  1. Back off. In time you'll be able to increase your intake, but for now, take things easy. At the first sign of discomfort, stop and maybe try a bit again. Try just having a teaspoon of soup at a time and take your time eating it.
  2. I don't drink alcohol, so that's not an issue for me. I'm using to drinking with my meals, so if I'm out, I'm only taking tiny little sips of Water, just to not raise any suspicion amongst my fellow diners.
  3. Hi Kelli, Yeah it's normal to feel discomfort in the first week or so after surgery. I had quite a bit of pain trying to eat soup. It just wouldn't go down. I think I could only manage a few tablespoons at a time.

  5. I'm seeing my dietician on Wednesday so I'll ask her if it's normal to 'feel hungry'. I'm trying not to snack between my main meals as I don't want to fall into a pattern of eating crap again and jeopardise my sleeve. I know it's impossible, but constant snacking just because got me to where I was pre surgery. I've been really bad and haven't had any Opti shakes and my protein intake is rather low. I'm struggling to drink 1lt of Water.
  6. Don't feel it as much today, thanks. I'll see how I go tomorrow.
  7. What is everyone snacking on, if you are snacking. I currently have the Mainland 'On The Go' Tasty Light cheese with crackers.
  8. I'm 7 weeks post op and only yesterday started to feel pain at the far right lap port site. Not sure what is going on there. Will see my GP tomorrow between patients if it's still bothering me. I'm not due to see my surgeon til next month.
  9. I was initially on basic but had to change to top and wait out the 12 months. I paid $2500 for the surgeon and $188 for the anaesthesiologist. Everything else was covered by my PHI or Medicare.
  10. I didn't have any drains post op. I guess each case is different. How good does a shower feel?!
  11. Wow had no idea it cost that much without PHI. I did mean to ask my surgeon but never got around to it. Glad I got PHI.
  12. My sister just called me asking me what happens after we reach our goal weights. She hadn't really thought about it and neither have I, but her boss (who knows about my surgery...all of her workplace do LOL) questioned it as she was curious. My goal is 68kg (60kg loss) and say I keep losing weight after that...what happens? I know we can't increase the amount of food we eat, but do we just increase the calorie intake? I haven't thought that far ahead. TIA.
  13. With regards to stages, I was on the Fluid phase (1) for 2 weeks instead of 1 week, but no harm done. I just wanted to be safe. I was then on puree for 2 weeks and now on soft stage for 4 weeks. Some things are easier to get down than others. I do recommend the Knife, Fork, Band book which has a multitude of recipes for pre and post surgery. It's aimed for those being banded, but the recipes also work well for us sleevers.
  14. I drank Supradyn for the first 2 weeks then after given the go ahead, I started on a Cenovis Women's Multivitamin.
  15. Help! I can't seem to stop snacking. It seems I'm always hungry and I'm not liking it. Just now I had a mouthful of M&M's and a chocolate biscuit just to get rid of the hunger sensation. Breakfast this morning was the above cous cous recipe that I posted, MT was coffee, lunch was tuna and cous cous and now the chocolate, biscuit and another coffee. dinner will be Ainsley Harriett's lentils dahl packet and grilled chicken thighs.
  16. Thought I'd share a recipe for you for Breakfast Cous Cous...yes you read right! I had it for breakfast this morning and it was delicious. I've copied this recipe from Your Bariatric Dietician (https://www.facebook.com/YBDietitian) Creamy Sweet Cous Cous Makes 4 cups 2 cups of low fat milk ½ cup cous cous 1 tablespoon brown sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla 2 bananas 1-2 teaspoons cinnamon, to taste Combine the milk and the cous cous in a saucepan. Over a gentle heat, bring to a simmer, stirring frequently for about 12 minutes or until thickened and the cous cous is tender. Add the vanilla and brown sugar and stir until well combined. Serve the cous cous in four small bowls, topped with sliced banana. Alternatively, dice the banana and stir through the cous cous and let cook for 1-2 minutes longer to give the cous cous a banana flavour. Sprinkle with cinnamon, to taste. Nutrition Information: energy 875kJ, calories 209, Protein 10g, fat 0.5g, saturated fat negligible, carbohydrate 41g, fibre 1.5g. Weight Loss Surgery Tip: This recipe makes approximately four cups (4 x 1 cup serves). Half to one serve may be adequate for those with a gastric band. Early in the gastric bypass or sleeve journey you should only require half of one serve and over time you may tolerate greater amounts, up to 1 cup. Those with larger appetites (family and friends) may require two serves.
  17. I've added a lemon cube to my Water and it seems to be going down easier. We've had an abundance of lemons, so we've juice them all and frozen them in ice cube trays. Cheaper than cordial Hope everyone is doing well.
  18. I am now 6 weeks post op and feel what I call hunger pangs, but without the rumbling stomach like I would have pre surgery. Is this normal? I thought once I'd have the surgery, all that would be gone. Doesn't seem to be the case Help! I eat 3 meals a day and no snacking.
  19. I was just saying last night to my sister that I'm struggling with Water. I just doesn't taste right, if that makes sense. I was going to get some cordial or lemon juice, but I'll give iced tea a go for the odd glass. I'm struggling to drink even 1lt a day.
  20. I'm still learning to listen to my stomach or eat slowly. I'm used to shovelling food in.
  21. BTW, I'm actually from Geelong, just saying Melbourne is sometimes easier LOL. Anyone else from my neck of the woods?
  22. Along with the OF, I also ate normal food, well, I went according to the meal plans in the Knife, Fork, Band book. I would've never have survived on the OF alone.
  23. I'm also on the Aussie forum, but find it difficult to navigate.
  24. Can my surgeon be added? Mr Darrin Goodall-Wilson. I'm from Australia. I've noticed a few Aussie doctors are listed. Thanks.
