Learning How To Eat Again...
chitowngirl replied to Sassiesmiles's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery the same day. I can eat anything except raw veggies. I tend to eat a lot of shrimp, anything cooked in a crock pot works. Chili, -
You can try shrimp quesodilla, it's high protein and soft foods, I've also had shrimp fajitas, and they usually come with beans which is a mushy food. Overall my sleeve seems to love shrimp, so I'd go for anything non fried shrimp.

Help...same Food Every Day For A Week
chitowngirl replied to tmorgan813's topic in Food and Nutrition
Have you tried beans?? I lived on beans during that stage. I also did ground beef with spaghetti sauce. Have you tried egg salad? -
I had some low carb sushi that had some carrots, and cucumbers it totally did not sit well. I'm not supposed to have any raw veggies until week 6. I guess that's what I get for trying those foods before my time.

I Was In Denial For A Long Time....how About You?
chitowngirl replied to Queen of Crop's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lol... Yeah I thought the world was shrinking. I hated taking pictures, because when I looked at the picture I was forced to stare at the reality of my weight. Its funny I was in such denial, I really felt like I only had 20 pounds to loose. However reality b***h slapped me in the face, when my endocrinologist just bluntly told me I should have wls, he told me that loosing the amount of weight that I needed, in addition to my pcos was going to take me very long, and I was fighting an uphill battle. I'm grateful that I had the humility to take his advice and not to be offended. 1 month post op and loving my sleeve. -
Hungry A Week And A Half Out
chitowngirl replied to LadyIvy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, this also happened to me, my nut said to eat 5-6 small meals. I really don't have a choice, it's not like I can eat a bunch a lot anyway. -
Spouses During The Hospital Stay
chitowngirl replied to feszyk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My hospital also provided a private room for patients with a bmi over 40. I'm assuming this is a standard practice, as the beds are usually bigger. The surgical coordinator at your doctors office should know about this. -
Hospitals are usually great at setting up payment plans, so for your husbands OOP expenses they should be more than willing to help you. Same goes for your procedure. Also know that your OOP expenses are not calculated by the charges billed(higher rate) but they are Actually calculated by the negotiated rate between the hospital and insurance company. So even if your procedure is billed @ 55k your insurance company may actually only about $20k. Also be aware that your policy most likely have a OOP max for family, so check if you have a family OOP max and you will know that is the max you can billed.

To be honest seeing others pig out doesn't bother me. I had a talk with myself when on my preop diet. I had to learn that this food addiction is mine to deal with. I've choose to deal with it via vsg. If it makes you feel better, soon you will be able to eat normal foods, but just in way smaller portions.

I will keep you in my prayers. I hope you have a speedy recovery. Please keep us posted on your progress.

Feeling Much Better
chitowngirl replied to njs_star627's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes everyday it gets a bit better. Congrats and welcome to the losers bench. Take it day by day. -
I was more excited about the procedure. I didn't get nervous until I left for the hospital. When they put the iv in me I got a little shaky. But I just kept taking deep breaths, and kept reminding myself of the outcome. My procedure only took an hour. I work at a hospital, so I knew that this procedure was pretty low risk. The fact that I was in and out of the or in an hour was confirmation for me. I was is a little pain, if I had to describe it I'd say it felt like I did 1000 sit ups. I really didn't use much of the morphine drip in the hospital, I'd say I used about 1/8th of my morphine drip. They sent me home with Tylenol 3, and I only took that the first two nights so I could sleep. Other than that everyday it gets better, as far as your diet it is very trial and error, you'll have figure out what works for you as far as your protein.

Best of luck. I will keep you in my prayers. I also had my surgery in the afternoon. I will tell you this that morning was the most nerve wrecking few hours. -
Oh... That's my birthday. I'll be sure to keep you in my prayers. I'm not as young as you, I'm in my 30's. You are so lucky to be having the procedure at such a young age.

8 Days Post-Op...incision Question
chitowngirl posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, I have a question. I have four incisions from my sleeve. However the biggest incision is more painful and soar. The other three small incisions are fine and pain free. The larger incision is not healing as fast, I was just wondering if everyone else has any comments on this. I'm not sure if it's not healing because it is just a larger incision, or if there is a chance it maybe infected. The only reason I'm kind of worried is because I had school on Monday and I had to carry my bookbag around and it weighs about 20 pounds. Big mistake, trust me I won't be doing that again. -
1 Week Post Op Did Something Bad :-/
chitowngirl replied to Misstxdiva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't worry. I ate mashed potatoes in the hospital 2 days post op. my doctors releases us on mushie diet. -
Yes, learning to eat all over kinda sucks. I too have been eating too fast, now I've been waiting a minute once I stop chewing. As my problem has been pacing myself. Also be sure that your using baby spoon and forks. Being so early in the process it helps to control how much you take in.

Concerns For A Newbie...
chitowngirl replied to caseydoodle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also had a problem with this. I just discovered what works for me. First I use with baby spoon and forks, once I take a bite, I wait over a full minute until I take a full bite. So I check the clock when I finish chewing, let's say 2:23 I will until 2:25 to take another bite. -
First, yes men do loose a lot faster than women, unfortuneately it's just the way we're built. Second your weight loss is awesome, don't. Compare yourself to others. My view is that as long as your loosing, your on the right track. Keep up the good work.
