  1. I've read the entire forum, and I'm not sure if I have UTI. I had a CBC done yesterday, and got a shot in the but to fight any infections, but the results came back normal. No infections at all, yet i still have lower abdominal pain. The pain usually comes and goes, more so when I eat or drink. What does the lower abdomen have to do with the band located above the stomach? As I'm typing I can feel the pain, sharp pains at the lower left area, sometimes along the belly button. I did have a problem with Water. I would drink maybe a cup or two a day. I hope I dont have a kidney stone!

    Stretched pouch? need a Fill?

I have this similar issue. I actually came online after a long time to see if anyone has the same problems. I have been feeling pains in my lower left stomach area. I had an xray of the pouch done a few months ago and it was somewhat stretched. Not by much, but enough to concern me. I believe the issue is over tightening. The entry is too small so the pouch expands to accommodate the food. Do you have stomach pains? Not like cramps, but pains.

    Houston Bandsters?

What happened to the Houston group that we created who met up in Memorial? It's like the people disappear after one visit. Would anyone like to meet up in Houston just to kick back and enjoy a nice New York Strip SteaK?:thumbup:

    Loose skin???!!?!?!?!

He's right. Isopure is one of the best shakes. The powder actually has every minimal carbs, calories, and fat and is loaded with Vitamins and minerals. You would only need this if you are not eating meats or if you are working out. Now as to lose skin.. I HATE IT! I can't wait till i finish school, then im going to do a complete transformation.. Tummy, chest, the works!!!

    18 month check in

Hi everyone! So I've hit 168 pounds! I took my mom to visit the doctor so she can also get the surgery! I enjoy playing racquetball and golf. If you haven't tried a sport like racquetball i say go for it! It is a very intense sport and you can really maintain your weight or even shed the pounds. Anyone from Houston?
  7. Hi! I had the best experience pre and post surgery. Dr. Spivak's staff members have been very supportive throughout the entire operation, and have continued to give support even after surgery. They even played a special request song prior to the operation! PM me if you have any other questions.
  8. Just a quick reminder. We should be meeting tonight at Los Tios, 281-493-4700 14006 Memorial Dr, Houston, TX, off Kirkwood and I-10. Give me a call if you are planning to come out tonight. Sorry for the late reminder. 713-292-7323

What is your cardio of choice?

I try to use the elliptical machine for about 25-30 mins. After that, I lift various weights. I try to shuffle different parts of the body. One day back and legs, or chest and arms, or shoulders. It has allowed me to define my body better, and also to see greater results. When I worked out in the past, I would gain weight, but it was due to muscle, and it discouraged me. Eventually, it lead to me gaining all the weight I had lost back again. Now, I know for a fact, through body fat monitoring, and also through the use of my friend (the band) that I am in fact gaining muscle and not fat. This has allowed me to attend the gym more often, and to see better results in my weight loss. The gym is your friend, it will never let you down.

    January Bandsters???

I DID THAT THE OTHER DAY~! I was bored at home, and began wearing all the outfits I had when I weighed about 200 (when I was skinny). THE CLOTHES FIT! For the most part, and a lot of the current clothes where to loose. It's such a good feeling to know you can control your body's weight. The best feelings are when I know I've been splurging on sweets like Jamba Juice and stuff, and you still lose weight.
  14. We need to designate a Group Leader. Someone to set dates and times.
  15. Hey everyone, How's it going? I was also banded on January 19th, 2007. My Weight loss has been decent so far, but I try to go to the gym whenever possible. I don't mind meeting with others and just talking about our banded life. I live in the galleria area.

    For Just Us Guys

I just wanted to drop in my experience so far. I started at 275 and I'm now at 228. A total of 47 pounds. that's not bad at all. the lowest I've ever been in life was 189. Yes, it makes a different, because it killed me to pass that 190 mark. :-D With the band, I enjoy all types of food. I think that's why I haven't lost as much as other people. I'm only 24, so it's hard to control myself. I do go to the gym a few days a week, and that helps form my body. My brother was at about 415lbs when he did the gastric. Now he's at 220. I may be 7 pounds more than him, but I still look a bit bigger becuase I work out, and I have a lot more muscle than he does. The number one tip to everyone, try to hit the weights as much as possible. If you begin working out at the gym, don't be scared when you gain a pound or two. Remember that muscle weighs more than fat. I know that I now can control my appetite, and moderate my weight around a certain level, so when i gain a pound, I know it's because of the extra muscle. I also work at a law firm in Houston, and go to law school, so life does become a bit stressful at times, which is never good for weight loss. My friends say they love being depressed because they lose weight! HA! i wish that was the case for me. Feel free to contact me and ask any questions, I love to talk about others' journey.

    January Bandsters???

I got ONE! It's not as exciting, but I've been studying for my Comps for the past 2 weeks, and haven't seen my classmates regularly. I walked into class this morning to take a comp, and one friend of mine actually said (After the exam) "You are literally melting away." Talk about a confidence booster! My mini goals are breaking the 10's barrier. 270,260,250,240,(238). It seems as thought 239-234 is a breeze, then 234-229 is a butt kicker! It's always those last few pounds to your goal.. My overall goal? 184, becuase the lowest I've ever gotten on my own was 185... I COULDN'T BREAK IT, but hopefully I will now. Keep on bandin!

    January Bandsters???

WOW! 30 POUNDS Already! That is SO good. I have a full schedule with school and studying, so it's hard for me to maintain a uniform diet. Ton's of water and salads. :-D

Thank you for the warm welcome! I just recently (Last week) began my exercising. Slowly but surely it feels more of a natural thing rather than a forceful thing.

    January Bandsters???

HI! I'm also a January bandster but I just opened up an account. I've been viewing this forum for a while now. I'm so surprised that some of ya'll have lost so much weight already. It's all about self dicipline. I started walking/jogging in Memoral park out here in Houston recently, and I try to do it about 3 times a week (2.8miles). I think this op was extremely useful.
