    wedding dress shopping

Speaking through personal experience, your weight will start to stabilize around the sixth month post op. I personally would wait until July to start shopping. I think your dress will be really big on you if you start shopping now. Some of the clothes I wore a few months ago look like clown clothes on me now. A wedding dress is way to expensive and important to not have the correct fit. To be honest when I went dress shopping, I was prepared to custom order a dress, however after looking at their rack of dresses that were immediately available, I found the dress I wanted off the rack. It is really hard to predict what size you will be in October, and wedding dress sizing is so crazy. Personally speaking I lost a lot the first 5 months then I have slowed down to 4 lbs a month. Good luck to you...

    Doing a happy dance

Wow... What a beautiful smile. You are gorgeous!b
  11. @ Melissa have you tried university of Chicago? They have a very well established program and excellent program. I had my sleeve by the most jr partner de prashad she is awesome!!! From what I've heard from other patients the sr partner is much more awesome, which I can't imagine, because de prashad was soo nice and good. From what I understand dr prashad is the laporscopic king. I did once work as a bariatric coordinator about 10 years ago, and even then that was the place to go to if you had problems or complications from wls. Yes it is also a center of excellence. Their process is very efficient and they have nurse practicioners that work hand in hand with you. I highly recommend them. Feel free to pm or ask any questions. Good luck to all of you... We should totally get a Chicago meet up going.

    sleeve newbie needs a buddy..

The best advice I can give is listen to your body. Your still really new post op. if you are nervous about eating and drinking, try measuring so this way you won't over so it. I'm assuming your still in liquids, it's pretty easy going while on liquids, for me the challenging part was when I needed to start on foods. Feel free to ask any other specific or general questions you have.

Had Chinese food today - never again!

Ugh... I had that experience also when I was about 2 months out. Never again. However, I can tolerate Thai food, which tends to be healthier.

    Spouses reaction 2 weight loss

I think pdx man is right on the money. I love getting compliments from people, but the ones that matter the most are those from my loved ones. When I need attention I do make it a point to let my husband know. I have no problem with letting him know that he needs to take me someplace nice so I can dress nice and sexy for him and with him. There have been a few times when my head has gotten a little big, and I just have remember while my confidence is boosted, I don't want it to be at the expense of my husband or our marriage. I'm not sure of all of the specifics of your situation, but it may be that your husband needs reassurance. Sometimes just saying it isn't enough. I wish you the best of luck.

Almost half way to goal! - Pics included

Congrats... You look great. Keep up the good work.
  17. So for Christmas I got a Nordstrom's gift card. I decided to buy a pair of knee high boots with a circumference of 15 which is what my calf measures, how ever when I got them yesterday it was a no go. I was like an inch short of getting them to fit. This sucks... I'm down about 100 lbs already and I've for 50 more to goal. Anyhow, I don't know what to do. Should I take them back? Should I keep them and hope they'll fit me one day? I don't think I can get them stretched because they have a zipper, I can prob have a shoe cobbler put elastic in at the ends, but it it worth all of that, and what if it kills the look of the boot. The boots were also $150 so that's kinda pricey to be butchering them. I really conflicted. Uggghhhh... Thanks for letting me vent guys. It's a crappy feeling because I was feeling like I came so far, and this is really got me feeling like that preop fat girl again...
  18. @ teddybear... I didn't try them on because I bought them online. I bought them from nordstroms because that's where I had the gift card. Thanks guys.. I am going to return them, and I will save the gift card to buy something when I'm closer to goal. I'm going to let this incident motivate me. I just started taking yoga, Pilates and doing c25k. So maybe that'll be my motivation to work out harder.... Going to keep my eye on the prize.

    To much artifical food?

Ultimately you have to do what works for you. I personally don't care for protein shakes and never really relied on them as a source of protein. If you want to mix it up try adding boiled eggs, I eat 2 (the egg whites only) and that is about 8g of protein and its like 50 calories total. I feel like my body responds better to natural foods. Just start sneaking them in there. Your protein amount is up there so maybe you can afford to allow more veggies a d even some fruits into your diet. Good luck.

    Insensitivity

Wow that sucks. Your coworkers/boss may think they are trying to help, but in all honesty they are just being d*cks. This is the reason I didn't tell anyone at work. Sorry you are going thru this. Remember it is your life your decision, walk with your head up, they don't understand your struggle and have no room to judge you.
