Stomach Sleeping....?
raven8888 replied to Karma84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 5 weeks out and just started to sleep on my stomach. I was too scared to sleep on my stomach any earlier because I was afraid the weight of my body would pop the stitches inside open or something, I know kind of silly, but it felt like it was too much pressure inside when I did. -
Yay! Finally, I can start the next chapter to my new and improved "good habits". So I tried my first solids which was a little pork tenderloin I made for the family as usual. But tonight, I did not have to blend it into a pate. I took little itty bitty bites, chewed well. The texture, the taste was so wonderful in my mouth. Felt great going down, no pain, no stuck feeling. I was full after 6 tiny tiny bites. My mind wanted to keep eating, but as I have learned over the past few weeks, trust that full feeling, or else you will be very sorry. So I stopped like a good little sleever. I feel full and satisfied. Only complaint, I'm sitting here and my stomach is making the loudest sounds, like the creeking floor boards of a haunted house. I hope this doesn't always happen, its pretty loud! Lol! Anyway, for all you pre and post opers that are waiting for solids again....it happens faster than you think, and it's an "interesting" journey with food to say the least. It is nice to feel a little more normal, but different if that makes sense. Its hard after surgery adjusting to the small amounts, the restrictions, but at this stage I'm really coming to place of acceptance and contentment with the way I view food. It's nice to finish a meal feeling full and not having that guilt of...."did I really just polished off 3/4 a bag of soft batch cookies?". And for once, I'm actually seeing results and loss that I know is never going to come back on. Yay! Today has been a good day.

Most often a drop in blood pressure for a post op vsg is due to one of two things. Most commonly it will be from dehydration. Even a moderate dehydration can cause the lightheadedness and dizzy feeling. Especially when you stand up. The blood rushes down to legs( which is why drink fluids and lay down and put feet up) it gels get that blood moving back to your heart and brain again and the fluid will help with the volume which will help raise the pressure so that your heart can deliver the blood to all the arteries, etc. Another common reason is if you are on blood pressure medication, sometimes after a a significant weight loss or drop, all of a sudden your blood pressure starts to bottom out after taking your meds and you need to have doc adjust dose or discontinued.

Biggest Loser Winner Is Raven8888
raven8888 replied to peacequeen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, I was just coming out of a stall in all fairness, and I think the scale decided to catch up with the inches. Not sure if I can keep that rate up forever. But I will take it where I can get it. Everyone did so great. The numbers on the scale only tell part of the journey we are all going through. The real change happens within. -

Good luck! I'm sending you good thoughts for a fast speedy recovery. I hope this will be the end to your complications. Hang in there. -
My doc has me on the sublingual B-12 daily. You can get it at Gnc stores. Helps a little. I'm at about 5 weeks andstill have some trouble with fatigue. However, my calories are still low and it's hard to get a lot of energy when you don't have enough to pull it from yet. I have good days and tired days. Just listen to your body and from what I've learned hear that will continue to improve.

Biggest Loser Weigh In
raven8888 replied to peacequeen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just looked back at my thread, my starting weight last Sunday was 191, so only 6 pounds since last Sunday. I accidentally looked at my recorded Saturday weight of last week. Either way I have melted in the past 8 days! It's still a huge victory and so glad to be rid of my first stall! I have been walking around with my new theme song in my head from flash dance, you all know the one. Haha! -
Biggest Loser Weigh In
raven8888 replied to peacequeen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on fire this week! last Sunday I was stalled at the same number for two weeks. I was a little worried I would end up weighing in with no loss or just one pound maybe. This past week, I stepped up my exercise, worked on getting my fluids in better, and kept a closer eye on the hidden carbs and I am pleased to report....... Drum roll....... A loss of 9 pounds! Official scale reading this morning is 185!!! That is a total of 26 pounds since surgery day on may 14th. I have 16 inch overall loss across my body. I like this challenge, I think it helped something switch on for me, haha! I went to kohls yesterday and got a couple tshirts in one size down.! Woohoo! -
Dear Stallers And Not Losing Weighters
raven8888 replied to SkinnyOnMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wanted to add, I just went through that 3 week stall. I expected it from reading this site. I did measurements instead. I stayed at the same weight for two weeks. However, I dropped a combined 3 1/2 inches inthat time. All of a sudden this past week, no joke, I have dropped 8 pounds. So just don't keep looking at the scale. It will happen. -

Freshly Sleeved
raven8888 replied to Amytequilahouse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At two weeks my NUT said she was more concerned about the protien intake than the calories. She said we didn't have to pay too close attention to it quite yet because she doubted we could even get in that much and gave us a 900 max. However, she was right, even when I think I have eaten more in one day, when I add up the calories I am still under 500 and I am 4 weeks now. Just can't fit in that much yet. It's really hard to get 600 calories in (when you are eating the right kind of foods anyway) So I just focus on the protien and try to make every bite count. I'm sure once the diet is back to regular solids and she wants me to try and consume more calories I will have to figure that out without adding too many carbs and fats.
