I work in healthcare, first the date your surgeons office submitted could have just been tentative, as many companies require a date in order review a request. As far as uhc, their c/s reps are all over the place. When I have to call them, and if I get someone whose an @ss or just sounds dumb, I hang up and call right back. So call back again today and hopefully you'll get a rep that is more helpful.

When Did You Start To Really Notice?
chitowngirl replied to aaron1976's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When my clothes were way too big for me. I am obsessed with taking pictures of my self, that seems to be a good reality check. -
I think that will be fine...

I'm down about 70 pounds. And I just realized not only was I abusing my body, but damn my poor clothes took a beating. Trying to squeeze into something that is tight as he!!, stretching shirts out, trying not to dry my jeans so they wouldn't shrink, and forget about the chub rub on my pants. I'm just now going down a size, it's not because I haven't lost enough weight, it's because I was always in denial trying to wear clothes that didn't fit properly. Needless to say I am enjoying wearing my clothes, especially now that they fit appropriately.

Surgery Is Tomorrow
chitowngirl replied to Jlewis229's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck, and a speedy recovery!!! -
You should make sure they weigh you once a month. Also I was denied my first time, because I said that I had went out to eat 2x in a month. They took that as me not being compliant with my diet, so just be sure to not say anything to sabatoge your chances.

My Hubby Keeps Eating My Food!
chitowngirl replied to kelliecalgary's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My 14 year old son always drinks my protein drinks. Which is the one thing I cringe at sharing. I buy the ready make drinks so it's $6 for 4 of them, so they dont come cheap. So I hide them, they do not have to be kept in the fridge. So before I go to bed I put one drink in the fridge and take it in the morning. As far as string cheese I just uh them for everyone. As far as yogurt I buy activia for me and buy the one with cookies for my son, his yogurt looks so much better than mine, so it works. Good luck.... -

Is This Rate Of Weight Loss Normal For A Guy?
chitowngirl replied to BizTraveller's topic in The Guys’ Room
Not a man here, but I'll chime in. Your weight loss is great, I personally lost the most weight the first 3-4 weeks post op. after that my weight loss tends to be 1.5-2 pounds a week. As far at the guy you used to work with, don't freak your self out like that, trust me we could all drive our selves crazy with what if's and could of's would of's and should of's. This is your journey and it is unique to you. That other person could have had some serious medical conditions, and his death may have had nothing to do with his weight/loss. Just be confident that you are doing all you can for your health. Good luck. -
Honestly, most of the doctors is Mexico would do it. You might get flack from some US doctors, but in Mexico, they will take you with open arms.

Last Meal The Night Before Surgery?
chitowngirl replied to made2beme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nope not for me. I was so ready for my sleeve I really didn't care about food. -
I always order tacos and just eat the insides of it. I will usually get a steak taco with onion and cilantro and avacado for some extra kick. I can usually finish 1 really small one. Pasta I may have a ravioli with meat or cheese inside, as to feel like I'm getting my protein in, but I will have this with chicken or shrimp. Pizza the super thin crust works best, but to be honest I really don't crave pizza or pasta anymore. I know my body needs protein, so I usually want things That have a good amount of protein.

Anything You Can't Tolerate Any Longer?

Hotdogs.... I also can't tolerate fried foods as well, if I do have them it has to be a very small amount. -
Should I Tell The Inlaws About My Surgery?
chitowngirl replied to soontobeskinnymini's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I wouldn't tell them. I didn't tell any of my inlaws, period. As far as my family I did tell a few after the surgery, so I'm sure it spread like wild fire. I pretty much stayed away during my preop diet and post op, until I was able to eat. -
Hmmm.. I'm gonna have to try that. I'm not a big cereal eater, however when I'm on the go, I will gran a handful of dry cereal and have that for a snack/ meal.

Why Are/were You Fat?
chitowngirl replied to Gastricsleeve4me's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wow you have a very touching story. Growing up my father was a heroin addict my whole life. My parents divorces when I was 3. I lived with my mother and my sister who is 4 years older than me. My mother is deaf and grew up in a residential school. Which in effect caused her to be very distant and emotionally disconnected. Once I was in 8th grade my mother kicked me out of the house, because she was tired of the responsibility, and it was my dads turn to deal with me. So then I went to live with my heroin addict father. Needless I was exposed to a lot of things for a teenage child. Needless to say as soon as I finished high school, thank god I had sense enough to realize that school was important, I left with the first decent guy that came my way. So I had my son at 20 years old, and then realized that I rushed into the unhealthy relationship. So I moved out on my own, and was the primary caregiver for my son. I feel that during my early 20's I got pcos, however i didn't officially get diagnosed until I was 30. I can honestly say I always felt food was the one constant in my life. I feel as my son got older I really started to analyze how I feel about him and all of the extremes I am willing to do for him, and I realize that neither of my parents every felt that amount of love for me. It made me sad, but I really didn't have time to reflect or be sad, so I ate. -
I had my surgery with Dr Prashad at university of Chicago, I'm 4 months post op my starting weight 298 I'm currently 230 so that's almost -70.

I agree tackle one task at a time. Focus on fluids, if you can't find something that works for you, if not try switching up the tempatures. Once you've mastered that, then work on protein.

Wow. You look great, and so much younger.
