I Got A "no" From My Insurance Company
chitowngirl replied to dreamnslim2012's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would call them and ask why. I got denied once and found out that I needed to do a more comprehensive 6 month diet. So I did it and I got approved the second time around. -
Omg those look so good. I'm going to try them ASAP.

I'm nine weeks post op, and I've had it a few times and no problems.

Here is a photo documentation, the day of surgery an on.

For Breakfast I usually have a boiled egg and a slice or two of bacon. lunch is usually what ever Soup they are serving at the hospital where I work. I snack on a pack of 100 calorie almonds, or pistachios. A good treat for me is Wendy's chili:)

I agree, I was lucky to have the sleeve covered by my insurance, but I was denied once and had to redo my 6 month diet, if I was not approved the second time, Mexico was my next go to option. One should not assume they know anyone's financial or emotional state of being. I'm sort that someone had the audacity to send you such a msg. However it is clear you have a personality of a leader and not a follower, I'm glad to see that you are standing up to this persons unsolicited advice. Best of luck in Mexico and wih your surgery in general. P.s. 10 years ago I had lipo done in Mexico and had no problems and would not hesitate to go back to Mexico for a procedure.

Ok, as far as vanity for hair loss I tried Xfusion which really hides thinning hair. I ordered it from amazon and it is pretty reasonable.

My pain was the equivilant of doing 1000 sit ups, not really pain but really soar. I've never had a c section, but I did deliver an 8.11 ounce baby, and let me tell you that labor was 10 times worse.

Near And Yet So Far, Then I Chickened Out And Decided No Surgery.
chitowngirl replied to AdeleRN's topic in Insurance & Financing
Adele, there is no right or wrong answer, you must do what you feel is right for yourself. Reading your story a few of the obsticals were put there because of your hesitation. Your initial instinct was to go with the center of excellence, I think that was the right decisio. The first time, but your timing may have just been off. As far as being denied, I feel you on that one sister. I was also denied and had to redo my 6month supervised diet again. It is discouraging, but if this is truly something you feel strongly about it will not deter you. I hope you find the guidance you need and I hope it comes from within, as this is your journey and only you can make this decision. Best of luck. -
Ok, I just send everyone on this list a request

I know how you feel, one thing that I've learned is that I will always have bills so I try not to stress about them. Stressing over how much I owe doesn't get them paid any faster. If you can get the rest of the $ for the surgery I say go for it, this is an investment in your self. To pay off my bills I pay the minimum in all of them, except the smallest one. This way I can get that one paid off the quickest, once I pay that off I move to the new smallest bill and repeat. This really helps me because this way I can see my list of debtors get smaller, and the smaller the list that means less money I have to pay out.

Good luck!!!

About another doctor being out of network, you should call your insurance and ask them to give you the name of a doctor that you can go for a second opinion. I was a bariatric coord as my last job, and we had a patient in a similar situation, the patient actually went to get a second opinion at a large university and they found the problem. To tell you the truth the doctor I worked for was actually relieved when he found out, he didn't care that she went else where, he was just glad that she was better. I would also report this to the hospital risk management, if your insurance is not able to do something they may be able to help you.
-
Wow..sorry you had such a troubling experience. I can say that maybe you should get a second opinion, it is your right. Also I would imagine that since you have been through soo much more than a regular sleeve patient your insides need a lot more time to heal. I hope you feel better soon.

Getting Ready For A New Beginning
chitowngirl replied to EcuaTrucho's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats on your decision to get healthy, 6 weeks on a liquid diet is going to be challenging, but you can do it. It is very important that you shrink your liver. There are people who went under the knife and have not been able to have the procedure because their liver was to big, I'm not telling you this to scare you, I'm telling you this so every time you get tempted to cheat you can think about that, and hopefully that will help you stay on track. Best of luck. -

We are always here... It maybe hard because your child is not here right now. However I challah he you to take this opportunity to do something's for yourself. Go for long walks, go get a manicure, go for a swim, go read a book at beach, ride a bike, or take this as an opportunity to catch up with your friends. Embrace your independance. Life is good, and we are blessed to have our sleeves. -
I had my first pickle @ 8 weeks post op when I was cleared for my unrestricted diet.

Could This Happen To Us?
chitowngirl replied to groovearmada's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow. It just goes to show surgery is not a cure all. I wonder if this woman had to be cleared paychiatrically before she had the surgery? It is really sad that food had such dominance in her life. -
