessRess replied to marielalora's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My big day was yesterday so I know what you're feeling. You'll do great! Please keep us updated! -
I am in no way doubting my surgeon - under no circumstances do I consider myself more qualified to give pre-op instructions than she is, but the more I read, the more I see people who had to go on liquid diets 1-2 weeks prior to surgery. My doctor is just having me do a low-fat diet the week before (my surgery is Tuesday). I'm paranoid that she's going to open me up and find that my liver is the size of a prize winng 4 H hog. Could you all please share your pre-op diets with me? Again, I'm not looking to change anything, I'm just curious :-)

Concerned About Pre-Op Diet...
JessRess replied to JessRess's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone! Everything is great except for the gas pains. I'm getting tired of laying on ny back... I pressed a pillow against my belly and I'm kind of on my side, which is really nice. If anyone has heard of or knows of any way to get rid of the chest/shoulder pain I'd love to hear it! -
Hello all. I was banded this morning, everything went really well. The worst pain is the gas pain in my chest, I feel like a blimp lol. I have an on Q pain pump attached to my stomach and I've been taking my liquid lortab to keep the pain at bay. I've been sipping liquids & sf hello but I'm afraid to take too much, I'm trying tovavoid having anything come back up! I hope everyone else is doing great!

Concerned About Pre-Op Diet...
JessRess replied to JessRess's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for your input everyone! My big day is tomorrow, I'm on a clear liquid diet today and then I'm off to bandster land :-) -
My surgery was scheduled for tomorrow morning, 15 hours before I'm to arrive at the hospital I get a call from my surgeons office telling me I have to reschedule for a week from tomorrow. Last week I came down with tonsillitis, pretty common for me. I called the surgeons office Wednesday to let them know. The physicians assistant told me I should make an appointment with my PCP so they can make sure its not strep and let them decide whether or not I'd be okay to keep my surgery date. I saw my PCP Thursday, ruled out strep and was told that the antibiotics should clear it up and I should to ahead with my surgery. I had a follow up with my PCP today, feeling 100% better and he told me to 'go for it.' I left a voicemail with my surgeons office telling them is be good to go. A few hours later my surgeons assistant calls to tell me she's glad I'm feeling better but that they're going to reschedule my operation anyway to be on the safe side. I realize that they are just being cautious & looking out for my health, but if they were going to disregard what my PCP was going to say in the end anyway, couldn't they have just went ahead and did it last week instead of the day before the operation?? I had been starving all day on the clear liquid diet only to have to reschedule. Now I have to move around my time off work and so does my family who wanted to be there. Gah!!! All that being said, my surgeon and her staff have truly been wonderful up until this point. Sorry for the long post, just need to rant.

Thanks Kbliss, it was definitely a letdown! Restarted the countdown, t minus 6 days!
-
I agree with both of you. The thing that irritated me is that instead of rescheduling on Wednesday when I called and told them I was sick they waited until the day before. Missed a day of work preparing for nothing. I'm still hummed but it's only a week out. I've waited a few years, I reckon I can wait another week :-)

I'm on the 17th too! My stomach just switched into butterfly mode!
