I made the pasta free lasagna from the world according to egg face. That was pretty good. Only could take in a few bites, but tasted good and made me feel full.

I'm so jealous of everyone on mushies that has refried beans! It is so strange, but I cannot tolerate them. I waited a couple weeks and tried them again yesterday....nope...felt like a golf ball was stuck in my diaphram, terrible feeling. Even after just first couple baby spoons. My sleeve does not like the refried beans, even after watering them down. They just taste so good! I want them to work, grrr! lol! Anyway, I'm just whining. I shouldn't complain, I can tolerate the dairy pretty well and I know some people struggle with that. I'm not sure what I would do if dairy was out too. Anyone else have a hard time with one of the common foods like refried beans? Also...while I am on here posting...I have been craving a nice crunchy salad. (better that then frensh fries) I know I am still weeks away from this (4 weeks post-op) but just wondering when a small salad is something my little tummy can handle? Just want to know average time post -op solids something like that is introduced. Just curious.

Not The Best Post Op Week
raven8888 replied to kfitch's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so sorry! I had complications in my first week as well. It gets better, just hang in there. I know how it feels, it's har enough , let alone having more things compound the situation. To be honest, my fist two weeks were hell. But after everything was corrected and I got back on track with recovery it was 10 times better. I will send you my prayers. Take care and keep us posted. -
It's really not bad. Like I said, just wanted to whine a little about it, just was hoping because I like the taste. Honestly, I tolerate more than I thought. I think if it was thinned down to soup it wouldn't really satisfy the taste buds in the same way. It may get better. Every week I try something that I couldn't tolerate a week before. A lot of trial and error. Some just leave a bigger impressionthan others with the amount of discomfort it presents. I go to solids in a couple weeks, that will be another adventure. I figure there is not really one food anymore that is worth Getting sick over and it's better to just take your time with it. I'm aloud to have mashed potatoes with dry milk and nectar protien and that can be very satisfying. I can also have these coco cereal and milk and pretzels and chips that is the doctors own brand for bariatric patients. They dissolve fast and are easily digested. They satisfy my chewing and crunchy textures nicely. I appreciate all your suggestions. Thank you.

Thank you for the suggestion. I am not allowed eggs yet. I know a lot of people are at 4 weeks but I want to try and stick with the diet plan my doc and nut want me to be on. I took a couple bites of my sons scrambled eggs and got very sick and had pain. So, I'm not going to break his rules again. . Once I can add eggs I will try that and see if it helps.

Yep it's strang how some things it doesn't tolerate. I can have pureed tuna fish, pureed ground beef, and pureed chicken just fine. You would think that would be harder to digest. Guess beans are just out for me.

Biggest Loser Weigh In
raven8888 replied to peacequeen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can I squeak in? I weighed in Sunday morning at 191. -
I had to roll to my side first and slowly push myself up using only my arms and not my stomach. A couple times I remember just kind of rolling off the bed until my feet were down, then start to stand up. It will get better.
-
Just hang in there. I was uncomfortable too. It will get better. By the 12 day I was finally feeling like I wanted to try more to eat. Before that I was so nauseous all the time and had a hard time getting anything down without pain or discomfort. The first couple weeks were the hardest for me.

Think I Got My First Case Of Dumping!
raven8888 replied to Shilo30's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought I was having dumping today after a fruit smoothies I made. I got so dizzy, nausea, hot and sweaty. But I had another hunch and went and took my blood pressure, 90/61. I was bottoming out, drank some water, laid down and put my feet up and started to feel better once I got up over 105/64. This may be a good sign that blood pressure meds are on the way out or adjusted. It was high this morning before meds, but maybe now that I lost almost 20 pounds post op I may need to come down on dose. Yay! -
Post Op Breathing Inhaler...have An Ammonia Taste After?
raven8888 replied to judy7120's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
By the way Judy, I think it is so great how active and supportive you are for your husband and getting on here for him while he is recovering. I would say if he continues to experience this strange taste after a couple more days, it wouldn't hurt to call the doc. I'm sure they have heard it all and can at least give you an explanation to why. -
Post Op Breathing Inhaler...have An Ammonia Taste After?
raven8888 replied to judy7120's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did he just have the surgery? I know I had a lot of left over blood in my stomach about 24-32 hours and kind of had a metalic taste in my mouth. I know this because I was vomiting dark old blood for a while after and doctor said that was the old blood left over. Maybe he is having a little reflux and tasting some stomach content post surgery??? -
Think I am hitting the dreaded 3 week stall. Any early May sleevers gone through it yet? How long does it last on average? I am going to do some measurements soon and see if I am at least losing inches, trying to stay positive and not let it get to my head.

Yay! Mushy Food Here I Come!
raven8888 replied to raven8888's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you tried any of the lactose free products? I know when my son was little and he had a hard time with milk products, his doctor had me use powdered milk because he said the protien was different in that form and he did just fine on it. Super cheap to get the powdered milk, lasts forever. Worth a try and see if you tolerate it better. They have the lactose free yogurts too. Good luck, I hope you can have your dairy back too. I can't imagine a world without any dairy. Even if it is just a couple bites now, still have to have it. lol! -
So glad I can finally have something close to real food again!! Goodbye liquids, heeellloooo Mushy!!!! I'm just a little excited. haha.

Yay! Mushy Food Here I Come!

I can relate, the other day I tried a little pudding, when I wasn't supposed to yet and it didn't sit right at all. But so far today things feel pretty good, just so full so fast. It's hard to prepare things because it I make too much and I can only handle a couple tablspoons before I'm done. I just have to get used to this new portion size. Just give yourself those extra days you need, I bet when you officially start, it will get better with each day. And if it doesn't work one day, try it again a week later.
