Mine said to work up to 64 oz. Not sure if I should count the liquid in my shakes and broth but 64 oz seems like a LOT.

I'm glad to hear your surgery went smoothly and you are resting comfortably. Don't forget to walk-I had horrible gas pains and walking was the only thing that provided any relief (that and gas-x)

Hi all! Today is surgery day-i'm signed in just in the lobby waiting to be called back. Not too nervous just ready to get this show on the road!
-
I am so sorry that you are having such a hard time! I can't even imagine. How did you get the hematoma? Hopefully it will be smooth sailing from here on out. So scary!

So happy for you! Good luck!!

Today Was So Hard
soccer*mom replied to marielalora's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Why don't you try a new protein powder? My favorite is Jay Robb Egg White Chocolate. This stuff is awesome! Absolutely no aftertaste! My favorite shake is 1 scoop protein powder, skim milk, a bit of instant decaf coffee, a squirt of smuckers caramel sauce, and a few ice cubes...better than Starbucks!! -
I'm curious-how many of you were told that you could have a 'last supper'? My doc said to go for it. He told me I could eat ANYTHING I wanted, but nothing after midnight. I ate a bunch of cr*p and now I feel so gross! I wish I would have stuck to my liquid diet.

Got my popsicles! Soups, sugar free caramel, protein shots, protein jello, more protein powder, gatorade, carrot juice, instant decaf coffee, tea, gas-x, fiber gummies, and antacid. I know there's more (almost had a heart attack when I saw the total). I think I'm prepared! Can't wait to swap stories!!

Support Group For Dfw Banders!!
soccer*mom replied to Tahneesamson's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
YES! Had my pre-op appt this afternoon and I am first on the list in the morning!! I have to be there by 6am! I am hoping I can trust my 3 boys to get ready and off to school on time. I think I am more nervous about that than I am about the surgery itself. -
Lisa-I am so happy everything went well-I am so happy for you!! My surgery is tomorrow & I am running last minute errands so I can stock the fridge/pantry with goodies for when I return. Also have about 6 loads of laundry to do-not sure when I'll feel up to doing it again.

This soup sounds so good! Is it OK for phase 1? I am wondering if my doc would be ok with cream based soups -Thoughts?

Blew My Pre-Op Diet!
soccer*mom replied to soccer*mom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey guys! Thanks so much for your advise and words of encouragement. Today is a new day. Today I make the right choices. Today is all about ME!! -
My surgery is on April 18th (pre-op is the 17th) and I started off great with the pre-op diet but totally blew it this weekend. My 90 year old grandma has been staying with us since Thursday. She began fretting when she saw I wasn't eating. I didn't want to tell her because she wouldn't understand and I didn't want to worry her. I could drink my morning shake without incident because I could do it before she got up. I would put a bowl in the sink to make her think I had already eaten. (Ridiculous I know! ) lunch and dinner were not so easy. I tried to make the best choices that were available to me but honestly, my last 3 meals were horrible! She has now gone home and I feel so incredibly mad at myself and guilty for giving in. So stupid!! Has anyone else done this? What happened? Will they want to re-schedule my surgery? I am afraid my doctor will be so disappointed in me for failing that he will not want to do the surgery at all. I've got 3 days till surgery and I will eat perfectly-I hope it is enough

Blew My Pre-Op Diet!
soccer*mom replied to soccer*mom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know you are both right. Thankfully, I haven't had any issues with sticking to my diet around any other family members. The thing I couldn't get out of my head is that this could be the last time I see her (she lives 8 hours away and hasn't been well) and I don't want her to spend the rest of her time on this earth worried about ANYTHING. I also tend to stress eat so it was not a good combination. My granny has never been overweight but has had lots of heart issues (open heart surgeries, stents etc) with her first heart attack at the age of 45...very scary and a huge motivating factor to get healthy. My doc did not give me a certain amount of weight to lose but my personal goal was 10lbs-I have lost 5 so far and will probably lose a total of 8 before the surgery. No more excuses. From now on I will be my top priority! -
I have been married for 18 years and my husband has seen me at my lowest and highest weight. He has always been more interested in sex when I was thinner. I guess I don't blame him but that doesn't make it hurt any less. He is not supportive of my upcoming surgery and I know once I start losing, he will probably want me more and I am afraid I will feel resentful.
-
Kate-Sadly, I am sure there are lots of us out there. I probably should see a therapist. My surgery is on Wednesday and along with the anxiety, I am feeling resentment toward my husband. He refused to go to a seminar, read any of the literature I gave him, or do any research on his own. I need to get past this and focus on ME and and what I need to do to be successful.
-
My husband is not supportive either. He is the only one who knows. I have 3 kiddos-13 year old twins and an 11 year old and I've chosen not to tell them either. My husband and children are all normal weight and very active. I am still ashamed that I can't do this on my own. Hubby thinks I could if I really tried. I've lost the weight before (more than once) but keep re-gaining it (plus some). I feel like a failure but am determined to do this for ME. I wonder how many have done this successfully, without support on the home front?

Any Banders Or Soon To Me Banders In The Dfw Area???
soccer*mom replied to Tahneesamson's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Mufasas mom-why the 6 month wait? I think that would drive me insane! I was so surprised that insurance approved without any apparent hoops to jump through. I really wish I had started the process sooner. I kept putting it off, not wanting to face the disappointment of being denied. Insurance is the only way I could afford the procedure. Now I just can't relax and embrace the news. I'm filled with so much nervous anticipation. I feel like I am waiting for the other shoe to fall, that someone will call and say 'oops, we were wrong-no insurance for you!'. I think only until I wake up after the surgery that I will be able to breathe easy. Tahneesamson-they haven't mentioned anything about plication. There is a longer recovery time with that procedure correct? Is that what you are having done? -
Any Banders Or Soon To Me Banders In The Dfw Area???

Hi all! I am in Frisco and going through True Results in Richardson as well! I've been really impressed so far. I have already been approved by my insurance YEAH! (BCBS IL). I am 5'3" and weigh 220. I have had my psyc. and nutrition appt and blood work done and am waiting on the results. I will have an 'at home' sleep study kit delivered tomorrow. I'm not sure what the next step is. I don't have another appointment scheduled. They said they would contact me after the results from the blood work is in. I guess this is normal? They did say that when they scheduled my surgery, it would be sometime during the 2nd week of April. Taheenasmom-it looks like my surgery would be very close to yours
