Ladies-- How Did You Keep Up With Bra Sizes?!
chitowngirl replied to vanb0052's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ugh...I'm at the stage where I desperately need to get new bras. Sports bras are great, however they're pretty much a no go to wear for work. I'm also going to check out that genie bra, I just hope it has a little padding which is a must for me because if it gets a little nippy outside I get nippy. Lol -

Well first bravo for you for recongnizing that your old habbits were showing up again. Now that you've come to terms with that it sounds like you know what you need to do. No one is perfect but the fact that you are admitting that your not is a great step in the right direction. -
Welcome to the club, remember it gets easier every day.

Haha...that sounds Awsome. Keep up the good work.

Mentoring And Nervous
chitowngirl replied to LindaS's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A good way to kick things off now, is to see if she is willing to tweak or create new sleeve friendly recipes. Suggest she start incorporating sleeve habbits now. Such as no soda, eating slow ect. Let her know what it's like and warn her that these Are new habbits that she will need to form, and the sooner she does the better. -
If it was denied because of lack of info then once they get all the info they need it shouldn't take them too long to review the request. However I was denied because my insurance felt I wasn't consistant enough with my 6 month diet and I had to redo the diet.

So I thought it would be cool to compare sizes (clothing). We always post weight progress, however as a women I tend to think well what size do you wear. So my stats are as follow: Pre op highest size: 20w (Ashley Stewart, lane Bryant) Current size: 18 (non plus size such as ny&c, Ann Taylor) 14/L in tops.

@ Lilly having my procedure was a really positive experience. It really is a first class facility. The nurses, doctors and nut were great. They really have a strong bariatric program there and would recommend it to anyone. -
A lot of doctors require psych evaluations because that is what insurance companies require. You may be able to skip that part. I have a friend who had a gastric bypass, the psychologist wanted him to have additional sessions before she would clear him. He was so anxious that he just went to Mexico and paid to have the procedure out of pocket. I feel he lost the opportunity to learn positive new coping mechanisms, as now that he is 6 years out he has gained about 70% of his weight back.

I've been to Mexico many times, and I can tell you that it is a very gay friendly country. You will have. I problems.

So...preop Diet Tanked But Lost 5 Lbs.
chitowngirl replied to Patrick Curl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm with disneyteach....post sleeve I love to watch the food channel. I know it's weird, but I've also noticed other post of a few other post sleevers who also like to watch. Also please remember it is very important to try to stick to your pre op diet. It is usually the hardest part for most people. I think it was last week a women posted that she had surgery and her doctor was unable to sleeve her because her liver was still to large. I think some of us can get side tracked in regards to the importance of the pre op diet, but a situation like that really puts things in perspective. -
Awsome. Good for you. Keep up the good work.

Congrats on the amazing weight loss and keep up the good work.

Hello my fellow Chicagoans. I had my surgery at university of Chicago, I know that a few posters have had it done at northwestern hospital. I live In the city, like literally 1 mile from downtown. I would love some workout buddies that have been sleeved even if it's only once every week or every other week. Since the weather is nice maybe we can do a walk on the Chicago lake front path, or if anyone is feeling upto it maybe we can even do a bike ride.
